Finally, we're getting ot the more juicy part of this season focused on Shura and her pact. They weren't kidding about the snowy setting for this.

From Shura's point of view, it was an important and emotional episode for her. Truly though, Shura had a rough past but was able to recollect herself and become who she is today. She knew she didn't have too much time left to live.

Animation is very uneven, but the story continues to be fire.

I've never been more happy for poor animation as this episode because I have a phobia of snakes. Luckily, shittily drawn snakes do nothing to me, just like super fantastical ones. But the snakes from FF15 were too much for me. Snakes are also the reason I will never replay Bloodborne after I already beat it. It gave me daymares for weeks.

That blood demon pact would be hard to cancel. Hachiro will not give up too soon, but it seems that Shura is in big trouble now.

This episode ended in a big cliffhanger.

Our 2 exorcist brothers have now gone in search of the Sensei and, despite their carefree attitude, find themselves in the territory of the terrible Hashiro Tarô.

After reading this arc, I couldn't wait to meet this antagonist who, at the time, had made quite an impression on me. And I must admit I really enjoyed his 1st appearance in this 3rd episode. His voice and the tone of his voice fit this ruthless character perfectly. The light sprinkling of humor in this episode still has the same effect on me as it did a few years ago. This misunderstanding made the interactions between the characters even funnier.

I don't have much else to say, but I'd like to end this little commentary by saying that the end of the episode (thus encompassing the Kirigakure family's sad past and Shura's death wish) had too light a tone for my taste in the manga, which is deplorable. But here again, Sawano and KOHTA have done a monstrous job, bringing an altogether different gravitas, without distorting or parodying the original scene. I almost shed a tear at the whole staging, between the music and Rin's cries of anger and despair.

This arc is gradually coming to an end. So hang in there and admire Kato's talent in the arc that follows.

By the way, I admit that the promotional image of the arc made me believe there was a fight between these two, but it is still an arc that unites them more, or removes that distance between Yukio and Rin.

Eh, so Shura has to die at 30 years old because of her family's curse... no idea if MC and Yukio can defeat Hachiro yet, but we'll see, I just hope that she won't die so soon, especially that she needs to give birth to a girl because of the pact.

The snake guy forcing his demonic sword into Shura's ancester body is a symbolism for sex, couldn't be more obvious than this.

Talking about obvious, the onsen manager is shipping the most popular, yet also the most taboo couple of this anime, which is Rin/Yukio, or Yukio/Rin, whatever you prefer.

Damn Shura has only 3 more ahem I mean 12 more years to live. Yukio continues to be an asshole even though Rin's so worried about him. His kindness is completely wasted on him. Anyway Shura gotta live and end up with Rin. Save your girl boy. Hachiro kidnapped her and prolly gonna try to force him on her to bear his child but nope, not while Rin's here.
