Eh, no drop for Inu x Boku SS? That's one thing I wasn't expecting. The series turns out to be a real success after all, and not just a good performance on the discounted volume only to dwindle later on. EVOL did about as predicted, though I would have loved to see Stalker slightly underestimating it for it to break the 10k mark right away. For what it's worth, it's the first show I'm importing in a while, and I'm afraid it'll be joined by at least one spring series soon enough... |

I'm so happy to see Inu Boku is second best to Nise for Winter Sales... Can't believe it beat DxD and Boku Tomodachi....shows the power when it caters to both girls AND boys. At least, I THINK it appeals to guys? I'm no guy so I dunno. I think its eligible for a S2? How is Volume 3 for Inu X Boku doing? And ouch Brave 10. D: if only it had been executed better... Symphogear still going strong... So happyto see tamayura...shows there are still fuwa fuwa fans in the world. |

Inu x Boku SS definitely appeals to guys too, yes. It's one of the most successful late night anime I've seen at hooking both so equally. You can see that in the even DVD/BD spread - shows that appeal only to guys virtually never sell half their copies on DVD. phoenixalia said: I think its eligible for a S2? Easily. How is Volume 3 for Inu X Boku doing? It's doing fine. With Vol. 2 barely dropping at all I don't expect Vol. 3 to drop much either. And ouch Brave 10. D: if only it had been executed better... It completely nosedived for Vol. 2. I guess Vol. 1 came with an event ticket or something. Do you know the number of BD's sold? For Brave 10 Volume 2? |

Umm why does everyone keep saying Nise is a failure? Was it supposed to sell 80k or something? I think BKM sold something like that. Also, I noticed that Stalker predicted 10k copies more than what's here. |

You can't possibly be serious, What the hell does the format have to do with anything for crying out loud? general rule my nuts, i don't see any rule or any restrictions saying male otaku shouldn't be buying DVDs, and what do you mean "look at the sales"? i'm clearly looking at them and i have no clue what you're talking about. also like i said before, don't give me the "bishounen" or "butler" crap, is that some kind of joke or something? and last time i checked, there weren't any butlers in inu x boku, even if there were, if you're expecting the female otakus to buy the DVD's because of that then you must be out of your mind. also there's always the possiblity that it sold slightly better on DVD because it's cheaper? has that thought ever crossed your mind? and i didn't say anything about Nise, why would you compare to inuxboku? They're in completely different leagues, i actually felt offended that you went ahead and compared them, Nise is a masterpiece sir, please don't compare those two. Its called sales trends... any economic analyst will tell you that they are very valuable to follow. Generally, men are more technologically inclined so they will have PS3s and other BD players. Women generally aren't as technically inclined, so they might still have their DVD players and don't play video game as much. Due to this, they focus more on buying DVDs, while men buy BDs. We've seen over and over again that stuff aimed at men sell BDs, while stuff aimed at women sell DVDs. This is a sales trend that is pretty much in concrete, since I do not know any series off the top of my head in recent years that went against this. So if something like Inu x Boku sold just as many DVDs as BDs, it shows it has a significant female audience. |

this basically proves that monogatari series will sell like crazy in japan, and thus we are going to see most of the rest of the series animated. bakemonogatari sold like crazy and is number 1 since 2000 in bd+dvd sales, and nisemonogatari sells 50k for bd and 7k for dvd = 57k? thats freaking impressive |

LolSoMeme said: Dude, your arguement is based solely on some random data and god knows if it's reliable or not, and on that matter, Nisemonogatari sold 7K DVD's, does that mean that 7K was from the female otakus? Lol ffs. The same random 'unreliable' data you're citing to affirm that Nisemonogatari sold 7k DVDs... As everyone has been saying, a majority of males buy BDs while some still buy DVDs. Note the emphasis on majority. 7k DVDs for a total of 57k in sales? That's about 12%. I reckon 88% can be considered a pretty strong majority, but then yes, some males do still buy it on DVD. (And let's be honest here - Nisemonogatari has no female appeal whatsoever. Sure, a small percentage are probably female because they might like the dialogue or the look of the show, but let's not fool ourselves and think they're the norm here.) While the "females buy more DVDs than BDs" statement is, in my opinion, getting blurry with time, it is still a fact that your typical male otaku audience will buy many more BDs. You would never get a 50/50 repartition with an almost all male audience, it is a given that females are purchasing Inu x Boku SS massively. And honestly, do you seriously fail to see the fujoshi appeal of the show? It's certainly not just because Zange hits on Miketsukami. It's got plenty of bishounen with appealing character designs and an all-star cast. Let me point you to certain magazines like Pash or Animedia with their illustrations featuring all the guys... Inu x Boku SS was right up there with your average fujoshi series. |

LolSoMeme said: oh i also forgot to mention DxD, haganai, working!!, etc that sold on DVD too, does that also mean the female otakus bought them? Lol wow dude, just wow. I do believe Working has a female fanbase. Those two male characters in it seem to get quite a bit of attention from women. Just look at MAL, Jun has more favorites than anyone else but Inami. It certainly isn't the guys who are giving him the favorites. |

LolSoMeme said: Yes, InuxBoku has shit that might appeal to fujoshi, but it's dominated by the loli fanservice and Yuri goodness, am i wrong? and if remember correctly, "pash" or whatever that random insignificant magazine's name was, had like every bishounen the anime history has ever known, why would inuboku be an exception? Dominated? No. It's got as many BL undertones as it's got delusional yuri scenes. It's got plenty of Ririchiyo physical fanservice, but honestly that's just because fujoshi don't need equally obvious in-your-face fanservice to buy it. (And before anyone misunderstands me, I'm not saying Inu x Boku SS is an extreme case of the kind... it does have pretty tasteful fanservice for what it does, but my point stands to compare the behavior of the two audiences.) And no, Pash hasn't featured every bishounen in history. It features shows that appeal - and sell - to the female audience. |

Yes, that's the BL undertones I'm opposite to what you called "yuri fanservice". Do you see yuri in the series that is more blatant than what I mentioned for the BL? Unless you want to start counting the number of Nobara's delusions and tell me she had like 2 more than the number of moves Zange's made. o/ You're certainly not trying to make the point you said you were. We're saying it appeals to both about equally but you are basically denying all the female-oriented elements and then call out people on their ignorance? |
