According to Animedia August issue, producer Nakayama Nobuhiro said the OVA series "Shakugan no Shana S" is followed by the third season.

Nakayama said:

We launched "Shana Project" with a view to ending the Shana anime series. Before moving on to the third season, we need to describe the backgrounds and the relationships between the characters more in detail. So the project began with the OVA series.

Oh so I guess we will have a BIG OVA SEASON OF FILLERS? GREAT!..........

And then of course A BIG SEASON 3 OF FILLERS......EVEN MORE GREAT....

Seriously some other company should just redo it from beginning....CORRECTLY.

Are you stupid Fai? Read it, it says the OVA's will be done and released BEFORE they move on to the 3rd Season.

And what makes you think that the OVA's and Season 3 will be full of fillers? Where is your reasoning to think this?

Just shut up and wait to find out what we're getting before you bash this.

And JUST HOW that contradicts with what I said ?

chinlamp said:

Because S2 was full of fillers and shitty animation quality.
Because S1 was full of fillers and shitty animation quality.

There is my reasoning to think this.

Oh I beg you to make me. Unless we are living in China or Iran, I see nothing that would restrict me from stating my opinion.

chinlamp said:

Why should I? The studio has already proved that they are UNABLE to create a coherent and faithful shana adaptation. Why should I, after seeing the fail of S2, wait to see the fail of S3?

Studios don't "get better", kid, they only get worse. And Shana should have been taken by another studio before this one completely ruins whatever left of it.

What a stupid question. We don't care whether you wait it or not, it's still coming. They are making more Shana because it succeeded, that is really the only thing what matters - money. Not some random moaner from the west.

Why not just, integrate it in the 3rd season and leave out the fillers?

OMG what turned this into a hostile shouting match. Shana 3 is still going to happen and JC Staff are still going to be doing it. If you dont like it then fine, everyone has a right to an opinion, but you dont have to fight. Gods!

I for one am quite happy its coming, i personally thought S1 was good and S2 was ok. But just because someone thinks different does not mean to go off on one.

so please shut up and just accept S3 is coming.

Nice but the "we need to describe the backgrounds and the relationships between the characters more in detail." makes it sound like just a filler before the anime.

Unless they plan on further expounding on the second season, ie. doing the things in the books covered by the second season that they didn't actually put in S2.

Which would be good. Especially if they use this to wait for more novels to be released, cos let's face it, noone wants this to end up like so many anime, with it's own ending written by subpar writers instead of following the manga/novels.

I'm kinda looking forward to SnS S. There is a novel titled SnS S, wich means that the story hopefully won't be made by studio, but will progress according to original story (althought SnS S is a side story unfortunately).

Be that as it may, I wanted to ask: how far ahead of anime are the novels? And does it seems like the novels are going to end soon? Becouse if the JC wants to end the series and novels are still ongoing, then I'm very afraid about the quality SnS 3.

Well, there are 21 novels so far, according to Wikipedia, no idea when they're supposed to end though.

If the studio does decide to end the series before novels do, I think I'll do the unthinkable and agree with Fai, and say another studio needs to redo series.

Of course, this will never happen as hardly anyone will buy them again, and the overseas market has already had enough trouble with the DVD's being released.

The studio has the rights for the series atm, am I wrong? And this whole "studios only get worse" thing is completely idiotic. Are we forgetting that every anime has different people working on them? Heck, every season of a single anime can sometimes, and a lot of times actually, be handled by different producers, directors, completely different staff. I think it is rather unfair to pin the blame on an studio as a whole.

Looking forward to it even though it doesnt really make sense to me why they are releasing it fragmented like this, I guess advertising $$ may be low in the recession in Japan. Hopefully the quality will be up to S1 and the better parts of S2.

So, they are going to put an end to the series, yet it will get a third season. I don't really get it but I get the idea that the third season will either be a spinoff featuring the same main characters or a remake.

the rights for the series are proportional to the amount of money invested. J.C.Staff invested a bit in Shana but the major producers are Geneon, Toshiba Entertainment and Media Works. I guess Ibira (Toshiba) and Nakayama (Geneon) have the greatest power over Shana series.

I think season one didn't stray much from the novels, and the the animation wasn't bad imo (well, of course I'd rather have Noizi Ito drawing the whole thing XD). Though it would've been great if there were HD releases back then. But in relation to the second season, I couldn't agree more, at least on the fillers part. I spent the whole series asking myself if I wasn't better of watching a Mexican soap opera. Well, there were some episodes that vaguely reminded me of how cool S1 was too me, like the last episode.
The OVA will be comedy directed so we can't really expect much action, and I hope it only has one episode or two because this is supposed to be short, no use extending it. But to be honest, after checking on that novel special I always wondered what would be like if it was animated, so I won't complain. Also, more Shana-tan is always welcomed.
As for the third season, if they manage to screw it then they should honestly quit trying. I'm hoping to see a season packed with action and plot twists not a lovey-dovey, over dramatic romance.
