Well duh it’s one of the most popular and well selling mangas in Japan along with Dandadan and the main selling point of the manga are the creative action sequences and choreography which sometimes feel comparable to One punch man’s action scenes so it’s definitely a huge feat for a manga to pull it off especially if you can compete with Murata’s Art atleast for me.

That's unfortunate, but it is what it is. I'll just accept it and be ready to watch the adaptation with an open mind. Who knows? There might be some aspects I can enjoy.

I watched Megalo box few days ago that has same studio ( TMS entertainment ) and it was amazing. the fight scenes and choreography was great. Animation was also smooth. I hope they do the same with Sakamoto days.

Cuz Yo Moriyama was the director and for Sakadays he’s only responsible for the character designs the anime definitely would have looked way better if he was in charge of the Direction instead of Watanabe who doesn’t have a background for working on action oriented series.

Not saying I agree with them but the anime so far does look worrying. I don’t want to be overly negative and hopefully it looks even better than the trailers but if that’s the best that they can show then I won’t be surprised due to the studio. I’ll probably keep my expectations low but I want to be wrong.

well in terms of visual quality TMS is undoubtedly a great studio like they made shows like Dr Stone and Fruits Basket and both have amazing visuals but for Sakamoto Days beautiful visuals isn't enough it needs dynamic camera angles and smooth animation but I'm still hopeful and if TMS pulled it off then it'll be a blast.

that's what happens when the manga with universally agreed peak fight choreography gets a trailer that looks like that, although the early parts of sakadays were mostly slower episodic stuff before the actual arcs began so hopefully they lock in (cope) from death row prisoners arc.

@bossunhimeswitch and Mappa was the same studio that made Hell's Paradise and Jujutsu kaisen!!
And it doesn't take much words to describe the difference in quality between those 2 animes

just going through the winter 2025 seasonal list now and recognized the name. Was not impressed at all with the trailer and was suprised it was right near the top.

guess this explains it.

There was this one scene in the trailer where they legit just coloured a manga page and had the characters float across the screen, I had to pause and do a backflip to regain my consciousness.

hmmm....the manga really is good and it does a great job with the action sequences. but unfortunately no one can control this.
most animators are exhausted and overworked and we all know the schedule they follow.
I'm just happy anime is still being made and the industry hasn't died down.

@bossunhimeswitch and maybe that's why you can't see the difference between megalo box and Sakadays cuz not only it's been produced by different staff but the quality is simply non-compatible

Well yeah, it seems to be getting one punch man S2 animation style. And it is great that they criticise it, so that it gets feedback. However it didn’t release yet and I do hope it looks better than the trailer because this anime should theoretically win anime of the season but if the animation sucks, it could kill it or delay it indefinitely.

Now why? This series heavily relies on the fight scenes to be great but if it sucks, then bye bye. Imagine if one punch man S3 gets the same kind of animation of S2, yeah bye bye. Same concept unfortunately

@Dumb The same studio that ruined Hell's paradise? There are better studios out there than Mappa, like Wit studio, Madhouse, Ufotable, Kyotoanimation, etc...

@Dumb MAPPA is impressive because they overwork the hell out of their employees, their animation is good, but they pick up too many projects knowing they will have very very tight deadlines and production issues

@Leon888 There is no world in which Hell's Paradise was RUINED. You can take issue with some of the art inconsistencies, but it was not ruined. What an incredibly dramatic reaction to the issues that it had.

@Dumb But if Attack on Titan Final Season was a disaster for the first part, with that abuse of CGI and the animations not up to par, many hated it and they are right since it is one of the most important anime of the century, also I want to remind you that there are not only CSM and JJK (their flagship anime) in their catalog, lol.

@Joche1 It depends on which anime you take, because for example Takt op destiny had a very poor animation in general, Hell's paradise is another example, while JJK and CSM have a good animation, for Mappa it's a coin toss, you don't know what will come out good and what will come out bad.

@SuzuXIII Well I've been talking about the show with my friends for weeks and most of the talk was about how bad the animation was, although for me the biggest flaw was the direction, i haven't seen an anime with such flat direction since one punch man season 2 which obviously ruins the experience and enjoyment of it and I'm a big fan of the manga, knowing that it gets this treatment is very sad, considering all the potential it had.

One of my hottest anime takes isthat animation is not that important if it can still deliver a good story. That was my take on date a live s3. I doubt the animation will even be that bad. That being said, many corporations and even content creators practice the trend of silencing criticism. That is not a good sign.

@rohan121 it depends on what kind of series is being adapted cuz if it's something like Orb, then animation doesn't matter as long as the Direction covers up for it but if it's something like Sakamoto Days then the animation along with great storyboards becomes priority cuz the series rely on heavy and creative af action

@Leon888 In a sence it does cuz no matter how trash the production and working conditions is the OPs and EDs are like one of main selling points of animes

And usually have better production than the actual shows

they were just the producers for it who invested their money in the uu anime

@M-T_S I Wish they did the same with Sakadays, but I will enjoy watching it regardless of the animation quality. I enjoyed Blue Lock S2, so I can enjoy this as well. Sakadays deserves better. I hope for the second part to be better since it is going to adapt to the better arc of the manga.

@AmirKazeXD I wouldn't say so, you can easily see how it is one of his weakest productions without counting that many aspects are inconsistent or insufficient such as animations, direction, soundtrack, censorship, etc... the best part of the show was the opening

@AmirKazeXD It always depends on the complaints, because just as there are people who complain about anything, I also have people who praise anything, which you see is very worrying when they then limit every argument only on the fact "I liked it" without giving a real solid construction of why they liked it.
