I think it was really good old school series, and I am glad I watched it.

True, some things were repetitive, but overall it was really enjoyable series with funny characters like Ryuunosuke and her crazy father, or Cherry who can appear just about everywhere, or that crazy strong girl Asuka.

8/10, altough I was even considering giving it 9.

And final episode is simply proper for this kind of series with old characters appearing again + some cameo(s) - for instance Kyoko from Maison Ikkoku.

Now, to watch movies, specials, and whatever was left to see from this, as far as I know, famous old school anime.

And that's it. 195 eps seen, wasn't bad series, I'm not sure if it's safe to call it romance but it had fun parts so comedy gengre definitely fits under tags.
now lets check out ovas +movies.

Btw> There were even characters from other Rumiko Takahashi work, e.g. Kyoko from Maison Ikkoku was sweeping ground in her typical kyo pyo apron, interesting.

I'm happy. 195 episodes just to get a kiss and i'm happy.

9/10.

Would have been 10/10. but some of the episodes didn't keep the same class as the others.

With all the to-do about those envelopes I though it was dong a typically self-indulgent last-episode kind of thing, but it turned out to just be a normal story, at least until the self-reference avalanche in the last few minutes (which I though got a bit too self-indulgent). Well, whatever.

An oddly climatic detail for a secondary character, though; Sakura is engaged to Tsubame.

Generally quite a good series, although it went on too long.

A crazy ending for a crazy anime!

Well I started this anime as it is pretty much a well known classic, I expected a bit too much but soon realised this was nothing more than a gag anime with little to no story, which in the end turned out to be correct.

And while the general character development still was fun to see, the length and repetitivity of all the gags did get a bit boring after a while.

In general though it sure was a fun ride of this classic anime, and well the kiss as well to see all the characters and the original ending in the end sure was a nice finishing touch!

This last episode perfectly describes what the entire series was about: pure chaotic nonsense! Even though the show is more about comedy than romance, I did enjoy Ataru X Lum moments within the series, and it made me really happy to see these two kiss in the series finale. Overall, a great show to see when you want a good laugh :)

This ending was basically perfect with a cameo of I'm pretty sure every character that appeared throughout the series,Ataru and Lum's first kiss and the first ED playing in the background which was nostalgic.

This series had it's up and downs,it did get repetitive at times and while I can't say I enjoyed every episode overall it was a fun ride which I spend nearly a year watching that I don't regret it.

This finale was a bit underwhelming, I expected a little more.

However, I love all the characters flooding in at the end, including some I forgot. (I honestly forgot all about Kintaro.)

I also love the subtle nod to Maison Ikkoku at the end, which if I'm not mistaken, premiered a week after UY ended.

All in all, it was a fun experience. It wasn't mind-blowing, but I'm glad I saw this anime. A strong 7 to light 8 in all.

Festival of the Gods aka costume party was a bit anticlimatic and rushed. It should have been double episode or they shouldn't have bothered.

My overall impressions of the series are satisfactory. It was a fun ride albeit rather long one, longer than it should have been anyway. Some episodes were instant classic, some - rather underwhelming and repetitive, most were just above average. Not all characters were equally fun and imaginative. For example I rather disliked the whole Ryuunosuke against her father narrative as well as Asuka-chan and her incesty escapades - it was too nonsensical to work in an idea of a comedy when you repeat the same gag all over again with very little variations. Also the substance of those narratives was fanservicy at it's core, I'd even be bold enough to claim that UY began establishing tropes of the whole nerdy infantile subculture of otaku which is plaguing the medium nowadays. But putting that notions aside, a lot of other characters were nice, some even witty, and some - quite heartwarming. There even was some character development which is unusual for long running sitcom-like series. And a number of episodes went for sentimental or even sombre atmospheres, which was a good change of pace, given that most of them worked.

Overall, a strong 7/10 (which is a Good, btw). On to 4th to 6th movies and OVAs.

It's not a bad series and it has some very good episodes, but it overstayed its welcome hard to me, with 24-50 eps I would have have way more than enough.

5.5/10 score, at least I tackled another classic.

A great ending for Urusei Yatsura
Of course I have some films left and some OVAs, but that is the bulk of it!

I really enjoyed my time with this show!

I'm glad we got to see the little fox at the end heh
He ended up being one of my favorite characters

I'm also glad we got a proper kiss scene!

It's been a fun watch, I'm a little sad it's over.

Finally complete! I didn't think I'd get through this thing in a mere 10 months when I needed close to 7 years just for Ranma. From start to finish, this anime was pure bliss! It may have had its weak parts, but I doubt there are many long running shows that are as consistently good as Urusei Yatsura.
I have to admit though, the first 100 or so episodes that were done by Mamoru Oshii at Studio Pierrot were better than the second half. Had to ponder a bit if I should give this a 9 or 10, but due to the consistently good quality I will extend it a perfect 10.

I remember the previous valentine chocolate episode where they kissed, this is not their first kiss I'm sure, however this is the proper kiss with little hesitation and no denial from the protagonist, finally 195 episodes finished!

Finally here at the final episode, I wasn’t sure if this would feel truly final or be like any other episode, and I felt this was a mix of both, the story of the episode itself was a weird and silly one as usual but you also had a ton of the characters we’ve come to know up to this point showing up at the end as the original ED played after that amazing kiss Lum and Ataru shared, so that was definitely a big part of why this felt final. And what a kiss that was as well, it did seem kinda out of nowhere but I don’t mind it, I think we’ve only seen them kiss once or twice at most before this so ending on a great kiss was definitely satisfying imo. And lastly, making the final beautiful babe of the show be Amaterasu was also fitting lol, I only wish we could have saw more of her, but that’s also the case for a lot of the waifus of this show that only got one episode.

And wow man, it honestly doesn’t feel real that I’m here at the end of the main series, I know I still have two movies and OVAs to go but this marks the end of the original show that aired in the 80s, 195 full length episodes (plus that one special with the kunoichi girls), that’s a lot of time lol, and you also have the fact I started watching this in January of 2022, it only took me this long because I didn’t start watching at least 3 episodes a week until near the end of October 2022, so it’s nice to be here at the end in October of the next year lol, it’s been a journey and a half, and it’s gonna feel weird not having anymore to watch.

And what can I say about this show, it’s definitely hard to make a detailed review giving how many episodes there are and how long it took me to finish this, but I think I can sum it up nicely. I truly loved this show from beginning to end, there may have been an episode here and there that wasn’t the greatest but overall it was super fun, and still a hilarious show despite it being from the 80s, I feel bad for the folks I saw saying the comedy was dated because it absolutely wasn’t for me lol. And for being the show that most likely inspired one of my all time favorite anime, “To Love-Ru”, I can definitely say this is another one of my all time favorites now alongside it, Ataru may have not truly received a harem but there were so many waifus in this show, and most of them great as well, it’s as close to a harem as you can get without it actually being one lol. And lastly, in regards to the OPs, EDs and OST, so much great music there, all I will definitely be revisiting for years to come, and that’s definitely an OST I’ll never forget, so many amazing tracks in there that I’ll need to seek out very soon.

And now, I wait for the rest of the remake to come out which will surely be fun as well if it’s anything like the first season of it, and I’ll definitely be hitting what remains of this series, being the last movies and OVAs. And perhaps I should check out another old school anime soon, not sure which one yet but whichever one I end up going with I hope it doesn’t take me nearly 2 years to finish it lol.

Wow, I can't believe thats it's finally over. I've taken my time watching this series over the past few years and have really come to appreciate it and its impact on anime as a whole. The last episode could have been better but it was still a great watch. Seeing everyone together just acting crazy is what the show is all about in one sense. The other being the surrealism that can be seen in many episodes which can also be seen in the beginning of this one. So in one way the final episode displayed both of the core concepts that can be found throughout the show. The best part of the episode was to finally see Ataru and Lum have their big kiss. That was a long time coming and well worth the wait. Overall this was a great anime even though it dragged on at points or got repetitive. It must be remembered how influential this anime is and how much it did with how little came before it. And for that I give Urusei Yatsura an 8/10.
