Synopsis

After reflecting on the current state of Japanese soccer, the Japanese Football Association decides to hire the enigmatic and eccentric coach Jinpachi Ego to achieve their dream of winning the World Cup. Believing that Japan has lacked an egoistic striker hungry for goals, Jinpachi initiates the Blue Lock—a prison-like facility where three hundred talented strikers from high schools all over Japan are isolated and pitted against each other. The sole survivor of Blue Lock will earn the right to become the national team's striker, and those who are defeated shall be banned from joining the team forever.

Selected to join this risky project is Yoichi Isagi, a striker who failed to bring his high school soccer team to the national tournament. After choosing to pass to a teammate who missed instead of scoring on his own, he could not help but wonder if the results would have been different had he been more selfish. Using this golden opportunity given by the Blue Lock Project, Yoichi aims to clear his doubts and chase his ultimate desire—to become the greatest striker in the world and lead Japan to World Cup glory.

Preliminary (293/? eps)
I could start by saying how amazing this work is and how much I've fallen in love with it, but one thing that I have to say for anyone wondering if its worth reading, is that this manga is not for everyone. Is cheesy, is edgy, is overdramatic and exaggerated, and after some volumes the matches become kind of tiring and predictable, but it doesn't diminish the value of the overall story and the emotional delivery of some beautiful moments. As much as some people say that Blue Lock presents a football that punishes and criticizes teamwork, it's actually about how we have to push ...

Mixed Feelings
Preliminary (4/? eps)
Blue Lock is a work with a strange feel to me, it seems to be a Kuroko no Basket or a Haikyuu but about soccer, but even having seen these two works mentioned, I can't get caught up in this work.

I watched a few episodes and watched some geek raps here in Brazil, but even though I liked some of the things I saw, I feel that I got attached enough to spend my time with this work. In the future, it is possible that this will change, but so far I have no plans to watch it.

It is a good work with a different ...

Edgy, but with no substance.
Blue Lock makes me feel like I'm watching a middle school play full of band kids who all think they're Light Yagami.

Everything from the eyes, the expressions and the corny lines spewed from these walking stereotypes are the agglomeration of aspects and elements someone who has read 2 Shonen manga think manga as a whole is.

Characters are stupid, the art style is alright, the story is predictable and the dialog is eye-rolling bad.

This is barely a sports manga, it's slop material for bad phonk TikTok edits aimed at 13 year olds with a main character complex.
