Kyo’s a real one for everything he does for Taiki. The guy even knows how Taiki’s confused as fuck between Chinatsu and Hina, however much he denies it upfront. I mean see, at the end of the day he’s a school kid as well. It’s not possible he wouldn’t feel or start feeling anything for a girl who confessed to him, and is constantly trying to win his attention as well. Sure it’s good to see how he is aware he shouldn’t see any other girl when he’s fully committed to Chinatsu… at least inside his mind, but yeah, I just liked how he knows it’s about time he gives an answer to Hina.

That blonde guy pisses me off everytime btw, so the less he appears the better it is. Calm before the storm kind of episode though, and we know what that storm.. would be, I mean the feeling of what’s about to come is dreadfully obvious. Btw, didn’t realise we’re just two more episodes to go:(

Only two more episodes left.. no way Taiki can drag this out much longer. Someone’s gonna have to win and someone’s gonna have to lose, fuck probably our last week with both girls alive with a chance 😭 thought it might happen today after that cliffhanger during the card game, but Kyo once again the best wingman breaking things up and giving Taiki to sort his emotions out.

I don’t envy Taiki at all man. Like I been saying the last few weeks, he def likes both girls. Not saying he likes them equally, but he does see Hina as a girl. He’s not blind, she’s beautiful and has always supported him and he doesn’t wanna lose her. But at the same time he can’t continue to deny his feelings. Chinatsu is someone who gives him an ideal to strive towards and standing next to her would show how much he’s grown, whereas Hina is the comfy safe option. But he still doesn’t wanna lose her.. I get it man.

Chinatsu carrying that old lady to safety is the nail in the coffin for Hina tho lmao. Sadly she don’t have any feats to compete with that and that just made Taiki look up to her even more. Who would’ve thought a random old lady would be the second best wingman in the show and get these two even closer with the “is that your boyfriend” line lol.

Hina being afraid to ask out Taiki at the campfire because deep down she knows she lost already is breaking me, fuck 😭 great ep

Nothing really happened this episode. No new developments, no meaningful character interactions, not even any sport scenes. All we got was more of that "coffee with milk" metaphor that doesn't really mean much. Something could've come out from that game at the beginning, but nothing did.

It's ok to have an episode where not much happens every now and then, but it's starting to feel like most of the show has been like that. We're probably going to get some resolution to the triangle situation in the next episodes, but I doubt it'll lead to any actual change with the main girl. The sad part is that, knowing the manga has 180+ chapters out, even a probable season 2 might not lead to anything.

It's the usual problem with "romance + something else" anime/manga: romantic developments are constantly getting walled behind developments in the other parts of the show (winning tournments, for example), so the story just drags on and on. Read some reviews of the manga and it seems like that's the case.

I'm not sure how much longer I can endure this anime stringing me along. Don't get me wrong, I'm loving it, but the last episode's cliffhanger resolution was in poor taste, lol. This isn't the first time it's happened, and I just know the season finale will be infuriating.

On a different note, I want to learn more about Chinatsu beyond her cute portrayal. While her moments with Taiki are adorable, her depiction feels rather bland. Perhaps that's the point. Taiki and the viewer are still discovering who Chinatsu really is.
I'm unsure if I'm rooting for Hina by this point, but she adds the necessary drama to keep the story moving. She and Ayame, with their defined, spontaneous personalities, have added some spice.

I understand this is supposed to be a slow burn but I'm craving more!

Kyou is the friend we all wish we had. He doesn't need mental powers to know what's going on and what to do: he's the best support, the MVP, that's Kyou.

At first, Taiki seemed unsure about his feelings for Hina and Chinatsu, but now he is convinced. His admiration for Chinatsu has made him realize that he's in love with her. Poor Hina 😭-the scenes of her in Taiki's memories just make me think more of his inevitable heartbreak.

Chinatsu has been weird half of the episode. After meeting Taiki, she acted like her mind was somewhere else.Is there any chance for Taiki? One thing is for sure, in that bonfire, only one of them will be happy.

I may be reading too much into certain things (and this show is very often very subtle), but Chinatsu's not reacting to Taiki's overaection to the boyfriend thing could be a reaction in itself. As a Brazilian, in Portuguese we have this beautiful word, "bololô": It reffers to "a situation where a lot of people, things or emotions gets confusedly intertwined and nobody knows what nobody's thinking anymore". I think, my friends, that this bololô is getting weirder and Chinatsu is reading Taiki's reaction as him truly denying her. And I think Taiki's really putting an effort in trying to convince himself that he thinks of only Chinatsu.

It's always hard to make peace with a beloved anime coming to an end. Only two more Blue Box Thursdays for us, my friends. It's been a pleasure to analyze and witness (and participate in them sometimes too, fuck it) the waifu wars, bros.

Every time I watch this anime, each episode makes me think deeply. I’ve experienced a situation similar to Inomata’s—when two people liked me and I had to choose between them. It was incredibly painful, and although I made what I believed was a wrong choice, I’m not even sure if it truly was wrong. Human thoughts can be so complicated. Watching this anime constantly brings me back to that moment, as if in another universe where I made the right choice, even though I know that in both universes, those who weren’t chosen would still end up in tears. I just want to be happy in love. This anime is truly worth watching.

@VMPrecoma Fellow Brazilian here. Let's not pretend "bololô" is a beautiful word with some profound meaning. It's a slang and it just means "mess".

Also, I'm 100% sure you're reading too much into this. The FL is reacting the same way she always has: by not reacting at all.

Yeah I figured that card game confession wasn’t gonna happen, it just seemed too obvious, but cool of Kyou to save our boy there, now it’s time to commence the gay spin-off where Taiki abandons the girls for his true love Yusa lol.

Rest of the episode was on the slower side, it was mainly a lot of Taiki going back and forth on Chinatsu and Hina in his head, all the while Chinatsu is hanging out with a tall chad, I can see why Taiki would be troubled here lol. I really liked the scenes with the old couple at night, there were some really pretty shots of Chinatsu there, and it was also here where it appeared that Taiki may have made his final decision on who he loves most, I liked the way he used his favorite color and drink to allude to it, also based Taiki is a fellow cola enjoyer lol.

And we just have two episodes left, just like that two cours have just about passed us by, it’s crazy but I’m looking forward to seeing how they conclude this season, even if it may end in a heartbreak.

Nice save, Kyo. He saved Taiki how many times now? I don't remember. He's a good friend. And he seems wiser than most of the cast. He almost feels out of place in the series sometimes.

I liked the scene of Taiki and Chinatsu in the car. But nothing will beat the episode where the two stayed in the inn together. I really hope the two will get together soon.

Not much happened in this episode other than learning more about Taiki's feelings. The dude's genuinely getting more confused as Kyo implied. He could've avoided all this mess if he had just rejected Hina sooner. It's gonna take a lot more willpower to do now.

Only 2 episodes left. I really hope season 2 will be announced soon.

I was half-expecting Kyo himself to be "confessed" to in recognition of his S-tier wingmanship but dragging Yusa and Ayame into it was such an elegant assist.

It wouldn't have made any sense but when Taiki went "My favorite color is blue", I was ready for him to follow up with "...and my favorite shape are boxes" just for the titledrop.

Hina's strategy is really quite effective she's putting up a good fight, but still, Taiki loves Chinatsu. You can keep waiting but he might not ever love you the way he does with Chinatsu. We also got that basketball guy making Taiki jealous.

Overall ok episode. Also, Ayame really getting into the manager role. She's definitely going to steal some people's hearts lol but it seems everyone knows not to take her cheers too seriously.

Now I see why some who have read ahead might feel disappointed with later chapters.

It looked like something will happen but it's only a misdirection. Either Chinatsu knows by then that Taiki has feelings for her, or perhaps his feelings waver that he has to choose between the two, and I reckon he would be indecisive. Either way, they will probably tease a season 2, and the agony will be prolonged.

It's unbelievable, the slowest, most confused and least manly protagonist I've ever seen, you like her 23 chapters ago, if I put a picture of chapter 1 and this last one next to it, the relationship of the 2 is the same!, no wonder I can't say yes or no to hina... if you want either of them, try it, but don't stay doing nothing 23 chapters bro.

Taiki was in a tough spot in this episode, but the GOAT Kyou saved him, as expected. I'm still mad at this anime for not making Kyou a more relevant character to the story, because he's a really interesting character, but we barely know anything about him and what he thinks/feels. We don't even know if he's good at badmiton or not, which is really odd.

Anyways, this whole episode seemed to be the precursor to what's going to be, probably, the harshest part of the anime so far, and that is Hina's evident rejection. The anime has been hinting at that for a long time, and this episode seemed to be focused on exploring what Taiki really feels towards the 2. We can see that Taiki just felt that his worry with Chinatsu was not the same as what it is with Hina, especially when he was mad at himself for strongly denying to the old lady that he was Chinatsu's boyfriend. And after so much "milk and coffee" analogy, Taiki ends this episode by stating he likes coca-cola and blue, 2 things that are not mixtures, which might hint towards him having reached a conclusion. He also acted differently with Hina at the end of the episode, more like his usual self.

I wonder why Chinatsu turned away to watch Taiki, but then quickly returned to the dorm. Was she confused with Taiki's answers before to the old lady? She probably is confused if Taiki really went to look out for her, or if it was just a coincidence, so that's why she had that hesitation.

Finally, it's obvious Hina isn't forcing Taiki to reply to her confession, because she doesn't want to end with the hope that he will love her too. At least, for now, she can still look at him with hopes they will end up together. But the time will come.

I see many people criticizing Taiki, but I think that's unfair to him too. It's obvious Taiki isn't clear about which one is love: what he feels towards Chinatsu, or what he feels towards Hina. And making this decision, that will hurt either of the 2, is something really hard to make. He doesn't want to make the wrong choice.

Can't believe we only have 2 more episode of Blue Box! It's crazy to think this journey is coming to an end! I hope they announce the 2nd season when the 1st one ends!

@ninka22 Of course, she does. I truly disagree with her being toxic. Yeah, she’s selfish for asking Taiki to wait so she could try to make him fall for her, and ignorant for her not wanting to see the truth. But that doesn’t make her a toxic person, and I don’t wish anything bad on her - so, Hina deserves better.

Yeah, it was pretty clear that Taiki was not going to confess then and there but the way Yusa was brought up was pretty funny all things considered. Just imagine if after all of this he ended up being the endgame. Regardless, Taiki just keeps thinking about the way he sees the 2 of them and is probably willing to give Hina a chance. At least that's before he went running into the night to an old couple who thought he was Chii's boyfriend. Not much came out of it and the episode ended.

There're only 2 episodes left. Depending on how they handle them I might have to rate this lower.

Damn, Kyo really took one for Taiki, the bro energy here is just unparalleled while leaving him to think about the repercussions of choosing one over the other. The feeling of spinning, round and round, it's definitely making him feel nauseous.

The training camp resumes to normalcy, though it's been a while since Chinatsu cared for Taiki when he got injured during his practice, much to the dismay of the handsome Senpai Matsuoka being there as well, being potential boyfriend figure enough for him to get jealous about. Even at night, Chinatsu is still practicing, though Taiki begins to worry about her safety going late into the night, not as a means of stalking her. Even so, the thoughts that both Kyo and Ayame have been putting in him about love and romance, as much as Hina has already made her senses clear that she genuinely loves Taiki for real, plus his admiration for Chinatsu being a hard worker, it just makes him feel all the more uneasy.

To see Chinatsu helping an old woman though, that's not what Taiki expected to find her being all that caring. To carry her all the way to her home on her hurt ankle, the old lady sure knows what's up between the two, as much as Taiki tries to keep his feelings secret and focuses much on his practice. And as much as Hina is chided to have Taiki give his answer at the bonfire legend, that answer is not rushed, and that is probably for the best.

Feelings spin around the trio...
