First week's sales of Oda Nobuna keeps rising from volume to volume. |
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old? I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them? I wonder how long people would put up with this. As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series. |

There is no way anything will oversell One Piece within it's first two weeks, unless something like Hunter x Hunter or Naruto releases a volume a week afterwards. Also, nice to see Beelzebub and Area no Kishi doing well. Hope their anime make a comeback. Beelzebub especially, since it's manga is getting really good as of late. |

I think it's fine this way. Just like with Aria, the atmosphere in Yotsuba&! is something very fragile which would be hard to adapt without the right staff. And when Azuma was disappointed by the imho rather decent Azumanga adaption I doubt he will greenlit an anime about Yotsuba so fast, even when the staff holds some promise. Not to put down the Big Three, but any journey for me is less epic than Berserk anyways Yeah, apparently Gintama and Beelzebub rank at around the top 10 of WSJ. But fear not, Assassination Classroom apparently beat One Piece in the WSJ rankings and that's a gag (it's even been selling like a mainstream shonen, vol 1 with a total of 700k, vol 2 totaling 600k). I don't really have a preference on the genres, but if I were to chose one, it would be psychological thrillers. Which is funny considering my top 5 favorites has just one of them, that being Death Note, which I don't think will lose it's position anytime soon for me. |

Four things anyone can understand easily: fighting, romance, suspense, and sadness. So they are more popular. That's true when you pull up the most popular anime in MAL. Comedy, in the other hand, requires some degree of cultural understanding and immersion. This explains in part why anime sitcoms don't usually fare well overseas, especially in the case of culture-centric gags like Gintama. That said, the lack of popularity for Gintama is also a blessing for its ratings since almost all the people voting are committed fans already. I had had a discussion about this very topic in Gintama's forum a while ago. |

Beelzebub is less popular, because he is not appealing for girls and kids. His audience is pretty much limited to more adult male readers. |

I like Beelzebub and I'm a girl and started reading maybe 3 years ago? When I was 13 or 14? o.0 I mean, it's definitely not my favorite, but it is great. It also depends on the arcs. I don't have many manga I read weekly, but when Beelzebub get's good- like now- weekly here I come :) I didn't like the anime though -.- |

Till now I still don't understand AssClass' success, as one of the comments stated, it beats One Piece in the WSJ Ranking, I was like "WHUT?". It might be just like Nisekoi, staying on the top for a while, and after a while people will start to lose interest in it, same thing happened to KnB as well, but the upcoming 2nd season anime might give it a boost :) Never thought Nisekoi was great, just decently good.. |

And BTW, the link with Azumanga Daioh was denied by the author himself. So part of the story you knew is a denied rumor. I'm still hoping the author change his mind though... |
