THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
I don't know how to proceed and even what to say about this since I didn't get what the plot is or if ever there is one, then maybe I'm just slow and not perceptive enough. x_X I had to re-read the synopsis again to make a sense of what's going on. Computer data, eh? No physical bodies then only virtual ones. Come to the 21st century from 31st? Uhmm time travel? So data or information can be sent back in time...well, whatever.

The animal scenes were fine but the kid sitting among the birds vanishing, the mannequin turning it's head when she left and finally, the last scene with her last line creeped me out though. >_<

4/10. I guess I'll watch more hentai then, at least those have threadbare plot that I can still grasp. LOL

It's amazing. So much to tell in short 17 minutes.

I was also at a slight loss. I would have liked to have been able to watch a version with english subs for the screetest section as I feel like that might have given me some idea as to what was going on in the mind of that girl. I will say I liked the animation alright. I actually reminded me of a square enix video game in a weird sorta way. But yeah, the way I took it as this girl was basically just going through virtual simulations of scenes (data) recorded from time past? I don't know if that was right but I could be way off as well?

It's clear once I read the synopsis, and the few lines & ED had subs. It's literally slice of life documentary styled, using some matrix style to show the mc, a 3d digital being, observing 21st century (mostly stylized live action/photos) as a tourist. The title cards were helpful describing what she's observing.
Cat & buildings going CG wires remind of matrix a bit. Not sure what it's trying to mean, maybe nostalgia, & giving a sense of unfamiliarity. I think it succeeded well in the Photoshoot: mc started confused & uncomfortable, then sorta learned the job. Mannequin part I didn't get, something about cold city crowd, but people are still secretly curious about others. Screen Test seems to imply others are observing mc just as mc observed those places, some matrix thing i dunno.

Nice osts. For 2002, cg design was good with sorta Macross fashion, and especially animation was somewhat lifelike with some details. Sol pacing was really slow & boring tho, & often the meaning is vague.

Visually nice with its animated photos. But Mikimoto's charadesign would look better on 2D figures.
I didn't understand why those elements were chosen for a XXI exploration.

Enjoyment: 3/5
Score: ?/10

This was really slow and kind of painful to watch.
If it was longer and executed better it would be decent (an outsider viewing the 21st entry), but it was not very interesting.

This could have been decent, but really fails so as it has barely anything interesting to offer. While it looks decent, visually, the plot is rather senseless. I do appreciate the music, however, which I quite took a liking to.

I really had no problem with this one, though I knew going in that it wasn't going to be that bad. MAL seems to have a hate boner for 3D and art animation, and this is both.

Weird synthesis of live-action photos/videos with heavy filtering and 3D-adapted Mikimoto design, directed by Kazuya Konaka (the brother of Lain's writer, yes), with some participation from Chiaki himself and...Ichirou Itano.

I'm Rayca
Yes, I love Movies and I admire foreign actors as well.
Huh? Where am I right now? I didn't think about it. I don't have a clue about that.
Right...in reality. I know it incessantly.

I couldn't stand this. It's so slow and boring and doesn't even look very good. I actually like Rayca's late PS1 graphics, but the rest I don't. Even at under 20 mins, it just drags on and on. Avoid.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
