THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------

So many intertwining plot threads with Yurisha, Yuki, and Misaki. Yuki has amnesia from an accident with Yurisha who's now in a coma on the Yamato waiting to be delivered back to Iscandar. Going off of this, Yurisha's mind was then transferred into Misaki which explains why she's been acting weird at times after episode 14.

After learning more about Yurisha I was reminded of ep 9 with the servant robot and android. In that episode, was the android communicating with Yurisha when he connected himself to the ship? If so that's awesome and makes me want to re-watch previous eps knowing future plot threads to see if they hinted things earlier

Dang Domel got the short end of the stick having to bear the consequences because of his wife who is rumored to gone rogue against the Gamilan Empire. Kinda ironic since they were praising him when he got promoted to destroy the Yamato a few episodes ago.

Was glad XO Sanada didn't die from the discharge, he's been such an enjoyable nuanced character to watch, even more so after seeing the flashback with him and Kodai's brother

Edit: Been rewatching the series and the plot points I misunderstood or didn't get the first time have been cleared up with this 2nd marathon.(Namely Dessler's Assassination attempt, Admiral Ditz's arrest/Melda's Rebellion, and the Izumo Plan backers rebellion). Wow I feel stupid reading some of my past comments haha

Maybe I'm being retarded, but I thought that was Admiral Ditz' daughter. I guess all blue women look the same?

I didn't even think about that, I just assumed it was Domel's wife since they mentioned her when Domel was being charged with treason before the scene above. The lighting was kinda dark though so it was hard to tell. I should probably rewatch the episode when I have the time haha

Domel's wife was the women in noble clothing that knocked the first soldier who wanted to fire on the people running away. The blue women was most likely Ditz daughter, as we do not know that many blue women, and it's unlikely that it was Miezela (the woman always around Dessler)

Wait that wasn't his daughter?

Thought it was interesting that Yuki actually isn't from Iscandar. Nice red herring. Things are starting to make more sense regarding why Misaki has different personalities all of a sudden, how the navigation system works, and who the "beautiful lady ghost" everyone's been seeing.

Two different women--Domel's wife is the tall blonde in the line of people being bundled off to a concentration camp, Ditz's daughter was the one at the fence being watched by the secret police (or contractors working on unspecified security tasks for the Gamillan government). Frankly the whole thing looks like a setup to get rid of the old guard of the Gamillan military and replace them with political cadres loyal to Gessler and his minions rather than to antiquated notions of military honour.

I almost shed manly tears when it seemed Sanada-san was going to die in a wave of poems and neutrons.

A great, great episode this one. We learn that Yuki is not in fact an Iscandrian and that Niimi was once Mamoru Kodai's girlfriend and that her and Sanada were buddies. And we get confirmation that Yurisha from Iscander is in the navigation contrl unit of the Yamato.

Poor Domel getting double crossed like that. I'm almost certain he's based on German WWII general Rommel since their stories are very similar (and the name too!).

That brief Niimi fanservice moment at the doctor's office was quite...revealing.

Not as fabulous as the fifteenth, but not as quiet as the sixteenth, this episode shines for the many revelations, many others do not already guessed. Worth the little bit of suspense. Excellent design and colors! I liked it.

Everyone's a bit blasé about an alien taking over the body of one of the crew.

I guess they need her help and can't really say anything.

Another great episode. Sooo glad that Sanada survived. Mori isn't the Iscandarian??? Wow that was a big plot twist. I always thought that SHE was the Iscandarian who came an year earlier...After all she does look like the sister Kodai met in the first episode...

Really looking forward to seeing more of Domel's story!! I would watch a WHOLE anime series about him...Hopefully nothing happens to him or his wife :((

so it was yurisha who took over misaki.. and also the one who people hallucinated about!
but it was pretty odd that no one seemed to notice that something was wrong with misaki...

also good thing sanada died. phew, death flag averted.

Nice backstory for Sanada him and Mamoru were close. I was so upset when I thought he died, but good thing he didn't.

I really like this ending song it grew on me.

Neutrons flood the control room upon activation??? WHO THE FUCK DESIGNED THAT SHIT?

This show sure has a lot of things researched, like water being one of the most effective shields against neutron radiation, but goddamn are all the lines so fucking cheesy. And eventually, things that made ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE before are having light shine upon on, but the reasons and explanations are FUCKED BAD.

I can't believe I took this show serious at one point.

Fuck me.

This ain't Yamato.

It's always the honorable people on the opposite side that get screwed over huh.

Still find it annoying how Yurisha keeps joyriding Misaki against her will just to walk around and enjoy the scenery. At least Sanada didn't die. The guy's such a troll setting up the mood for a death scene like that xD

This episode actually made me feel quite bad for Niimi. She probably also dislikes the Yamato's mission, because it's what Mamoru died for as a decoy, hence she partook in the Izumo mutiny.

So Domel is the classic Bel Riose archetype in this version. Shame for him.

That was some nice bait, making me believe Mori was Yuriska, then revealing it all, that said, they both look very similiar, one another.

I can confirm they are not, since they are from different races.

Nothing some paint can't fix when the only difference between these races is skin colour (even the races on Earth vary by much more than skin colour, which is strange). (She could also be a half-breed, making the girl her half-sister).

Great! I recognize that old age is something that serves, at least I have not fallen into the traps made so far to imagine something that was not true. The revelations made about what really happened to Yurisha, are worth the whole episode despite the initial part is very interesting, even the ending is very intriguing, with Misaki who reveals his secret. Now we leave for the final battle, what a thrill! <3

Sooo...
The girl found on Mars was Sasha.
The girl living on the ship is Yurisha.
The girl ruling Iscandar is Starsha.
Yuki is NOT an Iscandarian.

As for the plot, I guess that Zoellick Helm (that loud guy voiced by the legendary Norio Wakamoto) seems to be the one behind the assasination, he dislikes Domel. I also like that Melda made an appearance again! The Gamillas' music theme is just pure evil.

I like how there're more and more details to the relationships between the cast. Young Niimi is cute :3

There're still unanswered questions though. Why did Yuki have Starsha's message? Why is there a problem with Yurisha's memories? Did Okita-san bring the doctor to do something about Yurisha's memories? Why is Misaki possessed?

Phew, if Sanada had died i'd have been legit sad so Thank God. Surprisingly large number of plot points were touched upon and new ones relieved, all in one episode.

The Garmillas commander that was withdrawn when he was just about to destroy the Yamato, it does make sense for the hasty decision if they actually believed he was among the guilty, i previously thought it would just be for him to attend the funeral so this makes more sense. Also there is a brewing power struggle within Garmillas now, i still don't think Dessler is dead so maybe he's using this to fish out the traitors from among his forces.

Interesting backstory for Niimi and Sanada, Niimi definitely had feelings for the XO, interesting to see he wasn't even military initially cause he looks an army man through and through since we knew him. With the revelation about Kodai's brother i will expect some deeper bonds between the two now.

Finally, the most important being Mori, we finally have confirmation she was human, although the canny resemblance tells me there might be more to this story. The radio girl always being misty eyed hasn't sat well with me for a while so thank God we finally got a satisfying reason. If they weren't giving the actual coordinates to Iscander, doesn't that put the legitimacy of the whole mission at risk, how far can they deep dive into her memories? what if it fails?
