| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Kid comes to steal a clock from the city and Shinichi is there to try and stop him! And then the episode goes on to become an hour long episode about a mansion with a dark past.. The ending turns out Mouri was Kaitou Kid the entire time, how exciting... This was all orchestrated perfectly by Conan, I wonder if Kid ever got worried about being caught, I had absolutely no idea that Kogoro was Kid! It's interesting to also see that Kid knows about Shinichi being Conan, he's like a brilliant detective himself... I love watching the life of Kid! When she rips up the newspaper and then he magically reconstructs it oh man I would have a blast doing stuff like that in school... The beginning part is a great episode of Shinichi Vs Kid, wow I can't wait to see more episodes like this.. The only thing I'm curious is when this took place, did he use the drug Ai made to make himself bigger or something? Maybe it's like a flashback or something. |

The funny parts, the sad parts, the suspenseful parts, and the scary parts. I didn't even catch Mouri being disguised by Kaito until I read your posts here. LOL I was pretty much confused when I watched it. |

I've always liked the old mansion cases. I've seen this like twice before and always forget that Mouri is a fake until the end. I guess he didn't do anything stupid at the mansion, that should have given him away. I don't like Kid's attitude though. Once again though, the cops are the stupidest. |

| Kid had me completely fooled, he still acted like the clueless Kogoro we all know. But Turtle is right, most of the cops in this show are clueless, and the one Kid has to deal with is clueless and an egomaniac. |

| hell yeah, 93 min for one episode, it's the best episode so far if you asked me.. i enjoyed every part of the episode.. so Kid was Mouri the whole time ??! well, anyone can become Mouri if he doesn't say anything but bullshits and become as stupid as hmm,, i don't really know.. :/ maybe ant ? who cares! anyway.. that was a great episode.. that's why i love this show.. you get that feeling after watching a long episode.. i can't express it but it makes me want to watch more and more!! |

| I really don't get why they keep taking the same VA for Kaitou and Shinichi when the author has specified that they have no ties whatsoever... I'm also a bit disappointed at that Nakamori detective. The first few times his character appears, he seems to be quite smart and competent, but here he ended up become a simple Kogoro replacement. For the second part, I'm pretty sure you can't detect blood that old with luminol. Also, i sighed when marijuana was brought up as the reason for the massacre, people don't turn out that crazy from a lil smoke... That gold-watch sure seemed like plastic, considering the cheap sound effect and the way it rebounded on the floor. And honestly the explanation about the king, queen and jack didn't make any sense, but that might just be a language problem. And yeah, Kid's perfect acting is bullshit. Every single mannerism was spot on... Such thick is his plot armor. I might have to pause Conan for a while. Even though the mysteries are still for the most part interesting, I'm starting to think too rationally to be able to enjoy the rest, which is btw a sad thing to say about a detective show =/ |
| The first half hour kind of served no purpose? Like that flashback wasn't connected to the main part of the special at all. I am curious as to how Kid even knew about the detectives gathering at the mansion. Like...did he spy on people getting the letters? I have nothing against Kid, but I prefer him as a separate entity than Conan. I don't think he and Conan work well together because Kid is more supernatural (especially with that girl who can...summon demon power?) and Conan is more "grounded." |

| LOL Kid does have a very good plot armor but its what makes it fun. I'm just lol at the incompetent cops, no wonder Kid has no issue with defeating them. All they do is just yell. |

This is adaption of a story from the Kaitou Kid manga (I have never read that one) which started before the Detective Conan manga and then stalled...and then get revived for some parallel cases with DC. (By the way two anime adaptations for the Katou's manga and the most completed from both is Magic Kaito 1412). There are some inconsistencies between them. (Also inconsistencies between the two anime adaptations of Kaitou's manga). |

| This was a great movie/special. It gave me insight into what other world-class detectives are out there, and I wasn't expecting that twist with Mouri and the end as well. |

| The ID number idea was pretty clever. I was almost impressed by that inspector who was asking it. Turns out it was Shinichi's idea after all. Moving to that hidden treasure case...Wow! I was amazed of this whodunit episode. I couldn't tell which one was Kaitou Kid and when murders occurred, it got very confusing. All of the detectives(except Mouri 😔) showed their cunning ability to figure out what was happening and up to the end, even Senma knew Kaitou was among them! I'm impressed! 10/10!! |

The animation was horrible too, I think they were experimenting with digital animation here, which is a shame because Conan always looked best in cell animation... Although the move was going to happen eventually anyways. 3/10 |
| at some point i thought about how the 2nd part connected to the 1st part, but then that ending took me by surprise. really liked the shinichi part at the start, too bad it didn't continued that way. i kinda guessed half way the case, but it still were good and surprising, well directed. 9/10 |
| Pretty goood episode. I suppose I should’ve known it wasn’t Mouri when he didn’t smoke or flirt with the other detective. Would be cool to have a Shinichi, Heiji, and Hakuba showdown. |

| I read this case when I was in 4th grade, so 14-15 years ago, and it's the one case stuck to me the most. I remembered some details, but I completely forgot Kid was Kogoro the whole time. People in this thread say that Kaito's impressions are 100% perfect, but there were many things that seemed a bit different to our usual Kogoro, the first thing I thought was weird was the way he interacted with the grandma detective in the beginning, normally Kogoro would express his annoyance out loud This episode definitely felt like a movie and was very well written + directed. I liked Hakuba a lot, I hope to see him in future episodes as well |
| First of all, I'm going to miss the old door :( Man, what an episode! to think Mori isn't actually Mori is kind of sucks. This case is easily one the best so far. it'd be much better if Heiji was part of it. Conan and Heiji would annihilate this game. (I hope that day will come. Conan and Heiji vs Kaito Kid) and they got me tho I thought they killed each one. "of course, Mori is still alive somehow". that was exactly my thoughts. My only question is: Does Conan know the Mori they are with isn't the real one? and what happened to the maid?? Well, only Ymir knows. |
