Damn, Mona gets so much attention, even unwanted ones from arrogant guys. Medaka happened to help her at right place at the right time.

Ofc this episode didn't also pass on the chance to give them to be alone at the amusement park. The Ferris Wheel segment got adapted into this and I thought it was cute.

Mona and Kuroiwa having to be forced to kiss each other just to get discounts on food, and it's basically the worst-case scenario for both people, while Kuroiwa almost had his sanity being broken. Regardless, the flirting continues as Asahi contines to gain ground on him, and Mona...just being herself, disinterested in love, yet wanting the fame that comes her way. And that's exactly what Tomo sees in her: the persevere to even try and be thoughtful for herself.

But in the midst, Mona having almost all the bad luck running her way, from getting bumped by a crowd to break her smartphone, to the group desperately trying to locate her, Kuroiwa showed his sense of being a man just to save her out of guys trying to hit on her. But as luck would have it, Kuroiwa's phone also struck by the same karma, leaves the both of them on their alone time...and the monk-in-training desperately wanting to ride the Ferris wheel (which is his idea of fun) with Mona always having her game face on, only to drop her mask each and every time when she's with him, her feelings of love is starting to show, which Kuroiwa confirms with his suspicions, and also admits that he's charmed by her cutesy graces.

Yup, Mona's the literate definition of "he falls hard, but she falls even harder" for Kuroiwa.

Loved this episode. Mona has finally accepted that she's in fact, in love, after all of these episodes. Really glad Tomo has sped things up, cuz if she hadn't made Mona at least realize, Mona would've never realized it herself. Excited to know how this show would conclude in the upcoming finale.

I literally choked watching this episode!
I was felling happy, uncomfortable, dyspnea, diki doki, waku waku... every emotion you can thing of all at once!
This is why I love this show, it can make me feel emotions I rarely feel watching anime!
One of those feelings is sadness for there being only one episode left...
Excitement for next week is also included!

Talk about some progression!

I feel that it was lazy writing to have Asahi get the upperhand with such ease, they could of given her some decent development by simply showing some of the alone time she has with Medaka. She essentially takes a backseat the entire episode, and it felt odd to do.

On the other hand; Mona gets some massive development. She gets confronted by her best friend, Tomo, regarding her true self. Tomo tells Mona that she's happy that she found someone she can let her mask fall around. Mona doesn't want to see this which, due to her being paused in thought, gets cut off from the group. Mona realizes she isn't around her group anymore then, with the most corny thing they could of done; drops her phone, cracks the entire screen, then proceeds to have it bounce into the fountain. The most unfortunate thing you could of had happen, happened. Mona's stranded in a massive theme park, not knowing where she is, or where to go. Mona decides she'll wait for her friends to find her, in which leads to two random deuce bags attempting to force themselves onto poor Mona. Fortunately, her friends realize she was gone and had already started looking for her.. in which, of course, Medaka finds Mona and saves her from the random dudes. After all of that, Medaka shows he is not immune to the luck of misfortune, and has the exact same thing happen to his phone as Mona previously had.

This leads Mona and Medaka being stuck alone, which leads to both deciding to walk around and look at stuff whilst looking for their friends. Medaka, being everyones internal child, sees a ferris wheel. Well.. we all know where this heads. Mona and Medaka end up riding the ferris wheel; and whilst riding, can not comprehend why she is so flustered around Medaka. Medaka notices Mona being off and points it out to her, with the worst phrasing known to man. This confirms what she saw in the reflection of the glass, and what Tomo said, that she's letting her mask fall around Medaka. She's panicking, trying to figure out why she lets her mask down. She thinks that she's weird, partally due to how Medaka worded his notice to her. This is where Medaka notices she's panicking, and steps in to correct his words and gives a heartfelt compliment to Mona. Medaka goes back to look out the window to give Mona some time, and whilst Mona's trying to maintain her mask, denying her love, Medaka then says he found their friends. He then gives a genuine smile, without noticing, to Mona.

This fully breaks Monas protective mask; she sees his smile, and is instantly mesmerized by his smile.. something I can believe will be etched in her mind for the rest of her life, and for the first time in the entire show.. she admins that she is in love with Medaka.

Decent episode overall; and we got some deep plot progression for our main characters. I'll leave my post with a quote from KANLen09 that summarizes my thoughts entirely.

Yeaah, no.

*best Vorlon voice* "Who arrre you?"

When al else fails, Mona, how about recognizing the obvious? Yep, there you go.

Why didn’t Mona scream when those guys tried forcibly taking her? And why does lots of anime keep showing that guys in Japan think that practically trying to abduct women and force themselves on them is a smooth pickup? Is it common in Japan or something?

Well I'm glad that it did not take until the final episode for Mona to finally admit her feelings to herself about Medaka (2nd to last is a bit better lol). Now will she be able to become the aggressor and get the upper hand as Asahi is ahead? Also, beyond the 2 girls will Medaka even be able to date either of them considering his path to becoming a monk? I'm curious to see how this plays out.

That crowd did it totally on purpose: they came in aggressively just to break Mona and Medaka's phones.

Finally, Mona realized and admitted her feelings for Medaka. If he hadn't told her that she's cute when she shows different expressions, this would have dragged on forever.

Still, I'm still Team Asahi (0% chance, 100% faith). πŸ˜‚πŸ˜

This episode could easily have been the last episode for the season. Mona finally admitted she was in love with Medaka, and it feels like what they wanted to accomplish. If there is a next season, any rivalry can start anew there.

No kiss as expected, but the episode becomes very cute soon after and we get pretty much everything we could have hoped for and more: Medaka saves Mona, then they're having a little date because their phones are broken (wild crowds in that park haha), they get closer in the ferris wheel and finally, finally, Mona realizes her feelings for Medaka (I liked so much the way they made her understand it: simply looking at her reflection and seeing the face she makes when she's with him).

Basically, this episode was pure adorableness, easily my favorite so far.

Finally, she realized that she's fallen for Medaka, that she can drop the act around him, she can be her true self if she's with him.

"He has to fall for me." Mona, I hate to break it to you but he's been charmed since the start you've been successful this whole time!

I'm a total sucker for romcom so this is an awesome episode for me! 5!

@90293otaku well, he is not forced to getba monk. And is it like he is not allowed to have a girl, or he just didnt want to?

I also kinda feel its weird that we never saw him at a shrine xD

How I hate the aggressive stranger trope or whatever you want to call it, this shit is in too many anime. What's worse is that it's pretty much solely used to put the Male MC in a "find and rescue" situation, to look cool, etc, the trope seemingly never deviates from anime to anime. It's barely passable to me with some nuance, but this was forced to high heavens, second hand embarrassment watching that scene.

Mona finally noticed her feelings! Sad that it was only at the end, I mean, I don't think there's much that can be done with only one episode remaining, so I'll just hope for a second season to see more romantic development...

Well it was obvious there would be no kiss after last week’s cliffhanger, but I don’t even care about that because the Ferris Wheel bit was so good, Mona reacting to her own reflection and finally seeing that Tomo was right about her dropping her mask around Medaka, that was the bee’s knees man, I don’t think I’ve seen a moment in a romance show quite like that before. And even when she tried denying it, she dug the hole even deeper as she had another close encounter with Medaka, and in the end she realized she is in fact in love, kinda wild that it took 11 episodes for her to realize that, but hey I like a good slow burn, and the payoff was great imo.

Now the question is, what’s Mona gonna do with this information? Will she start treating Medaka differently or actually start pursuing him romantically instead of “charming” him? We only have one more episode unfortunately to witness it, but I’m looking forward to it anyway. Also lol at the two of them dropping their phones in the fountain in the exact same way, that’s some expensive damage but it was worth it for the Ferris Wheel scene.

JFC, I still can't get over how much of a narcissist this girl is. She can't be happy with anyone upstaging her or taking away someone she’s after, even if she has no feelings for that person. I love how forward Asahi is, bit I wish Kuroiwa wasn't such a stickler for his rules. How the fuck does he think he got to this world even with his dad being a monk. Does he think he was delivered by stork? Do Buddhist monks have no attachment rules or is he just making shit up as he goes? This anime just gets me so aggravated even though it has some really cute situations. I just wish Mona wasn't such a goddamn narcissist. It kills the whole thing, especially with her dogged attempts at trying to woo Kuroiwa. I wish she would chill with her overt attempts at trying to get him to fall for her when she has absolutely no desire to be with him. At least Asahi genuinely likes him and is trying to hook up with him. If she quit her narcissistic need to be the center of attention it would make this anime a hell of a lot more enjoyable and make her a much more likeable character.

I can get why this show isn't for everyone and their problems with Kawaii. And I do feel that this isn't going to be in my top of the year anime. But for what ever reason I found what I did read of the manga enjoyable because I how I read it as her being in the wrong and having a lesson to learn.

All that said....this was the only episode I rated a 5. Cause I really found the entire thing on the Ferris wheel really effective.

First shoe dropped, now for the second; Medaka has to tell Mona about his vow(why she hasn't found out is Anime Logic, I guess.), and I'm guessing somehow he misunderstood his duties, and that in fact they can date. First 5 of the season for me, too.

@ajw215799 I think it's more of a lazy writing shortcut used to create conflict, highlight MC's intervention, or emphasize the vulnerability of a female character.

At this point, it’s hard to tell why he keeps saying all this. If he actually means it he should stop using his friends as an excuse.
And if he’s just doing it because they told him to be nicer to Mona, there’s really no need to be all awkward about it. So cringe!

Finally Mona gave up and accepted her feelings, better late than never. It was really cute to see her realise that. She was cuter than ever being this embarrassed and got complimented from the one she wanted.
Even Medaka grown some balls today and actually did what was expected and not wimping. He is been really annoying but today I am impressed.

Nothing against Asahi she tries her best and master assiter Minami aswell but Mona is carrying this show since start, I can't go against her after now. Narcissist tsunderes for the win.
