I'm trying to be positive here but Kon Chiaki, Studio Deen and yaoi? This has fail written all over it...

I'll still try it but I'm not expecting to be impressed, at all.

Hey, it's better than UraBoku at least. If you people think that this is going to be shit, then you haven't seen even half of those horrible chin-monsters lurking out there. Gah, those chins. And the boys that look like little girls (and dress like one)."lol, this looks like het, but it really isn't." Or just angst on top of angst, and other FUN stuff.

Reading BL is no problem, but when it comes to anime, I can't stop thinking about the (straight)voice actors in studio acting out a sex scene while director tells them to "put more feeling into it". /shiver
Imagine that. It sounds so awkward. And embarassing. Easier to read, that way you won't have to hear anything. At all. Nevertheless, I will try to watch it because of the principle only. Even if the characters all look like they're twins with Junjou Romantica cast, but that's the problem with every damn shoujo. DEEN usually means instant fail, but whatever. I just want to see how the first couple ends up together. Don't really care for the other two.

Rant over, gonna go back to lurk now..
Let us meet again at the end of the world.

i would chalk the cold reception up to the simple fact that it's not sexually appealing to heterosexual males, but if that's the case, why isn't yuri met the same way by heterosexual females? i'd even go so far as to say that a majority of the yuri fanbase is female (straight or gay).
Yaoi fanbase population >> yuri fanbase population. I think yuri is simply ignored by women, just like yaoi & yuri are largely ignored by males. Not hated, just ignored.

I think there is nothing in yuri for most people, the few I've seen have been total and utter borefests so I don't really see how anybody would actively seek it out. On the other hand, I have no problems with yaoi, it's just that I've yet to see a good yaoi adaptation, coupled with the fact that I don't read it ^^

In conclusion: I'm guessing people complain about yaoi anime because they feel it's a waste of time and resources. So far, this is a pretty good assumption.

Also, if shin says this author is shit, I'm not even going to check it out :)

I'm so watching this. Yaoi haters, go away kthxbai. Nakmura is not a bad mangaka. There are better yaoi authors, but she is certainly not bad as far as a genre is concerned.

Lol we like it because two guys are better than 1
Sometimes it gives us ideas about how boys view the world from their point of perspective/ how do they think, and it's less scarier to watch a boyxboy relationship than a boyxgirl, and that's because yaoi is only in manga and it's like a fantasy genre.

To most of yaoi fans, that's the case and it doesn't necessarily mean that we watch it because we're gay/ weird ppl, but it's because we like the genre. I mean, we like stuff because we choose to, and if you don't like it, why do you even bother to comment??

This looks...kind of dumb.

I mean I can't really judge I suppose. During my early anime years, Gravitation was like OMGTEHBESTESTEVAH but then it was kind of like I'd seen it all. I never became a yaoi fan cause...I mean really now. It's all the same old shit. Heck, it's why I avoid most romances in general. I'm sure there are perfectly good yaoi series hidden...way...way deep down, but for the most part none of them look very appealing. I mean with this one I was turned off when they mentioned an 'accidental kiss'. Let me guess. They kiss, one acts all embarrassed and the other all smug. Then the less dominate one spontaneously grows breasts and starts acting like a violated little girl. From then on it becomes a sexy battle of, "I hate you...but I must take off your pants!"

I pick anime randomly, so there's always a chance I'll end up watching this. It's a very small chance though unless it turns out to be amazing.

Hear hear.

I've read a lot of yaoi manga (correction: MOST of the manga I read is yaoi), and frankly I don't understand what's with all the Nakamura Shungiku hate. Sure there are better authors, but he/she (cba to look up his/her gender) is not bad at all. Especially JR, presents a lot of its plot in a realistic manner. Sure there are a lot of jokes, but... um... they're just that: jokes.

Though, I don't agree with Muraki's harsh criticism. Don't just badmouth a series just because it has a certain genre and 454568764 people above you have disliked it. Watch it first, and then criticize.

I can't be bothered to go into what's so bad about Nakamura Shungiku (she's frankly not even worth that. And of course it's a woman, how else would we get these disturbing rape->love and power-plays coupled with crying, snot-faced confessions fantasies in JR?), but there's one thing that really bothers me. I've been reading her stuff for... how many years? Over 5 at least. And it's still the same bad characters, same bad, uninspired writing, and of course, the same ugly, terribly proportioned art. Improvement is minimal and it was starting from a low place. Yet people eat the shit up. And by getting an anime adaptation, this is presented as the "face of BL" for those not familiar with the genre. Shameful. I guess it accurately represents the low parts of the genre. I've read "a lot" of BL as well and if you think her works are a high point, I think you need to branch out and read more.

If reading any manga marked "yaoi" or "shounen-ai" means I still need to branch out more, I wonder what do people who only read 2-3 titles need to do?

I don't suppose you'd be one of those people who could ever, you know, " [i ]agree to disagree " right? It's not like people could have different tastes, for no reason at all.

OK, perhaps "a lot of its plot" was not the best manner to phrase this. There are aspects which I personally, found both important as far as the storyline goes and realistically presented. And by realistically, I of course mean considering the existing context.
For example: Misaki's struggles regarding his future career, or how Nowaki is always trying to "measure up" to Hiroki. etc etc.

Then again, I don't read/watch yaoi for the oh-so-amazing and deep plot line. So I suppose it depends on what exactly you expect from a yaoi anime/manga.

Oh boy. Because yaoi is srsbsns, right. You like what you like and people like Nakamura Shungiku.

There's nothing wrong with her art and her characters are likeable enough. No shit there isn't any DEEP emotions and definitely not plot. But this is yaoi we're talking about. The only reason I can see disliking her is because of the typical rape = love. But, having read a lot of BL, you have to agree that the rape = love in JR is not nearly as bad as it could be. Equally popular works such as Okane ga Nai, Gravitation, and Koisuru Boukun are far worse in that category. I'd rather have JR be the 'face of BL' over Gravitation.

I've read a decent amount of BL, not nearly as much as you have, but a pretty good amount, at least more than most people. And a lot of it is trash. I definitely don't think she is THE BEST EVAAARRR but there's something about her stories that I think is special.

But I might be too busy eating her shit up to take off my Nakamura Shungiku glasses.
