Look at Earth fighting bears and monsters with a bow and arrow. Not only that but he's making use of all his tools. Hell, he even forges them using blacksmith skills and using potions.

Earth is the epitome of RPG protagonist this season. We got a tournament type battle this episode too. Awkward pacing imo.

Something interesting happened, finally.

Past episodes was pretty aimless and loose, a story might make the series not as boring, at the very least.

This reminds me that some games already use ChatGPT or similar AI for their NPC's speech.

Earth is really mastering that bow, adding yet another weapon to his arsenal.

His hand-to-hand combat is impressive, especially those powerful kicks. Now he's also equipped with a whip and bombs. Well done, Fairy Playah. Quite the skill set, I must say.

This Fairy tournament proved to be quite intriguing. Glad needed a proper challenge, but I didn't anticipate it coming from a fairy. That particular fairy definitely doesn't seem like your typical NPC. I'm curious about her backstory.

I'm eager to see how Earth handles facing her.

Were they really peaceful though? They could have been like Earth, who wanted to fight but the fairies refused. Which makes it odd to reward it.

And the way they described the winners absorbing power from the losers, doesn't that mean all the tournament participants either lost their fairies or had them reset to level 1? So you get the most rewards for not participating at all, and the most punishment for getting the top ranks? What kind of messed up game system is that?

Pretty obvious that due to Protagonist Reasons he's going to somehow end up with the queen as his fairy though. For no readily apparent reason.

The fight between Glad and the Fairy Queen was spectacular.
The way she initiated the fight with a quick (no pre-chant) wide area Earthquake spell to apply a movement debuff to the opponent was smart, giving her enough time to show off her fast multi-casted elemental "bolt" spells, again with no pre-chant for extra casting speed.

Glad dodged the barrage of bolts in time with his quick reactions and a fast fly support spell.
Using the air momentum he went for a swift downward slash from above, but the Fairy Queen dodged effortlessly.
I would say almost too effortlessly, as I think it would have been cool to see her use the same fly spell to move and float in the air the way she did, rather than having such powerful movement by base. I suppose since she evolved from a Shadow Fox line it makes sense for her to have good movement and a high speed stat.
A fast touch-range shock spell to paralyze Glad gives her enough time to follow up for a big chanted cast, a 3 word chanted High Explosion spell!

This moment was really hype to me. The way the music synchronized to the explosion cast made it really epic. The flaming pillar after-effect from the High Explosion spell surrounding Glad sets up the perfect finisher, a 2 word chanted Lightning spell Striking Glad down onto his knees. She deals the finishing blow with parallel-casted fast quadruple elemental "bolt" spells, leaving glad with just 1 hp remaining, making the Fairy Queen the victor.

Overall a great and interesting fight, that which within its allocated animation budget, managed to use the music and special effects in a smart way to show off a cool fight with masterful spellcasting.

I'm now greatly looking forward to seeing the fight between the MC and the Fairy Queen in the next episode!

I know, it was basically a contraction of the whole event, to get stronger with your pet and go to a tournament, I imagine since the Queen is so unique a life like maybe she hacked the event or something, considering the rules of the show and the game in the show it is better not to think too hard about anything in it.

glad was schooled in the most epic of ways - and in front of every player present too! his pride took a nasty hit and hopefully he learns his lesson, if not...well, he probably won't live down the humiliation of having his behind whooped by a fairy no less! lol

Felt kinda bad for that Glad guy, he won the fairy tournament only for his fairy to fuck off and beat his ass lol, I know he was offered compensation but another fairy isn’t the same as his fairy imo, and at the same time it didn’t seem like he abused his fairy either, just used it as a tool which there isn’t really a rule against I think lol. I guess you could say he isn’t so glad anymore.

And as a result we got the cute Fairy Queen that’s about to whoop Earth’s ass, my guess is he finesses her and makes her his fairy, but we shall see. Also as of episode 4, that ED is actually one of my favorites this season because it’s such a cute and fun song, almost reminds me of Kirby which is a favorite series of mine.

The fairy reality thing was meh, maybe its just me but I would have preferred the black knight guy to win with the queen. If it would be a game I would be playing it would be annoying to level up your "pet" to get ditched or something like that, if its a game it should stay a game.

♫ Meh meh meh ♫

Yeah, I don't get why they try so hard to be this serious ... it's Isekai without being Isekai but insisting it's Isekai because ... videogame played by an Osan is the way to behave in real life and videogame ?!?

I mean ... WTF ?!? I'm probably as lost as the writer behind this. :p

Fly? more like a wind-boosted jump/leap to me. lmao
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

Gotta be honest here and say Bofuri ruined this subgenre for me. This one is still enjoyable of course but I can't keep myself from getting reminded of that Bofuri have already done this and better.

But that fairy hints at another twist to make this original. I'm actually feeling excitement for the next episode. :)

I can already tell Earth will defeat the fairy queen. Which will be weird to see when Glad, a top player lost so easily.

It was pleasant to see that they actually had other 'fairy whisperers' like Earth, but I was very quickly disappointed about it. It turned out that the other two simply refused to fight. If you remember with Earth, he WANTED to fight, but other fairies refused to fight him. He was softlocked out of the event. Apparently, he was the only one as well. This is some of the worst game design in MMO possible. What if he left the game right then and there? Would he be forced to fight the fairy queen the next time he entered the game? It's like he's being forced to be special.

I honestly felt bad for Glad. The fairy queen punished him for playing the game, as marketed. The plot made it seem like he was a villain, when he was justified playing it as it was designed.

The best part about this show is Earth experimenting with new skills and crafting equipment. It's simple, but seeing him find ways to circumvent weaknesses and discover new playstyles feels a lot more like 'A playthrough' as the show's name suggests. I wish it leaned more on that, along with clearing dungeons and creating a guild or something. Then again, that would just be Bofuri. Oh well...

I've too been thinking that the game/GM's seems to target our MC every time he just wants to do his thing. A normal gamer would start thinking about cutting their time loss and quit at this point. Guess we're to believe the MC likes the game overall to not do that.

It's annoying but also hints about there being a deeper story so my curiosity beats my annoyance here. :)

Earth is increasingly broken than the rest would like, I wouldn't be surprised if, if he continues to improve the magic of the bow, in the future he gets an aimbot for his arrows and that they always hit the enemy. On the other hand, with that ending I still have hope that something similar to what I said in the previous chapter will come true and that he will be able to have the fairy queen as his companion if she manages to beat him in a duel. See you next week.

The first half of the episode was kind of slow/boring inventory management stuff with crafting new arrows etc 😬 but guess more interesting with the Fairy Queen.

These shows always take me out a bit when everyone treats a videogame like it's real life or that serious really (whereas can believe it more if it's a full isekai). All cool though, and hopefully not too much slow new item stats reading in next episode.

This game events so poorly designed it painful to watch. Imagine that after years of beta testing WoW Classic NPC-vendors would run out of food at the first day of release. And once in a lifetime gacha event that supposed to give you a BATTLE companion would give you nothing without proper explanation.

Bofuri at least was cute silly comedy.

The fairy playah Earth is of significance to this Glad who's once a party member of this old man Silver in armour, and his participation may be dangerous, so Earth has to be mindful. Hunting wild monsters and harvesting ores from a cave, Earth has been careful about the things he does, making new things out from the normal and the abnormal with the explosive ore, experimenting with his newfound powers and making the most out of it.

That said, the special Fairy PvP tournament has everyone in anticipation, though it's Silver and Glad who faces each other, and the former member trounces over Silver, though his fairy soon intervenes into a Fairy Queen who refuses his demands, and is open to challenge Glad, which her powers alone in an obscenely fast casting way. The fairy-playahs get their rewards each...and Earth, fighting the Fairy Queen?

An oddity man...

Good episode, that fight scene was animated way better than expected, it honestly kinda blew me away. Wasn't expecting anything nearly as good from this sort of show. I just hope that they didn't blow their entire animation budget on this one episode.

Explosive ore is definitely an interesting concept, and using it to create a throwable potion that explodes on impact, well that's just genius. Seems Earth is bringing more change to how people do things in this game again.

That reward for Earth is interesting, getting to fight the queen of the fairies. Guess we'll have to see where that goes. Oh and the fairy talking more like a human, could it be a developer perhaps, or maybe some advanced form of AI like we have in real life now?
