The plot drive was weak at the start and i thought he it looks kinda promising looks like there are more characters to be found for the plot to unveil itself. Well i was actually wrong the plot's drive is slower than ever keeping male viewers dolling on their desk while asleep. Maybe they can keep the female viewer entertained long enough with some Yoai BDSM, and snip bits of undressing fan services from our male cast of characters. And i know for a fact that it was not the genre that made this anime so unbearable.

Considering Tonari no Kaibutsu and Say you love me had me from episode one. Am i the only one? How do you guys feel about it so far.

i was kinda losing interest after the first couple episodes but i watched the 3rd and 4th episodes last night (i didn't have the will to watch it when the 3rd ep came out) and i gotta say the story finally started picking up, especially with the 4th and newest ep. from your list it looks like you only watched the first ep so i'd say give it a couple more.. it may or may not end up catching your interest after all but it does get better.

This show is fine with me. There's the usual shoujo elements (i.e. sparkling bishounen) as this was based from that kind of manga. Originally it was only labeled as shoujo or aimed to shoujo(s). Later, shounen-ai was added. The mangaka / original creator most works are in shounen-ai so that explains the added services for BL fans.

As for episode 1, it was kinda slow like any shoujo series but there are more elements in here compare to just simple shoujo that mostly centers on romance, predicaments on and the protagonists' relationship. While I enjoy Tonari no Kaibutsu, I have problem watching "Sukitte Ii na yo" since ep 1. I found "Sukitte Ii na yo" a very typical shoujo story, a cliche, of which popular boy meets ordinary girl and end up together later, despite the girl has many rivals. This is the reason why I shy away most from shoujo romance manga and I found myself later reading shoujo manhwa and also end up myself to become a BL manga fan (as BL manga are generally free from the restrictions or bounds found in shoujo romance manga/anime).

In the end, what I am trying to say is that, watch it if you feel like watching it or eventually drop it. The show from the start may not be to your taste so you found yourself having difficulty watching it.

I am still trying to continue watching Sukitte Ii na yo when I feel I'm in the mood for it. It's only because the voice actor in that show is one of my fav. TBH, it's difficult sometimes since the story isn't much to my liking.

@Lieila

I am half way through episode where i have stopped dude to lack of entertainment. Yes Sukitte Ii na yo was indeed very cliche in the start and kind of all around, but the input of evil rival bitches helps the entertainment value a lot. Probably what was another selling point for me and not you was that Mai was a very interesting character compared to her lover of course. But one to what matters. So this anime is actually label as shounen Ai, this might be what is making this unbearable for me. Shounen Ai are heavily targeted towards the female leaving us males with raised raised eye brows with all metro sexual and homosexual tendencies arriving throughout the anime.

But even through that i just ignored the fanservices for woman and just continued on with the story looking for interesting bits to salvage. But to no avail the plot doesn't seem like it will have a strong enough to keep it interesting, everything seem half assed. Maybe they tried to break away from the Yaoi genre to make something lightly coated that everyone could enjoy but we were left with not much in the end.

Im actually torn because i thought this could have been very good.

The shounen-ai here in this show so far, is technically on the borderline. The attachments to the same gender here are only (or generally) exhibited to loyalty, friendship, familial attachment, or brotherhood. It's not to the extent of being romantically involved like that shown in Junjou Romantica anime. Generally this show (or the manga this was based from) is aimed towards shoujo, just with bits of shounen-ai undertone for fanservice. ^_^

There's no yaoi in here. Yaoi gear towards explicit contents. If you watch any yaoi, you'll see the difference in productions and budget judging, even from the start of the show. Most yaoi produced were on limited budget. The animation for one suffers from this limitation. Hakkenden, on the other hand, is actually in high quality even if to compare among shoujo anime. I am not saying it's perfect. In anime or story, there's always some loopholes that we can find or something we can't just get into. So, I understand where you're coming from. I had numerous anime that I dropped due to these some elements I can't dig.

I'm only watching cuz of the OP, ED, and VAs.

Otherwise, this show lacks decent characters, animation, storyline, plot, etc.

It seems some people confuse brotherly love with yaoi. This anime is not yaoi (at least so far).

To my knowledge, there's none. There are just some light shounen-ai hints. The manga was originally labeled in shoujo. Last time I checked in MU, shounen-ai was added when the anime was soon to air. I'm surprised when I just checked again this time, that label was removed.

Also, it depends on you how you interpret a simple action like holding hands of friends of the same gender. ^_^

Just to be clear, when we talk about yaoi here, it means the material contains boy on boy in sexual situation (more graphic) while shounen-ai, on the other hand, is boy on boy in romance (there might be kissing scene but generally no sex scene; if there is, it's implied).

If you like K, this show will just be fine with you. Even K has some slight shounen-ai undertones in it. ^_^

I agree, but I don't think Hakkenden is that bad either thou...

and there are some shounen ai moments in the anime but they are not so obvious that people might not be able to "sense" it.

This anime is confusing as hell for me mentally.

It's like, underlying BL aspects and yet the plot is totally like a normal stereotypical anime.

I want to watch it because plot isn't terrible but I'm not really a fan of the underlying message. It's really confusing. Why they do this?!

emm... i can't really see how did u end up comparing this anime with others like tonari no kai, or sukitte, coz they r way too diffrent, it's true that this anime is a shojo, but not really romance !!

personnally, just watched it today, i was attracted to the good graphism, but end up loving the story, so i actually watched the 7 episodes in a row, and i did enjoyed it
this story has a lot of secrets (like: who's the other guy who looks jus like sousuke ?! and why did reo give them that mission ?! ), so i can't wait for next episodes !!
ofc, also liked the fan service :3

well, i can still understand ur 1st impression, but still, u should try watching more, maybe u will see this anime's good points...

This.

I don't know how people are so bothered by the /yaoi/, can you even define what yaoi is to begin with? There's nothing close to that.

Also, I think the plot progress is slightly slow, but I'm kept entertained so.
