We are seeing nine (I count Hidamari as well) breaking 10k mark for vol.1 sales which means the Fall Season has a rich harvest. By comparison the current season looks really weak in terms of sales projection. |
So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old? I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them? I wonder how long people would put up with this. As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series. |

Amazing for GaruPan's 7th week. I suspect most of those sales were from HMV, considering it has ranked 1st amongst Anime BD/DVDs everyday between January 29 (this is when HMV finally restocked) to February 5... save January 30 where Jojo BD v1 placed 1st. It seems to be weakening on HMV though. Now ranked 48th amongst all products on HMV, when it was hanging around 15~20 yesterday. Of course it will be interesting how GaruPan holds up on Amazon JP when it is eventually restocked this month... Edit: removed deleted post quote |

For Magi, the concern is more on what will happen from vol.3 onwards when it no longer has any event ticket bundled. According to Amazon Stalker projection, the sales can drop as much as to just ONE FOURTH of the current level. This can spell big trouble for the overall average. Of course they can bundle event ticket for vol.3 to bump up sales, but then for how many volumes can you keep bundling event ticket? |

Am I the only one that is sad that SSY is doing so poorly? Like, poorly is hardly harsh enough to describe how bad it's doing :/ And I really like the show... sigh. Nice to see that Little Busters is selling decently though, I only really care about animated Refrain anyway so would've been bad if it flopped sales wise. |

Whoa. JOOOOOOJOOOOOOOO! WRRRRRRRRYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!! Amazing, JoJo really outperformed Stalker predictions, they were at mere 14k. I'm not sure if it's specific case of some titles (JoJo, Chuuni, GuP) or maybe HMV got much more popular in last few months? I think it had lower impact on sales earlier. Horizon Hell Yeah Strongest 1st week achieved with 5th volume of second season immediately after weakest 1st week with 4th vol? Now that is something surprising. 21k average still seems realistic. Stupid Magi got ahead of Darkness... gotta watch it and join the fans, eh? At least TLR clearly shows it's better than LB! GuP 26.5k yay~ |

So you mean looking at the BD daily ranking and check for the anime titles. Now I get it.The only BD chart Oricon publishes on their website is the all-genre ranking. For subscribers, the all-genre Top 20 goes out the same time as the animation-only Top 10. Usually the charts get combined by 2ch/dtshyk each Tuesday if more than 10 anime are in the all-genre Top 20 but this time the animation-only 1-10 ranking numbers just weren't included. |

I'm not sure if the anime is helping novel sales though, which is the real deal-maker or -breaker when a title is selling ~3k like this. I'm constantly surprised at how good the show is, and how well the emotional struggles of the characters are portrayed, and I'd like to at least see it not flop. Just need to decide if ¥8190*8 was in my budget. I only imported four Fall '12 series, so in theory it shouldn't be a problem to add one more. I just want to make sure it doesn't drop the ball in the end. The light novels are wonderful, so much more happens than they have time to animate. I have all the LNs and really hope they can do up to the end of the last volume out so far, eight. I bought the BD and the first batch of CDs as well. The new OP isn't a favorite though the new ED is growing on me. Bought LB2 as well this week. Great package, the booklet is wonderful with illustrations, Rita interview (OP and ED), pictures from the tamago story. Great episodes too. And I got Zoetrope, Black+White and Kotoura - san OP CDs and gdgd faeries, the Love Live Best Live CD/BD collection, forgot to get their single this week, duh... Will have to order it with the next one. The BD of Love Live Music videos is great! They are in idol, swimsuit, maid, flight attendant outfits, cute beyond belief! |

Sakurasou did slightly better than stalker said, Magi and Jojo did far better, the latter going so far as to comfortably steal second from Chuunibyou in a single week. No surprise in Medaka Box not ranking. Just Seitokai no Ichizon 2 and Teekyuu left from 2012 stuff now. |
There is no such thing as shit taste. Only idiots who think everyone should have the same taste as they do. |

Im really happy for sunrise.IceBurn said: Also im so glad to see Accel World up there. I was under the impression people hated it lol. Its sales are pretty solid, though not spectacular, considering how much the novels sell. I think it also has the misfortune of being compared, in terms of sales, to SAO, which is selling like 5 times as much. |

Jojo makes me proud. Generally the top selling series of fall are for once exclusively series than I fully support, so yay for that. It's also always great to see anything related to Tiger & Bunny still sell so well. |
I probably regret this post by now. |

Downgrade355 said: Actually JoJo is not guaranteed to sell this well at the beginning. Granted JoJo has a big fan base but it is also considered to be a work that is from the very old days. When the character designs first came out I still remembered the clear lack of enthusiasm among anime fans in Japan about its prospect. The guess is it would sell reasonably well, but perhaps 10k or so is its limit. So this result is actually something that is much better than expected. manly awesome protagonist, badass action shounen, compared to the tons of crap we get each season, i would have lost faith in humanity if JoJo didn't sell. And why? From what I read, the anime production should get a lot of credit for skilfully and carefully updating the presentation, art style, music and directing to a contemporary form that sticks close to the spirit and appeal of the original manga despite its limited budget (as can be told from the economical way of animation). And then much credit must also go to all the seiyuu who did a marvelous performance of each hero and villain and side narrator (hi, speedwagon; hi, Stroheim). Everything stays consistent and never falters even as it enters the second cour. It is because of all these people that JoJo manages to snatch the no.2 position of the bestseller ranking for the Fall Season, only below the biggest surprise of 2012 - Girls und Panzer. |
