Again its really bad pacing of the matches, that as kill this anime, think was to soon to turn this into a anime, if they didn't have enough manga.

They do have enough material. The manga goes well beyond this match.

I really liked this episode, it had me very excited the entire time. I can't wait till the next episode!

Yepp, Gino's annoyed face (when not passing to Natsu) deserved to be on my desktop for a whole week:) I like him a lot - and the determination in Tsubaki's eyes as well.
I swear I'm not a real life soccer fan but I enjoy this anime so much! cant see how some of you are unsatisfied with it (I didnt read the manga though), during this last episode I was jumping from time to time out of surprise, excitement, tension etc.

I gotta admit the first half of the episode was completely weird and unsatisfaying, but dude, the second half was much much much better and made up for the lameness of the first half.... I even had the urge to skip the first two minutes until the match came into scene, but somehow I remembered that I was in a similar position as Natsuki and continued watching how it developed... The convo between Tatsumi and Natsuki was interesting... and again made me remember... is it my ball of the team's ball... I guess what Tatsumi said later is what's real for a forward, a forward who's egoistical... It's the team's but it's also mine! RAWWR XD

So then.... after Natsuki somehow solving his own personal mental issues, finally the team is waking up and finally countering Osaka's powerful offense... first of all not letting them enter so easily and then surprising them with the fast and powerful passes between ETU's offensive members... I hope that shot ends up as a goal... if not I'll be really pissed

Why they had to leave it in such a horrible cliffhanger!!!! Gah! I even kicked off my shoe far away and screamed a bit XD... Man Tsubaki really surprised me... just when I thought everything was lost, Tsubaki makes his surprise star appearance and kicks Kubota's ass! Dude... seriously I thought Kubota was going to score! Totally loved that steal... and much more that awesome area to area run! He has the legs XD

This is beyond pathetic how poorly paced these episodes are. I think only 5 minutes of actual game time happened in this episode.

This was one of the best episodes, especially because seeing Gino be Gino is always amazing <3 <3 Akasaki is also one of my favourites, and he has kind of been standing in the background a bit, but he's actually incredibly determined and I love his attitude. <3

Also, it felt nice to see Tsubaki take some strides forward again, I can tell he is really taking this game seriously and wants to defeat that little cunt and stop getting shitty ties.

I think Natsu made some progress as well.

Also, I like that Tatsumi actually admitted he may have misjudged Natsu a bit, and he really did take a gamble on trying to improve him in a significant way. I think if he had said nothing Natsu may have been a little better, but at the same time it would ruin him as a player (plus they need a bit of spark to win this Osaka game anyways). We'll see how it turns out in the end.

So the reason why Natsuki sucks is because Tatsumi screwed with his thoughts before the match. Yeah the first half sucked, and my computer is slow so i will ommit commenting on it. I will just say it was not fun watching it jerky like that.

How long is this match going to be? 3 more episodes left and we haven't even made it half way through the season I don't think.

I am waiting to see some subs come in. No way ETU is perfectly conditioned that the whole starting XI can withstand the attacks, then counter like so and do it for 90 mins. I mean lets be somewhat realistic here.

A solid episode but it was really funny in the end when Kubota and the other guy started falling down as if they were totally drained and as they watched Tsubaki run by them "like the wind" in ave, this may well be an seinen manga adaptation but that was very shounen-esque.

Other than that it was cool that they took into consideration the relationship between a playmaker and a striker, there was really some effort throughout the show to bring the viewers closer as much as possible to all the aspects of football (soccer).

You guys must not watch that many sports anime, cause only one person can see how horrid the pacing is. Or I have watched to many sports anime and can see how much better others do. I just don't understand how all of you guys can get so excited, it will be a miracle if Giant Killing gets a next season.

dammit! They ended on such an epic cliffhanger.... About damn time Tsubaki showed them his abilities. He literally left everyone eating his dust! Woulda been even more epic if he had cut inside and let fly to score. But scoring was never Tsubaki's forte so i guess him crossing kinda made more sense.

My patience with the pacing was greatly increased while I was watching the world cup. Live soccer has bizarro pacing too.
I had to remind myself of the pacing of the live games of all the sports I watch anime of.

A real pain to watch, unrealistic, extremely hard to follow because of the poor camera angles and lack of knowledge of the actual game by the animation studio (or is it the mangaka ?), no pace, no development apart from poor drama... Well, they should stick to the managing phases, it's what Giant Killing does best.

Tatsumi´s presentation of his point of view about the forward position was pretty cool. It was also interesting to see that even a clever guy like him can misunderstand people(seeing how he took a while to figure out the real reason behind Natsuki´s hesitation).

ETU´s counter was more intense in the manga, though.

Isn't that exactly what happened in the episode?

It´s a matter of impact and presentation.
Tsubaki´s steal seemed much more impressive in a 2 page spread, and the animation quality in the episode didn´t do it justice(in my opinion, of course). Same for Natsuki´s jump and Akasaki´s shoot. I know characters can´t stand still in an anime show(so it´s obvious some scenes will lose some of their impact), but that effect can be diminished by the quality of the animation or the fluidity of the characters movements. I don´t think that was the case here.

Heck, Akasaki´s shoot was on the screen for what, half a second? I bet some people didn´t even recognize him. ^^00 They could at least show his face in slow motion after the kick, or something like that.

Well, what they did was slow down. That's pretty much how the show works. The animation budget has never been great, so instead of relying on that to make an impact, they slow down the action, focusing on the shots that you showed from the manga. I think it was more intense in the manga because that's where you saw it first and the direction of the show is generally sloppy.

As far as not showing Akasaki, because the direction has been so forumlaic, I know that he will be show at the beginning of the episode after the credits roll.

Always a possibility, since people do tend to become pickier after they read the original work. I agree about the animation budget and the direction of the show - both are pretty average. It´s still hella fun, though, mainly because there´s no filler and the soundtrack is awesome.

Also, weak direction or not, it still has some of the intensity of the comic(some powerful scenes and speeches here and there), which helps a lot.

I also think that´s the case. It would be similar to what happened with Kubota´s goal in the manga. It happened at the end of a chapter, so it was shown again from an different angle when the other one began.

I enjoy the show for the most part, but I agree that the pacing is terrible. I also wish they would show more soccer/plays. The opening is really nicely animated; it'd be nice if the entirety of the series showed games like that.

Definitely going to keep up with the manga after the show's come to conclusion, I think I can enjoy it even though I really, really not a guy who likes reading manga.

the most epic episode so far for Tsubaki, he was like a super hero for ETU.

stealing the ball form Kubo just before he scores and rushing all the way to Osaka's goal area to cross what could be ETU's comeback goal.

even Maradona can't beat that.

My favorite line this episode was when Tatsumi was speaking to Natsu: "I always thought you were weird, but you really are creepy, Natsuki." I also like how he brought up the fact that the rest of the team puts in so much effort to get the ball to the forwards.

Right when I was wondering what the heck happened to Tsubaki, he showed up and wiped that grin of of Kubo's face. Now that the forwards seem to be more communicative and coordinated, hopefully they will get some goals.

This anime/match drags on because of all the unnecessary dialogue!

too much talking...losing interest.... Glad they finally (almost?) scored but shit, did you really have to stretch out this one game so many episodes? And it's still not even over yet! Well, guess it's a safe bet to assume the story is going to be left far unfinished. I marathoned through the first 14 episodes, but it's been over a week since I finished episode 14...hoping for a somewhat decent ending, feeling like im being robbed of what I thought was going to be among the most amazing shows ever :|
