Festival time where they put candles in the bamboos.

She doesn't remember much about the festival and her father broke his promise.

People from OVA (seems like one of them are Nakajima-san). Proposal with teacher?

The photo woman that she met is here.

Ultra neighborhood tallk lol~

Raining most of the day, but festival is still goes on because the rain stopped.

And another 5/5 episode.

Great atmosphere. It all seems so real and at the same time it is too happy to be true...
I really don't know how to describe it...

Like one is experiencing happiness...

(yeah, that sounds stupid, I know)

I'm just glad again to be watching this series. :D

Scenery porn at it's finest :]
other shows may have better graphics or more money into animation but this one has it most climatic and fitting the story

so still in climate of Aria (Natural this time) as there is lots of showing how people are waiting for that day and what means for them 'special' and also story about the place
really nice thing to see

even Norie wasn't irritating :D and I liked that scene where she talks about how everyone experiences things in different way (plus she doesn't go into her stalker mode this time :)
more shown by that divided screen while making Teruterubozu - great way of using it again!
it was nice to see and hear Shihomi again
and again, for me, Maon stole the show with her wish on the lattern - knowing her more, it was moving (of course Potte one was also great but... I don't know)

I wonder why Shouka was crying. This was the first time she appeared, right? I wonder if they'll go in deeper with her background.

@13man18

I believe someone close to her, probably her loved one passed away. She had an odd look on her face when she was talking about how it is said that the lantern notes will reach people who have passed on. Riho noticed the look and responded the way she did.
I am a seiyuu nut. I nerd out pretty hard when it comes to Toyosaki Aki and Hikasa Youko. They seem to be such lovely people.

I'm translating Hikasa's blog which you can find here.

I just started a blog translating snippets or posts from random seiyuu blogs that I find interesting or moving. Seiyuu Blog Snippets

I had flashbacks to Aria the Natural's Nightshine Chime episode.

What an absolutely stunning episode that was, and in my opinion, this Tamayura achieved such level of excellence. The insert song at the end was also beautiful.

She was talking that the festival might be seen from heaven if the clouds cleared and they way she mentioned it plus the letter she made suggests that someone dear to her passed away.
It was very touching to see her cry there.

That festival seemed very romantic and it looked very nice i wonder what the occasion was.
I also liked the number of people that came there with romantic things on there mind.
Just looking at the lights gave a very warm feeling.

goddamn what an episode, not only do we get glorious Shihomi by Hazuki Erino but the episode itself was just great! The atmosphere was perfect and it was touching at times too. This is why I love this show.

Another episode of pure happiness and sobs!
Everyone is so precious and adorable in their own way, everyone's feeling were portrayed perfectly, and my heart couldn't help but swell!
Maon disciplining the clouds was straight out charming! She's too moe~;w;♥

Potte's friends are so wonderful and supportive; I'm glad she's so happy~~ಥ⌣ಥ

I am thinking that she was saddened by the news of Fu's Father's death. She did say that he was a fun guy to hang out with, and she seemed close to him. I think her tears of a friend crying over the death of another friend, one she never got the chance to say goodbye to properly.

--Edit--
I watched this episode again, and as you can see here in the spoiler, Shouko's wish can obviously be interpreted as some sort of farewell to anybody who reads this. Coupled with the fact that she previously stated that people in Heaven can read these wishes as well makes me think that she wrote this message for someone who had died. The only person that has "died recently" was Potte's father, Shouko just found out that day. You can see her eyes wavering as they are all sitting at that table discussing what to write. Finally, the shot of Shouko crying during the festival.

So essentially, Shouko cared deeply about Fuu's father, and the news of his death saddened her to the verge of tears (which is why she wanted to write her statement in private. Writing such a message under such conditions would surely make any heartbroken person cry). So she goes off on her own, writes her farewell on the bamboo, and lights it, hoping Fuu's father gets the farewell she never gave them. At this point she is so saddened that finally lets all her tears out. ;_;

I personally would love an episode explaining Shouko's past attachment to Fuu's father and helping her get over her grief.

Maon herself is the one who said "Stop! Stop! Stop!"

When they were preparing the bamboos and start putting candles in them, I know that the festival will beautiful, but wow... It surpasses my expectation of what it'll look like... I thought the only part that will light up is the top of the bamboo, but half the bamboo pretty much lit up with the hole on top being the brightest...

Gives me the urge of buying some bamboo and light it up like that for this Christmas...

Beautiful scenery :O
Very good episode. Especially Shouko crying there between the happy people, as sad as it was, it was also very touching (though it was also kind of weird as we didn't really get to know much about her). I wonder who she was crying for. I'm guessing either someone in her family or a lover, or perhaps, as someone else mentioned, it could have been Potte's father.

Japanese folklore and celebrations, blend together the plot and comes out again this time a tiny pearl to behold with the eyes and heart.
Narrative to be savored slowly in dribs and drabs, because too much is deadly take having regard to its sweetness! * _ *
Very beautiful designs, even in what part of the seabed.
Nice also the characters that were added during the narration.
Funny lanterns and the teruterubozu! : D
The girl who cried at the end put me even more melancholy, I think it was Shouko.

Potte's father never celebrated that festival with her. :( Also it hit kinda hard to see Shouka cry. I did't expect that at all. It must really cool to be in that festival in real life. With all the bamboo and candles. Great episode.

A very nice episode. I wonder what Shouko's story is. I imagine we'll soon learn.

Poor Dougo having to eat, foiling his plans! Probably one of the only situations you wish you weren't eating a huge meal given to you by your crush!

Glad Potte to finally see the path of longing. Beautiful lantern lighting, and most of all great back-music.

Well, anyone can confess regardless of gender, yeah.. But also sudden confession.. Well, I hope it's not their first date or something, as they can just frighten that person, lol.. Well.. Life is full of some sad and happy things..
Teacher also wants to confess.. Is this holiday known for confessions or something?.. Or just some random coincidence?..
lol, Norie, your wish.. ;P
Who was that girl that cried in the end?.. Was it Shouko?.. Did she lose someone?.. As maybe something like this was implied, but not sure..
