Rating system:
My ratings usually refer to the franchise as a whole rather than any single season (though I may include an individual season if it's much better or worse than the rest of the show). I briefly include my thoughts in the tags.
The meaning of the ratings are:
10 — Doesn't need to be perfect, but it goes above and beyond. Hard to describe, but there's a unique feeling of awe I get when I've finished these shows.
9 — One of my favorites
8 — Really enjoyed it.
7 — Liked it, though it does have some significant flaws.
6 — Decent, but didn't particularly like it.
5 — Mediocre, though some enjoyment can be salvaged.
4 — Mostly a waste of time, and actually painful to watch if it drags on.
3 — Frequently a pain to watch
2 — No value in this show
1 — Genuinely repulsive (e.g. the two episodes straight of torture scenes in Tokyo Ghoul).

Anyway, how have you been man? It's been a while, you good?
I mean, it's not like I dislike Season 1, but it didn't really get me nearly as much hooked compared to how Season 2 did right from the very beginning. Season 1 had a more episodic format with all those different stories....and episodic format isn't really my cup of tea TBH (though obviously there are some exceptions to this like Violet Evergarden which is one of my favourites despite being pretty episodic in nature). I tend to prefer shows that have a overarching & linear plot, where every event in the show is relevant and well-connected to each other. Aside from having a strong plot I really enjoy it more when the chaining of the various major events in the show is done well, where all the various plotlines and events happen in a way that they all feel like connected/relevant to each other. S2 basically fulfilled all this criteria, every event in the season right from the first episode was in a way connected to each other so that everything that happened (including the various plotlines) all felt well-knit together via a strong overarching plot, I mean there was no particular event in S2 that felt irrelevant to the plot, all of them came together to feel relevant and make sense in the end. While with S1 that wasn't really the case, there were many episodic stories in S1 that while intriguing in their own way, weren't really that much well-connected to each other so that each event felt relevant to each other like how it was in S2. Among the several episodic stories, I was strongly hooked by only one of those. S2 basically continues S1's last story but several things connected to the plot come to the fore there with some very intriguing reveals. It's like.....an inside greater plot starts gradually revealing itself there, very much like Attack on Titan where we continuously see a deeper plot gradually develop and reveal itself as the show progresses with intricate foreshadowing that leads us viewers getting more deeper into the show's overall premise as we gradually watch more & more of the show. I do really love this kind of writing where there is an apparent plot that establishes of the world of the story well and then gradually as it watch more of the deeper plot underneath starts revealing itself.
Basically there are the seasons why I enjoyed S2 of Link Click way more than S1. S1 was still decent but S2 just got me hooked right of the bat and maintained that intrigue throughout the whole season. S1 just got a 7/10 from me, whilst S2 came really close to getting a 10/10 from me, just marginally falling short of it in the end because now a days I'm a little more selective in giving 10/10 ratings. S2 of Link Click gets a 9.5/10 from me.
but what do you think of tales of graces f? personally my absolute favourite
i also really love the opening song – White Wishes - makes me nostalgic
but yeah those were the good days man
i plan to replay a lot of them sometime in the future
also do you like me pray for ufotable to remake sabers route?
or have you made peace
Also what do you think of kiritsugu? I know a lot of people dislike him but he's actually one of my favourite characters
what makes shirou a favourite character of yours?
Because Fate is a visual novel with three routes/timelines, I personally think knowing the back story of the 4th war doesn't hinder the enjoyment of the story. And actually helps, you know what you're getting into. Zero is a constant that always occurs while Night,UBW,HF can change (since they are routes). And then Hollow Ataraxia happens...
I'm assuming we both love the series and have seen Zero,UBW, and Heavens Feel. So it is okay to discuss spoilers here. What do you mean by the "ending". The city gets destroyed and Kiritsugu adopts Shirou. Isn't it beneficial to know that how/when entering UBW. Sure the "mystery" is ruined but Fate is an incredibly complex franchise I think it soothes new fans into it. At least thats how it's been in my personal experience irl.
I don't think tonal whiplash of UBW is that much of an issue since we are dealing with new characters and an incomplete war. They are teenagers who don't know as much as their parents. I do like that Kiritsugu is written similarly to F/SN's Archer. But the inverse could be said, knowing how Kiritsugu ends up makes the audience understand Archer better. The 2 wolves inside Shirou if you will. Again Gilgamesh appearing in UBW/HF makes more sense if you have seen Zero first. Because it isn't explained well why an extra servant is there.
At the end of the day it doesn't matter how you get into the franchise as long as you enjoy it. There is no definitive way. Just because Gen Urobuchi says it's the best way doesn't mean it's the optimal way. Do you genuinely believe what the author says or do you just agree with him because he is the creator of the work? Because it's the fans decision not the author.
Highly recommend Gigguk's timeline video if you get the chance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UzNSWmokCdU&t=837s&ab_channel=Gigguk
I also personally think the characters are better (even though I love Rin lol): Rider, Lancer, Berserker. It's just more hype on a broader spectrum. What reasons do you have against Zero being the best introduction?
can you give an example
Shounen horror:
- Corpse Party
- Dark Gathering
- Highschool Of The Dead
- Shiki
Back when I first got into VNS, I always immediately dismissed it, as it was one of the "seemingly overrated stories" but I also had that thinking with Muv Luv, and after reading Muv Luv about 2 years ago, it become my 4th favorite of all time. Tho it's funny because at the moment, I'm having the same conundrum as you, with that playing Umineko which is also very long, is something that isn't on my plan to do any time soon. At the moment I'm immersed in the Legend of Heroes/Trails JRPG Series and that itself is about of minimum 500 hours lol. So having another super long thing to play/read is extremely daunting haha
Honestly the only other long side thing I'd be willing to jump into at the moment is Tsukihime. I read the manga way way way back in like 2014, and it was a stellar story, so when I found out it was getting a remake/rehaul a while ago I was pumped AF. But there's no PC port......🙄🙄🙄
me personally like banki
Just remembered we still haven't found out what happened to Kaiki after he was hit on the head.
I assume you didn't watch the Hanamonogatari OVA? Because Kaiki is in it and the story is set after Araragis graduation
