I almost forgot about this guy but great to see Jushiro finally getting some relevance this arc. His friend and head commander Shunsui also took responsibility to make things right too.

Jushiro's past was definitely interesting to see from his time as a child to becoming a captain. Most importantly is the reason for his illness and connection to the Mimihagi. They way they animated THAT scene though...damn. I knew it was coming but still painful to see.

Always did find the whole thing with Ukitake and Mimihagi interesting, but when the most explanation we got out of it was just Ukitake briefly explaining how and why he got it, it seemed like nothing more than an asspull, but now with this backstory, it does fill in the missing pieces in the puzzle that we were missing all so long ago. And don't get it mistaken, this isn't just one piece getting filled in, it's like half the fucking puzzle because legit the ENTIRE first half was just Ukitake backstory lmao.

Got to learn how Ukitake and Shunsui met and such, legit if it wasn't for Shinsui eating those sweets in sparing class or whatever, I don't think they wouldn't have been this close lmao. But yeah, then we get to them when they're captains, and central 46 is just annoying the fuck out of him saying that he needs a lieutenant when they KNOW that his previous one died because of his illness... like hello??? Obviously, he did end up getting one, in the form of Rukia, but jeez.

Back to the present with Ichigo and the gang seeing Mimihagi do his thing and keep Reio alive, though only for a while before this dude Ukitake is gonna die. Shunsui already one step ahead of them and went to the GOAT himself, SOSUKE FUCKING AIZEN.

So many years later and dude still has so much aura, like the dude took off ALL his seals after Shinsui took only ONE OFF... LOL.

Could be my bad memory, but yeah, Ukitake’s voice felt a bit too deep to me, can’t be sure if that was always the case xD Though yeah, the stuff with him playing the soul king’s replacement by letting soul king’s right hand take over him is something that I’d deem deep as well, I mean this man was always just there fighting with his illness and being the most rational guy around but yeah, now see how the times have changed lol. Appreciate the backstory, I mean any or every stuff expanding upon things is welcomed with open arms.

By the way, I won’t lie, I was actually waiting for this particular bit from the time this sequel started… the return of Aizen. Sure we got a few glimpses of him here and there in the first two cours, but yeah, it'd be from here when this man would again start playing a prominent role in this series. Bleach can’t be Bleach without Aizen memes, so yeah, great to see GOAT back. That fucking bozo btw, he actually thought he could do something to Aizen lmaoooooo. Get my man out on the surface xD

I still can't get over all the extra scenes we're getting. I still love the manga, but the TYBW anime is just leagues above it at this point in the story. We're very lucky

Mimihagi. Mimihagi.
Rest in peace captain Ukitake. He was a real one and a great mentor for Rukia. He will be missed deeply.

Finally an episode mostly focused on backstory, I loved the scenes featuring young Ukitake and Shunsui, it’s known that they were the two captains closest to Yamamoto but we’ve never seen how they bonded with each other. Also, the fact that Unohana was their “senpai” hahah

And man, we don’t deserve Ukitake, he’s too precious and definitely the most gentle Shinigami/Soul Reaper, I remember when Rukia was sentenced to death during the Soul Society arc, he was the only captain against it. After old Yama died, the part when Shunsui said he needs to be alone, Ukitake and Unohana looked at each other so determined, they knew they both would have to die… it’s a bit sad if you think about it.

AND SOSUKE AIZEN IS NOW A FREE MAN!!!! OUR BOY IS FREE TO KICK SOME QUINCY ASS!!

Wow, this episode was packed full of information and lore. I hope Ukitake will survive this, we’ve already lost too many so far. The flashbacks between him and Shunsui were very cute, I love their friendship. I was also super hyped to see Ichigo, Orihime, Chad, and Yoruichi fighting together, truly a goated team but still not enough to defeat Yhwach. I wasn’t too surprised that Aizen is coming back, I feel like I may have seen it somewhere online or such. I have faith in him to be real, I think he could definitely use his powers for good and help them with their victory.

After the action-packed first 2 episodes, it's nice to slow things down a bit with some backstory for Ukitake. I'm glad the anime expanded on it, we're very fortunate that this adaptation is getting the love it deserves with all of this extra content.

Not much screen time for Ichigo and friends this week, but Ukitake's last stand is coming in clutch as he acts as the Soul King's replacement. How long that'll last though remains to be seen.

And of course, the moment we've all been waiting for, the GOAT IS BACK. MY BOY AIZEN. People love to throw around the word "aura" a lot these days, but that dude is practically the embodiment of the term. His swagger is crazy. RIP BOZO to the dude who thought he could rush Aizen to restrain him 😂 clearly you aren't familiar with his game.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

MAL is literally just anime Twitter as its own website lol.

@jas-samaaa In the manga it was just a brief explanation by Ukitake. Anime actually showed us his past.

Rest in peace Ukitake, one of my top 3. Loved this episode and finally seeing his backstory. Also kind of crazy to see Urahara having no clue what's happening for once. I wonder if Rukia will become captain of 13 afterwards, considering all the power she gained.

Kyoraku and Aizen seem like they'd either be best friends or mortal enemies (or both at the same time). Lol at that guy trying to get near him, it's like they don't know anything about him at all. I'm wondering if he's actually just straight up free (within that purple barrier type thing) or if it's some kind of illusion again considering what he did to Yhwach. Kind of funny that it only took literally one key to do it though. Sasuga Aizen-sama

I think Mimihagi just "helped" Ukitake because must have been a mistake and Ukitake didn't received a portion of healthiness that his parents have, when being born. Very healthy they are, from what looks like.

Unohana was truly an example of skincare.

Aizen just as powerful or even more, as the last time we seen him in action.

There are two kinds of battles:
a battle to protect life, or a battle to defend honor.

Ukitake's flashback scenes were incredible, I enjoyed seeing his friendship with Kyoraku. It was also nice to see Yamamoto, Unohana and Sasakibe for (probably) the last time.

Chad and Ganju actually doing something against Almighty Yhwach is pretty hilarious. It reminds me of Aizen chasing Ichigo's friends around Karakura Town.

Speaking of, seeing our favourite villain and his beloved Chair-sama is pure hype. That poor guard should've known better...

I can't wait for Aizen to join the scene again!
What bastardly things will he do this time?
I'm curious because I didn't read the manga. OwO
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

It's actually crazy how much they're fixing the mess that was TYBW in the manga. I have very high hopes for the final fights, but even what we already got is A LOT. So much added content, that brings clarity to the scenes and gives important characters chances to shine. More flashbacks, longer fights. Wow

Shunsui and Jushiro's backstory was really nice to see. Their friendship and how they came to be what they are today. Jushiro's sacrifice for the world was quite touching. Also, Shunsui is talking to Aizen about making some moves in this troubled situation they're currently in. Looks like he might help us after all. We'll have to see how that goes. Nice episode.

Ukitake making the ultimate sacrifice as is his duty for soul society. But I can't seem to shake off the feeling of how he lived his life. Like a cancer survivor never taking anything for granted, he seems to have been a man truly appreciating everything in live as he always knew he was on borrowed time.
