honestly better than Horimiya....
no hate towards Horimiya but compared to TFFBWD, TFFBWD is better... it's gotta be man cuz The fragrant flower bloom with dignity is the "peak" of romance manga so Horimiya can be good in it's own terms but it's nowhere near as good as TFFBWD

honestly from my point of view ifyou like Horimiya then you gonna definitely gonna like it too... like on the on the surface level if anyone watch the trailer or something they gonna thnik that like it's typical romance and in whete MC or the Main Girl falls for the guy or girl then their would be another love interest like that show it's not it's really not it's really great all the characters have their on flaws and great things about themselves at the same time, all the characters have a great writing and the story progresses like no other story I ever read

Lol comparing Horimiya to one of the best coming of age romances that we’ve gotten in the last couple of years it’s hilarious although no hate towards horimiya but honestly for me it’s on the same tier as Bokuyaba even tho I found the character writing and the romantic progression of KaoruHana much better than the former so it’s all up to you on how to interpret the story.

This is more like a coming of age story with some good drama unlike Horimiya and Danger in my Heart which primaly focuses on romance and comidy.

I personally think the main leads between the two series are very different in terms of personality.
The tone is also very different because Horimiya is considered a "romcom", but this series barely has any comedy.
This series instead is focuses more on melodrama and the characters approach relationships in a more direct and mature way, so it can be boring for people that prefer to see the type of silly moments that are in most school romcoms.

If you are looking for another horimiya then this is not it. Not much comedy and too much drama and melancholy moments every minute.

Read the synopsis to see what is similar to Horimiya, and I'm drawing a blank beyond the surface level stuff that all high school romance series have in common: "boy with relatively no friends because ______ comes across a cute girl who falls in love with him". But the "______" for this and Horimiya aren't the same. This guy sounds like the MC from Toradora, except this girl is no Taiga. You might as well ask if this show is like Uzaki-chan.

I Love Horimiya
But when i saw and read the kaouru no hana
It's just something really different from new rom-com stories
Like a story you can predict but it's still exciting to see how the characters are going to be on that place ...
I haven't read more than 12 chapters
But now that it's coming I'm going to read this
Bye have a good day 💙

this is nothing like horimiya imo, in here you have a good cast of characters that show actual development, the relationship between the leads gets constructed slowly but not that slowly and not as fast as horimiya, it explores way better the coming of age themes than horimiya...

While I don't think the manga is better than horimiya(it's very close tho), the anime will most certainly be. And is it like horimiya? I mean, both of them have some of the best developed side cast in romance but from where I am in right now, the main relationship develop kinda at the same pace as horimiya's main relationship. Which can be really good for some and not so good for others.

But to answer your initial question, yes it does share some similarities with Horimiya. The main dynamic between the two protags however are incredibly different, Horimiya having the more realistic romantic relationship between the two stories.

yeah I would kind of agree with you on a some point as if the added the Horimiya pieces + Horimiya and made a single anime it would have been a great adaptation but still it is great adaptation....
at least they gave us Horimiya Pieces,...

Real. Man idk why Cloverworks had to do the pacing like that. Could have been a great adaptation and we only got a good one. The fact that s1 is still widely loved and enjoyed tho shows how good the source material was.

Just glad that we still at least got something. Horimiya pieces really helped fleshed out the characters more for anime onlys.

But after reading all the comments i think kaoru hana is more on romantic drama type rather than rom-com
And for me peak in rom-com is kaguya sama also i watched dangers in my heart but i found it good not great nor bad either

in terms of romance and story it's far ahead than kaguya sama love is war manga .... I guess you are as you are an anime fan you really loved the anime yeah it was really good and production did a good job, but that's not the end cuz there are still many chapters which didn't get adapted...
honestly I was really disappointed with kaguya sama's manga ending like the author spent a lot really a lot of time just to build the side charecters and their relationships but guess what at the end only the main 1 couple got together and others open ended literally wtf mannn l....
and in anyway kaguya sama's manga/anime feels really repetitive and the ending was 7.9/10 for me, I explained why before, but what disappointed me the most like at least they should have shown a conclusive ending to Iseyama and Miko's relationship... though it's obvious but I really wanted to see that 😔

@neel_senpai I have a question if you are a manga reader, the show contains the drama genre tag so are there any heartbreaking moments? or any love triangle like anything this type of shits?
Asking this coz many drama romance anime gave me past trauma and now I have PTSD from drama genre.
Just lemme know , then I will peacefully watch it, even read it.

I will give you a little hint like excluding all trashy thing that can happen with a romance Manga, for example - love triangle, melodrama, exaggerating scenes, slow paced story, uninteresting charecters, no charecter development, mc being trash and mc fawning over every other girl LoL😂... if you exclude all of them you get "The fragrant flower bloom with dignity"....
it just contains few things like - great story, nearly perfect charecters, one of the best charecter development in the romance manga history, crazy writting, well presented plot, some amazing plot twists and to sum up all masterpiece art style... you may think I am exaggerating things but when you read the Manga you will definitely know why I am saying great things about this manga, the most favourite part from this manga from my perspective is the characters are not fully dependable on the MC, yeah there are sometimes where all the characters are solely dependent on mc/main girl but that only happened once/twice there was no choice I would say... and most of all what intrigues me that the characters have their own life they have their own struggles, suffering own, they all feel like a real person not like some charecter who were drawn by someone...
I would definitely recommend you to read the Manga I mean yeah you can definitely wait for the Anime but I would recommend you to read the manga first.

@Antisocial-Weeb Realistic and grounded stories usal have some shots of drama in it. Drama in romance doesn't always mean it's gonna have love triangle, heart braking scene and NTR. Drama can also be implies on character growth, struggle in life and relationship and overcoming it. If you like the drama in "The Silent Voice" you will like this as well.

I find it better than Horimiya and Bokuyaba, but it's less dramatic than either, more fluffy and wholesome (and absolutely no ecchi scenes, fanservice, or sex jokes, which in my book is always a plus). The only negative you gotta deal with is that there's going to be a LOT of apologizing for every little thing, but the characters are all loveable and the friendships are top tier.

I hate to say it but as much as I love Horimiya, this is better. That being said for me at least it took a fair bit of time to get off the ground. And like some have said there is quite a bit of apologizing and again for me; moments/events that I think were kinda small were made out to be a big deal. If you are looking for the type of comedy Horimiya had this is not your show, don't get me wrong it has it's moment but its no Horimiya when it comes to comedy. The characters here also communicate better than in Horimiya, but I think the chemistry between all the characters are similar or even better than Horimiya!

This will be much better, definitely! I'm biased towards saying this is my favorite romance manga and maybe anime too, depending on the adaptation. There are so many cute and light moments. The potential of this is in the characters' dialogue, the way they act in each action is so beautiful and continuous, The characters are essentially easy to like, they can express themselves well and understand each other's side. If the animation of this anime is very good, maybe this anime will surpass all romance animes in ratings here at MAL, easily a 9 in the ratings, depending a little on the animation, and I say more, this can get a score close to sousou no frieren!

Some guy recommended me this upcoming anime since they claimed it’s similiar to Beastars - is it similiar at all, or even similiar to anyone other anime like Horyima or even (maybe) Chuunibyou/Toreador (peak only).

@SnowHamining I would say that's a weird comparison but now I remember how when I first read the manga the main character literally reminded me of a human version of Legoshi XD Other than that they're only similar in the 'forbidden love' aspects, and even that doesn't stay the focus of Kaoru Hana for that long.
