THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- So now you can watch it streaming and ripped. I really enjoyed it! I loved the parts that were based on the manga. But the ending took me by suprise. Awesome :D And finally we get a OP ending again (I really miss those) Great watch :D And without a doubt the best of the 3 specials. |

It was awesome. Very well adapted. Only thing it lacked was enough Brook fighting. ;P |

Not very good. In the romance dawn pilot a rope would stop Luffy, but in the point in the story in which they inserted teh romance dwan adaptation it was very stupid to stop him with just a rope. And also he didn't need gear third to destroy a ship. He had already done domething like that in the baratie and he was far weaker than he is. Not very well adapted... |

I loved it. I think they really combined Romance Dawn with One Piece really well. I laughed when I seen Panda-man :). |

Yeah, I noticed these plot holes too :P but we gotta take in consideration that this isn't canon, so what happens here doesn't really matters xD Anyway, I liked it, the animation was good, the VA wonderful as always, we got some "new" great characters such as Silk, Galley and the mayor. The down point is that the plot is kinda predictable (which is expected) and some adaptation problems. Btw, am I the only that thought this guy's head extremely funny? xD |

I agree with the people who complained about plot holes. It was full of them!! I mean, that place is obviously not on the Grand Line if it's being attacked by people with bounties of 5 million. Someone like that would never even make it to the Grand Line. They should have just adapted it without adding the current OP cast, even though I love all of them. Silk was very interesting. It's pretty obvious that there are parts of her character that eventually became everyone else. She looks and - in some ways - acts a lot like Nami. She uses a sword like Zoro, she cooks like Sanji and she was abandoned by her pirate father like Usopp. There were two Pandaman cameos!! He appeared in the ED too. |

It's not canon so why you're you're complaining, this special was only made for mere entertainment.. btw I really loved it, galley was a really funny villain and silk was great also...^^ |

I thought it was pretty cool. To those that didn't ... As for the rope holding Luffy, I never really felt that the rope was holding him back. If he wanted to be free he could have been. IMO he got roped up because he didn't want to fight the villagers, and then when Galley showed up he just didn't bother taking it off. He probably should have but hey, its Luffy... he ain't too bright. As for using Gear Third to destroy the ship... why not? IMO it is partly him just showing off to Galley as a way of telling him off. Like saying, "Look you ain't a pirate. This is what a pirate can do." And finally, the comment about the 5 Million Beli pirate in the Grand Line... I say why not? People are born and raised in the Grand Line. So maybe Galley was just getting his start? Not all pirates have to find their way into the Grand Line. You can never understand the true genius of Oda. Plus, if it's not cannon ... it doesn't matter I guess. :) [edit] Another thought about the 5 million beli bounty. Bounties are a measure of a characters threat level to the government, ie how much they want them caught. It is not a measure of power. Think of Ussop, and Chopper. Chopper clearly has more physical strength than Ussop but Ussop's bounty is higher. Ussop did some things at Enis Lobby that got the governments attention while Chopper was barely seen doing anything. Same thing with Kidd from the Manga. His bounty is higher than Luffy's, not necessarily because he is more powerful, but because he killed civilians and was seen as a threat by the government. |

"I said 'hands off'!" "Leg." That part was the most hilarious. xD Otherwise, pretty okay, a few plotholes, but...eh what can you do? Anything that happens here doesn't really matter anyways. xD Just for enjoyment. It recovered, to me, with lots of Luffy! |

I didn't like that Luffy spent wayy too much time in this anime looking angry.while he was standing there looking angry the girl kept getting the crap beat out of her several times and the whole town was hit with canons while he was putting on his angry face. Also sucks that if it wasn't for that one girl the great and powerful Luffy would've been killed with one kick to the butt and a bunch of water by the weakest pirates I've ever seen. |

Glad to know I'm not the only one who thought these plot holes were no big of a deal. I say I enjoyed the ova a lot. I liked how they were able to adapt the other straw hat pirates into the story but still able to maintain some of the original story. Kabi said: Also i detected a lot of stuff almost directly copied form the buggy/arlong saga -.- boring... predictable... only good part was the hands off... leg Well this story was an adaptation to the first Romance Dawn manga version that Oda did before One Piece ever happened so it's natural for him to reuse some of his original ideas to incorporate them into the current One Piece. |

Nice special, kinda strange it took Luffy so long to beat them since that guy was only 5 mil and he 300 but I'll forget that for now :P Funniest moment was when Luffy kicked him and that guy was like "I said hands off!" Luffy; "leg" ._. Best moments was Shanks flashback though :D |

So they adapt Romance Dawn with 300 mil bounty luffy and still make him lose against someone with a 5 mil bounty... |

YoruichiS2 said: "I said 'hands off'!" "Leg." That part was the most hilarious. xD Yeah, I got a good kick out of that. Outside of that though, this didn't really have a lot of entertaining moments. I'm a bit conflicted about the insertion of the Straw Hats into this story (Note: at the time of this writing, I have not read the pilot but it's pretty clear which portions are anime original & which aren't). On one hand, it places this firmly at point in the series where there is absolutely no excuse for Luffy to just stand there and watch this insignificant pirate trounce all over his Straw Hat. A lot of the other "problems" it creates are things that I can easily overlook or aren't even problems but no matter how hard I try, that scene is just plain wrong in context. But on the other hand, my favorite part of the special (outside of maybe that joke) was when the Straw Hats showed up & just started bickering with each-other. Because the story on it's own, just isn't that noteworthy, like a lot of pre-Arlong Park One Piece. There were several similarities noted already in this thread between this & early One Piece, so I'll throw out that Gally has the treasure is "Gold, Silver, etc." dialogue that Buggy had, almost verbatim. Anyway, there isn't much to this story, Gally is a poor, unfunny villain (I like his beard though), while the story is obviously nothing more than a prototype for One Piece. Silk herself is certainly not a compelling character but I don't hate her. She's likable, I guess. The visuals were solid here though & the OST felt minimal. I can only remember three times it was used, I suppose the other instances could've just been really forgettable. I didn't care for the implementation of the tracks but the tracks themselves are good. 5/10. |

I really liked this but it as very annoying to see Luffy struggle with a guy who had a 5 million bounty. Plus if he was able to kick the guy at the end with his hands tied up, why did he just stand there and let him stomp on his hat? It's kinda embarrassing the way they made Luffy look. |

so let me get this straight: Luffy is a walking weapon of mass destruction that's already beaten the likes of Enel and Lucci at this point of the story and he can't break free of a fucking CARPET ROPE? BAD. |

Anybody know the name of the track when Luffy fights Galley the first time in the harbor trying to save the girl? Isn't it a edited version of "Run Away"? I wanna know because I wanna listen to it outside of the episode. |

Another fun one, the best part about One Piece is that I would, and will, watch everything with these characters in it because I love them so much and they are just so fun to watch |
