"The Light of Outer Space"

It seems the League Militaire is VERY desperate (as it should be), they were willing to take out a colony to end the war. I'm saddened by another brutal death of a Shrike pilot. Being taken out by a bomb in space is pretty bad way to go. Katejina continues to get on my nerves, b/c I don't understand her at all. Its as if she's blaming & looking down on Uso. It surprises me how powerful Uso and Shakti seem to be as Newtypes. Seeing as they've spent so much more time on Earth and have just recently come to space. This series is just continuing to rise in intensity.

Another one bites the dust... the hottest pilot had the hottest death, meh.

Shatki's back :) and at the rate they are killing off female pilots, I can only foreshadow Marvet's death! Argh!

And wow... poor Uso unintentionally becoming a mass murderer.

Overhelming episode with Uso shooting that cannon though I don't really like the idea of the League Militaire using Uso who is only a little kid. And their aim was actually destroying a colony which is even more of a mass murder.
I'm loving the OST, it gives a lot more to the episode especially to massive destruction.
Well, I don't know why but they spoiled Junko's death with the previous episode's preview so I decided not to watch them from now on. Seriously >_<

I lol'd when Junko died not cause I hate her, but when they panned the screen over her naked body before she blew up it just looked weird. xD

Shakti is going crazy poor girl.

Tomino must have had women problems when he made this cause most of the characters that have died were women. xD

I'm glad I don't watch the previews as Junko's death was a bit of a surprise to me. It was a bit of a waste though, particularly as it was quickly overshadowed by the powerful scenes following the (rather unimaginatively named) big cannon being fired.

I'm glad to have Shakti back and it seems that Haro has been fixed too.

It's really sad that Junko died, but it was predictable, since we had that preview in the last episode... I wonder what happened to the that last piot of the Strike Team who still alive. I hope she doesn't die too, since everyone in this team is being killed.

Shakti and Uso's relationship is really strong! It's clear they're both Newtypes. I wonder if Shakti has the same "abilities" of Maria(since it's not clear if she was really making miracles or if it was a lie), and if Maria herself is a Newtype.

To be honest, if they ended up destroying the colony, they would harm Zanscare a lot. Zanscare and Zeon would to that.

RIP Junko, who's going to be reckless in battle now ;_;

RIP Junko, she was the hottest.

I still don't know wtf Katejina is doing, she said several episodes ago she is a double agent but now she is killing left and right and going after the people she love, what a messed up person. And the ending...Poor Uso.

I have nothing against Katejina becoming a soldier only for the sake of a man (that's stupid but she seemed dumb from the start). But I can't make any sense out of her dialogue, and that's a bad reminiscence of Zeta. And the way she fights should be immediately sanctionned by her superior.

She only said that because at first she felt ashamed (toward Uso) of her decision, it was nothing more than a poor excuse, of course it was doomed to fall apart rapidly because Uso will fight Zanscare until the end of the series.
When did it appear that she felt attached to the people she was forced to follow in the beginning?

I liked the Big Cannon design, it lacked the gigantism of a Solar Ray system but I guess it's normal when technology progresses to reduce the size of weapons compared to previous models.

Uso watching Junko's disposal from so close was kind of ugly.

4/5 And thus, a child was forced by the righteous Resistance to become a mass murderer (at least that's what they planned before Cronicle prevented it)

It is a Gundam tradition. How did you reach Victory before noticing it?

I doubt that was the point of this series of casualties. Something like "Look, war kills, dying on the battlefield is part of a soldier's duty/raison d'être".

@St0rmblade "Bewitched by Chronicle"? Mmmh, strange...
Despite your sayings and my own problems with Katejina (and Reccoa), I don't think it's fair to consider her like Reccoa. Actually, I don't even think it's fair to diminish the success of Reccoa's making, her motivations as selfish as they were were pretty well established. The problem was that Guru Paptimus had no charisma on screen, the attempt being nice but very clumsy.

About the P.S.: it is all because of the fact that "spoiler does not exist". (especially when people are talking about spoiling the death of a Shrike girl after so many episodes).

Eeeh, I legit don't know how to feel about this episode.

On the one hand, the Big Cannon firing sequence was fittingly shocking and conveyed the atrocity of war properly, as it made Uso into a mass murderer and made the League Militaire look no better than the Zanscare Empire (which I believe was the point), but on the other there's a lot of retarted shit that I simply can't wrap my head around, most of which has to do with Katejina. I don't know what her deal is but she reminds me of Reccoa in that she doesn't seem to have an actual, defined stance in the conflict opposing Zanscare and the Feddies/League Militaire, and her weird dynamic with Uso is more than reminiscent of Reccoa's own relationship with Kamille and Quattro where both women blame the men and kids around them for their own shortcomings. I didn't like it in Zeta so I'm unsurprisingly not liking it here either.
On another note, if this keeps up Uso will be emotionally and psychologically scarred for life by the end of the show. Kid needs some happiness.

Oh and Junko's death was dumb. What was that naked panning shot even for?

Uso's trauma gauge is filling up rapidly, in no small part due to another Shrike team member meeting a rather silly demise. However, using a weapon of mass destruction was relatively distasteful, particularly by an organisation opposing the Zanscare Empire. Katejina's actions were bewildering, as has become the norm.

Jesus Christ, poor friggin Uso. The dude is going to be in a mental institution like Kamille was in ZZ.

I thought this time around the death of Junko was lame. The three others I understand since it was more to show how terrible war is for Uso to witness, but this time I got to know Junko as a character.. and I just didn't care much. However, I'm glad the last several minutes did not mourn her death (I sound too harsh in this post) and the giant beam cannon scene happened. Glad Uso did not blow up the colony and destroyed the douchbag Zanscare armies mobile suits.

Katejina was a mistake. Is she now a proponent of global space matriarchy with a military rule and guillotines? Reminds me of Reccoa's change of mind from Zeta. Well, it's not like Katejina was painted in a good light from the beginning (with things like her comments about dead civilians), but still. She was given as little motivation to change her mind as Reccoa (with the difference of being bewitched by Chronicle instead of Scirocco)

but she reminds me of Reccoa

Gotta love reading the thread after posting my own comment to find out that I didn't say anything original xD

Is Tomino trying to mentally torture Uso even more than Kamille? Seems about right. He blew up a girl right in front of him.

Also, when Katejina picked Chronicle up after setting a bomb, she could've just shot Victory and Junko from the back...oh well.

By the way, did the show forget about the existence of Martina? I also bet Fuala's going to return closer to the end as a "final boss" or something.

P.S. People still watch episode previews before watching the respective episode, not after. Why

P.P.S. I believe the cannon was initially thought to hit a spaceport? So that's basically shooting through a colony lol. What a messed up plan. Not better than gassing a colony.

On paper this episode should have been great: Uso loses his mother figure and blinded by grief he becomes a mass murderer f̶o̶r̶ ̶o̶u̶r̶ ̶s̶a̶k̶e̶ to stop the war. The problem is that direction and writing made everything involuntarily hilarious: Katejina is tripping balls while she destroys the city, Uso forgets how to talk without screaming and Junko dies because yes and she we also see her naked for some arcane newtype reason.
Just... damn. I'm the type of guy who cries to sad Pokémon episodes, but this is too much.

Holy shit Junko death just caught me off guard, and sad too

But I'm kinda surprised that it's not the typical bomb defusing trope like cut the right wire you're saved, nor cut the wrong one you died

Girl just went straight up there for a second and get vaporized
