I thought it royally sucked. It was pretty much all about how wonderful Japan and the Japanese are. That's all the main character kept mouthing off about, that's all. The story and characters were just plain terrible. The art wasn't very good either, especially comparing it to Berserk. Biggest beef with it, though, has to be the character Azuma. This was a nonstop Japan is wonderful parade and yet the guy looked like Jesus. WTF? |

Ahahahahahahaha oh wow. So deliciously fascist, they even let the symbol for peace to willingly give everything over to the incarantion of nationalism and violence, can it be more obvious? But unlike some iconic fascist propaganda, there's not even anything good with the presentation. It's all terrible. How could this guy have written Sanctuary? It defies everything. |

This manga was so funny, and yet terrible at the same time! |

This manga was okay. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't a masterpiece either, and I thought it had a bit too much propaganda. Considering the authors, I expected something way better! |

Fucking propaganda bullshit. I know, many of those machismo action mangaka are nationalists, but they normally have at least the decency to not make it THIS obvious. |
In 9/10 cases, the worst thing about an anime is its fandom. |

The man behind Berserk and the writer of Sanctuary teaming up must = masterpiece, right? Nope. A bunch of xenophobic right wing ranting sand the worst examples of Japenese insecurities wrapped around an awful contrived fantasy setting. Really poor and overall disappointing. |

The berserk parallels were all over the place, looks like yashima was a prototype for guts' fights. The story of the manga itself was horrible but worth reading to see how miura's signature art style looked like in it's early stages. |

It is licensed in quite a few languages - English is one of them. |

They're perfect for manga, light novel, and book collectors like me, making the process much less stressful and tiring. -g- |

I finished it. It is not like you described it, because the hard-line nationalism is missing. Did you even read the ending or is the reading comprehension level that low? It pulls almost a 180. At best you can say that the manga puts the ethnic Japanese in a spectacular light, but they end up making a multi-cultural and inter-racial state, anyway. Curiously, despite all the power holders in the Neo-European state being light-skinned, Neo Europa has allowed non-Europeans, like African "Black" people to live in its settlements. One of the leaders has an Anglo-Saxon name, Hilary, how come? Its distinctions are based on class, which is coded for racial hierarchy, obviously. The new Japan will have no class distinctions, so that means there won't be racism. Fucking stupid, but all of you are even more stupid for not grasping such a simple story and setting my expectations so high. Fuck you. |

@MoesianThracian finally someone said it for crying out loud. I thought that the symbolism couldn't be anymore blatantly obvious. This thread is full of idiots. ~ Sincerely, Chalc_ |
