Both manga focus on a female MC who is energetic, yet clueless when it comes to love, and a male MC who is very passionate and slightly possessive about their lover. In both cases the 2 agree to go out in the hopes the girl will learn what it means to love

Both are beautiful high-school-love-stories with very interesting but also stubborn characters, focussing on interactions - especially on communication and its missunderstanding in a brand-new-relationship. Sometimes quietly touching, sometimes funny - but never boring!

This 2 story have an Female Lead that is unpopular and haven't experience love, then they meet with a popular boy and became a couple. Both show the female lead experience something new called "love".

While Kaketa Tsuki is Yuri romance and Hananoi-kun is a male-female romance, both have: - The idea of working on individual goals/insecurities in order to be able to properly maintain relationships, romantic or not. - Realistic character insecurities and personalities - Have characters that can properly communicate their feelings with one another Kaketa Tsuki is a little less spicy as Hananoi-kun, but still has really good payoff moments. If you liked Ase to Sekken as well, you will like both of these, as all three of these works use the "work on oneself to better the relationship" mantra that produces very good stories.

Very similar male MCs alongside both relationships feeling slightly unorthodox. Hananoi-kun has a lot less humor but explores each character's weaknesses and strengths in relationships way better than Horimiya. Its as if the story put more points into introspectiveness instead of aggressive/forwardness. While Horimiya has characters that are generally only positively aligned aside from Miyamura, Hananoi-kun does a good job at having characters that have done bad/regrettable things and try to move past them. Another way to see it is Horimiya does extremely well with its side character dynamics, while Hananoi-kun does extremely well with its main character dynamic.

Both manga have characters named Saki that are kinda similar. Both try to throw themselves deeply into romance because they're trying to find their "special someone" or "soulmate". Condition Called Love is a romance-focused story, while Senpai is more of a coming-of-age.

"A Sign of Affection" and "A Condition Called Love" both are published under the same magazine (Kodansha's "Dessert") and both feature very wholesome protagonists who are learning how to express love for the first time. "A Sign of Affection" is about a girl who is deaf and a boy who learns sign language to communicate with her and "A Condition Called Love" is about a couple who is mismatched in their levels of passion (overzealous vs. doesn't know what love is) together learning how to match each other's pace. I highly recommend reading both of these as they're both very sweet shoujo stories that leave  read more
