This is easily the most anticipated debut in a while:
Usazaki's artwork in act-age was great and it was a shame how she drifted around after its cancellation.
Meanwhile, Nishi's Iruma-kun is easily one of the best series Shounen Champion has published in years and basically what My Hero Academia should have been if it was written by a competent author.
Together they apparently form the first fully female artist/writer duo in WSJ history, so expectations are quite high.

And for now, this start is alright. I can see this premise of being a sole male witch (Or should we call Ichi a witcher?) develop in several, potentially interesting directions. Harem, classic fantasy adventure and so forth.

Looking forward to seeing more.

SHIRO USAZAKI IS FINALLY BACK IN JUMP AFTER 4 YEARS!! And she is back with Iruma-kun's creator Osamu Nishi. They are here with a magic adventure manga about witches where the men don't have magic. However Ichi obtains magic by the end of the chapter by overcoming a trial. Ichi seems to be a really good hunter. And in this world, magic seems to be a living thing? The world set-up is really intriguing.

And for the art, man I've missed Usazaki's art so much. The magazine cover and the lead color page are absolutely gorgeous. The character designs are great as you'd expect from her. I really love her panelings too.

Overall, this was an absolutely great start. Can't wait for more of Usazaki's greatness and can't wait for how the story unfolds. Really hope it becomes a success in Jump.

Seems like a fun start, hoping this series sticks around for a while 🤞 I haven't gotten around to reading Act-Age yet but it's a shame it ended prematurely because the writer was a creep, so I'm glad Usazaki is getting another shot.

Ngl, I definitely thought the MC was a girl from the promo images lol, so it should be interesting to see how the story develops with a sole male having an aptitude for magic under those extremely rare circumstances outlined at the end of the chapter.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

MAL is literally just anime Twitter as its own website lol.

I thought the MC was a girl at first looking at the promo images lol.

Interesting enough start though. It's the typical magic type series with witches mixed in. Would hope this goers on for longer than 30 chapters as well.

HAHAHHAAHAHA omg so it was undefeated for 1000 years or whatever because it was misogynistic? Sexism kept it going for 1000 years lol until a random hunter that's a man came up and stabbed it in its heart lol.

So it's going to be about this one hunter guy while every other witch is a girl? I can see the harem plot write itself already.

Honestly kinda an iffy start but still I hope it lasts a while at least. Maybe though since the authors are well known at least the Iruma's author is they'll let the series cook a bit longer.

Also though I haven't seen Act age glad to see the artist who wasn't involved in any of the writers crimes still doing stuff.

Also since the power of the Majik he defeated was misogyny is that his power now? Idk but Gege would be proud.

That was a decent first chapter. Concept is similar to OH!Great's new manga with the magic being materialised but otherwise pretty standard fantasy stuff with some overused tropes like mc alone being good/not good at something and such mixed in. Also has some similar vibes to Iruma kun with the fluff/slight comedic aspects. I was wondering how good Shiro Usazaki will fare drawing a fantasy manga and can safely say she did great. Though the character design/artstyle in general has changed from her previous works. Nishi Osamu might have supervised her in someway? Not sure and not that I mind. Hopefully will be a good run and will be of decent length. Wishing them the best of luck.

Last time a manga was hyped up this much before it started serialization was Kagurabachi.
And now we have Ichi the Witch.
First chapter was awesome. I like the protagonist, Ichi. He won't hesitate to kill a living thing if it wants to kill him.
Art is awesome, world building is decent, and I like the setting.
Welcome back, Usazaki-sensei!

I'm a bit iffy on the premise but I'm willing to trust it as it's being made by two women. But otherwise I really like what it has going, Ichi is really wonderfully unhinged. I started reading Iruma-kun because of the hype for this one and I love the energy both this and that series have, def hoping this takes off.

This was a fun chapter!

Very excited to learn more about the world. I’m guessing Ichi will now be joining the girls from the carriage to Majik school, or something.

I like how the premise has Ichi already content with life, but with this development he’ll be a reluctant main character.

I’m assuming we’ll learn more about why Majik is dominated by women later on. They quickly explain how rare it is for men to even have potential at it at the end of the chapter, but I feel like once we get to learn more about the world and magic there’ll be more revelations toward that.

The magic system thus far is interesting. Nothing too out there in the examples they’ve given, but the fact that magic needs to deem you worthy through action in order for you to learn it — there could be a lot of fun to play with that.

Although it seems each Majik can only choose one witch to win their trials and they assimilate within them? The water Majik and Uroro disappeared, and Uroro was reluctant, so I’d be curious if later down the line we find out it’s more like a symbiotic relationship.

Lastly, Uroro reminded me of playing cards. Which I guess would make Ichi the king of hearts now. And now my imagination is thinking of other suites and possible irregular Majiks that haunt the witches.

Am I overthinking this? Absolutely!

Anyway, great start.

definitely the most hyped new manga since kagurabachi. well it was an okay start and the art, paneling and character designs are decent but i guess being another series about witches, i can't help but subconsciously compare it to witch hat atelier. so nothing has hooked me just yet but it has a lot of chances so hopefully it does in the coming chapters since i'm hoping for wsj to get another banger. side note; i'll get to act-age very soon.

Been waiting for Usazaki Shiro to return, but never imagined it'd be with Nishi Osamu. Was a decent start, even if that ending to set up the premise felt maybe a bit too quick.

Looks like this manga's popularity is going to exploit authors' cult of personality.

I never read neither Iruma nor Actage, so I'll be 100% honest.
The story is generic and predictable, art is good, except for witches character design: witches look uninteresting, overcomplicated, repulsively pretentious (which heavily disfigures their faces), disproportional. Other people are OK.

It's just an okay start imo. Let's see if it goes as well as the big fantasy three. It doesn't interest me much, BUT things can be interesting and serious if the author has settled a good power system with that "majic" thing.

Also mostly I'll continue for Usazaki. Her art style is not like I remember, but I'll be waiting for her pen get heat. I think she has a suitable artstyle for a fantasy series. Also... a male witch among a lot of women, huh? I hope it's not a harem.

This has a lot of promise. Right of the bat we have a series with a fun MC, nice artwork, and a beautiful setting. I love the goofy feel to this too, it’s not taking itself seriously and it just sets out to be a fun read. I really hope Descarras is the FMC to accompany our main guy, because her design is really quite stunning and I love her bold personality already.

WSJ has a good one here. Definitely has potential to be a big hit!

I didn't get the chance to read Act-age yet, But seeing as the artist and author are highly regarded, I just had to read this. So far , a great premise and first chapter.
The art is very quirky and I like it.
Is this the next big thing in Shounen jump? Let's wait and see.

Nice plot, great design (thank god Shiro is back), and we have a super interesting duo in Iruma's author and Act-age's designer.
Off to a great start, personally.

Honestly, I only thought to start this cause I saw a few screenshots of Desscaras on twitter and thought she was absolutely gorgeous so I just had to see what she was from and I immediately got excited knowing this is a witch centered manga, I didn't even read the synopsis so I got left feeling quite shocked by the hunting parts lmao
I never watched Marimashita! Iruma-kun, mainly cause I didn't like how the anime art looked from what I had seen- but knowing this is the same author, if I end up loving this I might give the manga a go. So far I think the premise is really interesting and I love the art style and character design so so so much, Can't wait to see more
