Glad to see Emi showing up again. I was kinda worried when she was absent for first half of the episode but her friends greeted her warmly.

While this episode didn't have the usual tense gameplays, it united the case to celebrate their moments together. The night scenes were especially noticable and I think they made some important memories this episode.

The big question is will we ever see Haneru playing at the Mahjong table because so far i have not seen her playing Mahjong at that table yet.
Still Nashiko got herself into trouble again.
Tho the managed to make the event.

Nice episode, but a bit disappointed because I wanted to see develop more the friendship between Nadeshiko and Emi, they had the perfect situation for this.

Those lanterns were very beautiful, especially when they were illuminated at the night time.

The Onomichi Akari Matsuri was held on 7 October last year.

Not really any actual mahjong in this one but as always it’s fun just watching these girls have fun, although this time it wasn’t really fun they were having with all the lantern making but the goofs and gaffes were still plentiful. I especially liked the short bit where it’s revealed that Nashiko isn’t good at singing her favorite rock songs, I’m probably the same but it’s still fun to sing lol, also based that she likes rock, I need to sit down with Nashiko and discuss music sometime lol.

And Haneru ended up spending the night with Nashiko due to the distance for her to go back and forth, Riche sure was jealous of this lol, but we unfortunately didn’t really get to see Haneru and Nashiko hanging together without the other girls around, I think that would have been nice to see but now I can only imagine what it was like lol. And despite the tediousness of making all those lanterns, the result was quite beautiful, loved all those shots of the lanterns at each temple. And Nashiko at the end saying next is Christmas, I think she’s forgetting the best holiday of the year, being Halloween, that is unless this is after Halloween in the show but all the green trees tell me otherwise lol.

And as a final note for this post, I wanted to mention I’m starting to get mahjong even more as I play, I am having trouble knowing how to make winning hands tho lol.

EP 8

The funny thing is i think they're literally not allowed to go toilet in the middle of tournaments. well i mean for most sports thats also true, but mahjong can drag on for quite awhile
That being said even in casual mahjong it would be kinda hard to go toilet since you would be making 3 other people wait for you
It just occured to me that if you played online with your phone it would be an option. maybe. but if you play online once your timer runs out they'll auto discard anyway
I wonder, did they use the same sequence for the dream each time

Anyway so yeah that was the whole ep.
Not much to say really. bit of a strange ep.
Still 4 more eps to go, though its been a strange journey to this point

Looks like something silly will be happening next time as well

Its funny how there's been less and less mahjong.

At this point its basically "what silly shenanigans will our girls get into next time"

Seeing Rishe being jealous of Haneru staying over at Nashiko house was cute.

All the girls work together to make lanterns, basically it's a really relaxing episode.

There is no Mahjong game in this episode, making it feel different from the previous one, but I think this is better.

Back at the mahjong parlor, there's the lantern festival coming up in the weekend, and Nashiko has to basically help out without her mother's input, her handling alone for 3000 of them in 4 days. Pai and Izumi helping Nashiko out by drawing mahjong tiles, at least there's some personality to it, plus Chombo's help. And aside from some jabs to Nashiko, Riche sure came running to aid them.

Riche aids in materials, while Haneru comes over packing 2 days in a row. As the days count down, the girls get to work completing the different lanterns for the various shrines, though Riche is rather sad about not having a sleepover at Nashiko's place. All that's left is to place the various lanterns at their designated positions (even getting the zawa zawa thingie) and light them up for a good night festival.

Once again, a relaxing episode.

@TheColonel76 depending on the rule version you play, winning hands may be easy or difficult to come by.

lol that's a lot of work (lol mom took the work and gave it to her before leaving), but thankfully, between the 5 of them, they managed to finish in time
it sure was fun to see all the lanterns laying there, i'm sure they felt proud of their achievement

@KANLen09 The one I’m playing is “Riichi Mahjong” on Clubhouse 51, thankfully is recommends you winning hands based on what you have but I’m still not good at getting them lol.

That were so many lanterns they had to make for the festival but they still did it, nice. Also Haneru sleeping at Nashiko's place was unexpected

The anime author clearly doesn't know how long manual labour takes.
3,000 torches. A full working week is 40 hours (8 hours x 5 days), that's 40 x 60 = 2,400 minutes.
That's less than a minute for one person. Most of the work was done by three people. That's not more than 3 minutes per torch.
Also, the diameter of a torch is about 7-8 cm, like a Euro Mug. Let's say 7 cm.
3,000 torches in a row would make a line 210 metres long.
The poor girl and her friends have been working hard all week. And that's exactly what they did. Mum gave her such a hard time. Not only did they have to colour them, they also had to put them together and arrange them. It's a lot of work.
