Damn you Valentine. He did lie after all.

I have to admit that this was a tad bit anti climatic. let's see what happens now. The corpse is complete...

I don't really understand what happened in this chapter. What was Johnnys test supposed to do? And what was up with the guns merging?

The test was whether Valentine would hold his word and let Johnny go or if he would shoot him if he had the chance to do so. That's why Johnny let him pick up the gun.

And the guns merged because they were from different dimensions.

Ah i forgot about things from diferent dimensions merging. But now that i remember that, i think you're wrong. Johnny said the gun didn't have any bullets. The test was to proove Valentine didn't have another gun on him because if so the empty gun would fly at it when he came near.

Well he did end up lying. After all, presidents like to make promises and break them later, so that shouldn't be a surprise.

NOOOOO, Valentine, you utter fool! Ugh. Know when to admit defeat. Now there won't be any resurrections, as far as I can see. I want Gyro, Sandman and Hot Pants back. :( (And maybe Dio too, he ain't so bad in this universe)

Clever trick by Johnny, although I would have much preferred Valentine to not shoot. All hopes of Gyro being resurrected gone :(
Well, its better this way i suppose.

It'd be awesome if he didn't lie. But this outcome is... still good.

Come to think of it, how exactly does "Valentine is immune to the annihilation effect" work anyway? Obviously his clothes are fine, so should't the gun not be effected either, when he is the one holding it?

I'll go ahead and assume it's because Araki.

In my opinion, Valentine didn't lie at all. What he has done was because of his concept of justice which drove him to attempt to kill Johnny, there surely is a deeper reason than just "telling a lie "

That was so heartbreaking. Seeing Johnny cling to the last pieses of hope he had to see his beloved friend again, only to be destroyed by Valentine again. It wouldn'be THAT sad if he hadn't even started this talk about breaking Gyro back

Funny Valentine was a righteous person, but he was one that would be willing to take unrighteous actions with no hesitation in the pursuit of what he perceived as the greater good, and thats what truly made him evil.

He lied like most of politicians! But indeed, he was very convincing.

I liked how the last part of the fight against Valentine resembled classic cowboy vs. cowboy duels.

Johnny, even though he was being tempted by Valentine, resigned from even trying to bring Gyro from another universe to the base one. That was the most emotional and tense aspect of this fight after Gyro died, to be honest.

Imo that was really anticlimactic and kinda disappointing. And I loved it up until this point.

So Funny was just lying like any other villain ever. And he was killed by mere bullets at the end, while having such an OP stand that decided to stop being so OP all of a sudden. Seems like he’s joining the “JoJo main antagonists that got killed in the most basic ways” club.

Eh I hope the rest of the chapters are better.

Johnny is an absolute boss. Though the logistics of some of the stands are really wonky, the gun thing was well implemented. Valentine was a really good villain. What a climax.

I believe that valentine was not lying. It's more than that. What Johnny needed was proof that valentine would not have a back up surprise attack, but valentine's objectives have always been pure, if Johnny accepted the deal, he would've left him alive and done everything he promised to do, but in case he did not, he needed a back up to fight for his ideals. Ultimately, valentine's goal was not to make the deal, but to achieve his goal. This is the 1% Johnny was talking about, the 101% trust he needed, which shows the imperfectness of Johnny. Valentine is a character of no error, pure to the end. Funny Valentine truly is the most unique "villain" I've ever seen. The ending was a masterpiece.

Eh what was the point of that? Did Valentine think the infinite rotation would stop just because Johnny died? Why didnt he just shoot him immediately with his gun, surely Johnny did not need to remind him of his hidden gun.. he could have just not shot Johnny lmao.

I kind of think that it would have been a way cooler and at least morally more interesting ending (on the basis that there isn't another twist after this, I haven't read any further just yet) if johnny due to not being able to relate to what valentine says had shot him leaving the question if he was lying or not open and fully embracing that more chaotic and sinister side of johnny. This does not mean that he is evil or anything, just that he can't trust him and still wants revenge, like I said more morally gray.
Hello, please don't take anything I say as an insult, it is not meant as an attack against you as a person. If I directly disagree with you, that does not mean I think you are wrong, I am just more correct.

Well he was lying about them letting go part but all those things he said about patriotism I think because of that he will do anything just to give his country good fortune. In scheme of grander things he was ready to sacrifice them all.

@St0rmblade so real. This is my favorite manga chapter ever because of this one reason. All Johnny wanted was to bring his friends back so he used his last bit of trust on someone who couldn’t be trust. RIP Gyro
