Synopsis

High school student Junta Shiraishi has a simple goal—to live a fulfilling youth. However, achieving this goal appears to be harder than expected, as everyone in his surroundings often fails to notice him due to his lack of presence. In fact, Shiraishi's lack of presence is so severe that people think his seat in class is always empty, and mistakenly assume that he often skips school. There is even a weird rumor spreading around in class, claiming that those who successfully spot Shiraishi will be blessed with good fortune for the day.

So far, the only person who notices his existence is Nagisa Kubo, the girl seated next to him. Unfortunately for him though, Kubo likes to tease him on a daily basis and often puts him into unprecedented and nerve-wracking situations. However, as Kubo's playful antics continue to involve the reluctant Shiraishi, he may soon discover that his youth might not be as boring as he initially thought.

So the drip finally stops...

Chapter 144 is the final one for the manga, of which I just got done reading. Overall I thought the series was very charming. Basically, the whole story is a bit like Teasing Master Takagi-san, but more light hearted and the dude isn't actually dense...in fact he's thinner than air. But it's a nice story about how one person can open up your eyes to see a whole new side of the world you've never experienced before. The art has an interesting style from jumping back and forth between chibi and regular art, which heightens the more comedic moments well. And ...

Mixed Feelings
Spoiler
This manga falls into a very common shounen romance pitfall: show some sparks in the first half and then streeech it out with a "will they wont they" question until the end. By the time the manga gets to a confession the entire thing feels hollow and weirdly formal. It's a cliche that gets repeated over and over.

Kubo is immune to none of this as a manga. Despite the timidness of his character the MC shows some forward progress in his relationship with the LI. The manga then proceeds to forget this for over 70 chapters before the beginning of the end.

Most of that ...

Preliminary (35/152 eps)
There's nothing special or unique about this manga. You've probably seen all the scenes in this a hundred times before. I kept waiting for something unique to happen, but nothing did. It should have been a dating sim instead. Because, no way in real life is a cute girl going to just fall onto an unremarkable guy. It just doesn't happen. This is just neurotic self-insert wish fulfilment posing as a wholesome romantic comedy. The character designs are bland, the paneling boring and uninspired. It's played straight, there is no catch. What you see is what you get. I didn't like what I saw.
