I found that reading these at the same time provided me with the strange idea of similarity, though I highly recommend Shissou Nikki it is clearly not a fantasy manga like Dungeons Meshi is but they both lure you in with fun and comedic style of art and story telling and both continue on to get incredibly deep and interesting.  

Both deal in a very straight forward way with the real life of the authors, mangakas who stopped working for contextual reasons and lived simpler lives not entirely by choice.  

Stories about homeless men and their lives in such situations, the resourcefullness of materials from the regular society, eating scraps, ending out in hospital etc. 

Stories of adult men that have given up on working as regular citizens and turned to homelessness and surviving on their resourcefulness.
