@SomeRandomBloke the truth is, the movie was simply not good. Though some people liked this trash, so they cope by claiming that everyone else is too stupid to understand it.
The movie isn't hard to understand, when you basically split it in two movies. The officer guy, Konakawa I believe is his name, basically felt guilty that he was jealous of his friend and ending up abandoning their movie. His friend later died, and due to his guilt of the unfinished movie, his mind projected that it was a murder. So he's constantly chasing after the murderer, but in truth the "murderer" is a metaphor of his guilt never going away. Once he was able to move on from the death of his friend, the "movie" (his dream) was finally complete.
The rest is basically the guy in the wheel chair teaming up with the brown haired guy that's jealous of morbidly obese fat ass, Tokita is his name, and has a crush on the MC. The dork and the guy in the wheel chair work together, with the guy in the wheel chair getting the dork's body. Also, another fat guy was close friends with Tokita, but they get depressed because they have a crush on the dork that likes the MC. They have gender dysmorphia because they realize that the dork doesn't return their affection due to them not being an attractive girl. That's why they were always wearing girly clothing and being portrayed as a doll. The MC, not Paprika, likes the Tokita for being smart I guess, which is pretty much the only decent thing about him. It's a self-insert, so a morbidly obese fat ass that's lazy, childish, greedy, and a butt monkey has to end up with an attractive and intelligent woman that everyone else likes. Such a woman can never end up with someone cool, like Konakawa. The problem is, not Paprika, basically projects herself into the dream as Paprika. Yeah, Paprika is basically the MC, but actually interesting. The ending was basically them beating the guy in the wheelchair, who was basically just the grandpa and his ex friend from the Spy Kids: Gameover movie, but they were combined in this one. And not Paprika finally confesses to the whale that she has a crush on him. They become endgame, despite them basically having the chemistry of a person who begrudgingly tolerates an annoying coworker that's good at their job. Oh, and there was an old man that was their coworker. I mean, only Konakawa and Paprika are good characters. Tokita is just a disgusting character with no redeeming qualities. Though I will give him some credit, he's at least bad and gross enough for me to remember his name. Can't say the same for the nothing characters.
I could analyze it deeper and catch things that I missed. Maybe have a better understanding of the movie. And it would still be bad. Konakawa's subplot was interesting, the rest of the movie not so much. |
