Both are wholesome SoL historical manga which are set in rural life: - There's a bride who goes to his groom's hometown and learns their way of life. - They are both quite informative about the old ways of making food and medicine. - There's no drama or annoying plotlines.

Two stories of people getting married and living out their lifestyles with nature. Relaxing atmosphere. Otoyomegatari takes place in an ancient desert middle-eastern setting, whereas Hokuou Kizoku seems to be an icy area somewhere in northern Europe during the 1700s ish.

Both stories are wholesome and focus on a married couple’s life. Sannensa is set in present time, in a regular Japanese family. Hokuou Kizoku is set in 16/17th century in Sweden/ Northern Europe. I get the same wholesome feel when I read these stories. They are light and sweet. Sannensa has more comedy. And HK has more cooking and hunting. They are both awesome.

Both stories tell the tale of two individuals that married out of obligation but slowly start loving each other. Mahoutsukai no Yome takes place in a magical world, whereas Hokuou Kizoku is a more realistic setting.
