This is actually a really good webcomic! Its main theme is actually friendship for once, so we get to see many heartwearming, sad, funny, and etc moments as we watch Nari befriend and grow closer with the pretty girls. Everyone's personalities are developed nicely and feel real, too! Even the background characters and mean antagonists are designed to be like real people, walking around with complex and not-entirely-bad personalities. The art is pretty nice, too! Awkward at first, yes, but it DOES improve later on - and it does eventually become good, to where it gives justice to Yuna, Seongji, and Mirae's "beauty," too. Speaking ... of their beauty, it's really great that their appearances are not the only things established about them at all. In fact, the beauty honestly just becomes a side trait that isn't excessively and senselessly emphasized, especially later on. We progressively get to know them as genuine girls with their own personalities, backstories, and everything, instead of only ever seeing them as simple swans that don't have much personality aside from brattiness or whatever.

Even after the main plot is done with, the new plots and stories that follow are always interesting enough to still read with enjoyment. Which is- obviously hard to do as a writer. The fact that they deal much more heavily with friendship instead of cliche romance, too, is great - especially since Odd Girl Out deals with everything in a realistic but dramatic light instead of a glorified, overly sappy, cliche one. This is definitely a webtoon I would recommend to anyone who wants to try out a new webtoon if they like slice-of-life and drama-full webtoons.

An underrated masterpiece.
I mostly read fantasy/action media and don't really dabble in the more "slice of life" types. One day, however I was quite bored and decided to try something different. I saw a webtoon called "Odd Girl Out" under the heartwarming tag. Seemed cute enough so I gave it a try.

ONE OF THE MOST PROUD DECISIONS IN MY LIFE
I might be a bit biased, because I just like it so much, but I believe the overall story, the character development (in which pretty much all the characters get some background, so we can understand their motivations) absolutely baffles me. The characters feel alive, relatable, ... overall like real people you might have met in your life. I also really respect the fact, that friendship between the main girl characters is the most important theme (especially in the 1st part). This isn't something I see often, as most of the media taking place in high schools is romance only, or mainly. The 2nd part starts to have a bigger focus on the romance, but because of the character development that the main characters went through in the 1st part, it isn't an issue. On the contrary, it is nice to see how much they developed. (though my favourite character, who has arguably the best development considering their backstory, is missing... Please come back more often!)

Either way, I absolutely love it, it is a masterpiece and I think it ruined some manga/manhwa for me, because I don't believe I'll read something like this again.

1000% A RECOMMEND, READ IT AND YOU WILL MOST DEFINITELY NOT REGRET IT IF YOU LOVE MASTERFUL CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, GREAT COMEDY AND GREAT OVERALL PLOT.

PS: The only thing I don't like about this series is the fact that I caught up, and now have to wait weekly for new chapters :((((

No spoilers in this review. Odd girl out is a light read. You don't need to dig deep into it, just enjoy whatever is being thrown at you. The author will make you feel a rollercoaster of emotions as you get to know all the characters and choose your favorite.

Story: It's a good story, just average. It's your typical girl friend group type of story where they go to school, fight, make up. Even so, I really enjoyed it. The author does a good job in balancing the story out by making sure it's not redundant. Different types of characters, cliches, and plots are ... reused, but it's shown in their own way where it doesn't get old. It's really just a cute story about girls going to school. What can you say?

Art: Art is similar to all the other Webtoons. Colored and easy to read.

Character: This is what hooks you in. The development of each character is the charm of this manhwa. Each character has their own backstory that's scattered, and focused on throughout the story. It's well laid out, and you'll definitely find the ones you hate and the ones you love.

Enjoyment/Overall: I will recommend this Manhwa for those who like slice of life. It's a day-to-day story with our main character with flashbacks for developments. Just enjoy the cuteness of our beloved heroines that are too good for us.

Now, if you might be thinking if you see the cover or something, "Oh, it's just another generic girl manhwa". Then you are damn wrong. I am guy and I found it enjoyable.

Now, I really don't want to spoil anything in this review. But these are the qualities I will point out in the manhwa that got me hooked into it more. The characters are fleshed out. Even characters not part of the main characters are also explored for sometime. There is an amazing character development especially for our main protagonist.

The story is also well-written that it will leave you satisfied at the ... end of the day. There is also a bit of a mystery here and there regarding the characters' past from the author's style of giving us bits and hints of information --- which was a nice touch in my opinion.

All I can say is that try it. However, I won't guarantee that you would enjoy it as much as I did as everyone have different tastes.

TLDR: Highschool life done right. Read it in webtoon (vertical style) and by god give every character a chance

Odd Girl Out is a manhwa that I hold dear to my heart. It was one of the first series I read when I first got into manhwa, and it was updating daily at the time, so it holds a lot of nostalgic value for me. But beyond that, it's a story that while I don't come back to so often, holds a near and dear place to my heart.

The series explores the intricate dynamics of high school friendships, with a focus on the relationship between the ... introverted Siyeon and the popular Gyuri. As Siyeon gets drawn into Gyuri's world, she begins to question the authenticity of their friendship, and the story becomes a realistic portrayal of the complexities and power struggles that can arise within teenage friendships.

One of the strengths of Odd Girl Out is its ability to make the characters feel like real yet likable people. Siyeon's shyness and insecurity are relatable, and her journey of self-discovery is a rewarding one to follow. Gyuri, despite her manipulative tendencies, is also a compelling character, and her motivations are explored in a way that makes her more than just a one-dimensional antagonist. Even the side characters are given their own unique personalities and quirks, which adds to the richness of the story.

The art style of Odd Girl Out is also noteworthy, with clean lines and expressive character designs that capture the emotions of the characters effectively. The use of pastel colors creates a soft and dreamy atmosphere that complements the story's introspective tone.

Overall, Odd Girl Out is a series that I highly recommend. Its endearing characters and relatable themes make it a must-read for anyone who has ever struggled to navigate the complexities of teenage friendships. If you're looking for a manhwa that will make you laugh and ship a bit while rooting for its characters, then this is definitely one to check out
