And thus our tale comes to an end: Falin is revived, everybody (except Laios) is stuffed and happy and they all live happily ever after in a glorious kingdom. That curse though, some real suffering for our monarch.

What a great ending for a fantastic manga, truly a modern fantasy classic. I am looking forward to the supplementary material in the future and will preorder the final volumes as soon as they are available.

The journey is finally over, can't believe this is the end. Great to have Falin back, everyone sure is happy to have her back. The journey that started with the goal of saving her, in the end they achieved it. I'm so happy for them. Laios' curse though lolz, poor guy. If there were ship confirmations, it'd have been great but oh well I can still live with this ending.

Such a wonderful story from the begining till the end. Really good fantasy manga, enjoyed it a lot and looking forward to the anime next year.

what amazing series from start to end. very pleasing fantasy with expansive world building that more in line with classic western fantasy. characters are extremely nuanced, colorful, and all likeable. the plot that started simple slowly become bigger as the story goes really engaging. the comedy is top notch, the gourmet aspect is unique and not repetitive. it also has one of best art i see in fantasy, the bible spin-off is must read too to get more spotlight in this aspect. 10/10, fucking masterpiece.

side note. that laious curse at the end tho, lmao. perfection.

Wonderful ride, marvelous ending. Kui Ryoko-sensei, bless your heart for this beautiful story. We got a happy ending. I have high expectations for the anime adaptation and I'm waiting for the last volumes to be published.

I just wish the supplemental books get published too or we get to see as extras for the anime BD release. I'll be forever obsessed with monster food in my DnD campaings now.
Gotta update this soon™

What a wonderful 4 years of reading this has been. Glad Falin is back although I can't help but wanting ships to be confirmed. Laios face when he realizes the curse was hilarious. Crazy the journey has ended but glad I decided to pick this up those years ago!

Wonderful ending. I really enjoyed reading this. The characters, the art, the story, the whole adventure... everything was great and I loved it.
I hope they license this in my country someday because I'll gladly buy it. And let's hope that the anime will be just as great.

Genuinely surprised that Falin came back, I was definitely expecting the resurrection to fail as part of the acceptance of death theme. Still, I'm happy she got a happy ending. I would have really liked to see more of an epilogue for Chilchuck and Senshi; I especially want to see Chilchuck introduce his family to the group and open his little shop. Hoping we might get a few more insights in the supplemental materials.

It's sad to see this finally come to an end, but it was fantastic every step of the way. One of my all time favourite manga.

Really looking forward to the anime and whatever Kui Ryoko does next. The way she crafted everything is nothing short of masterful.

Been following this manga for like 7 years after falling in love with Ryoko Kui's short-stories, so seeing the story finally reaching its conclusion is a bit bittersweet.
Still it's good to see that Kui knew when to end the manga instead of needlessy stretching the story to its detriment, like so many other manga do.
This was a fenomenal manga. A very unique take on the cooking-genre with a lovable cast of very excentric characters, all amplified with Kui's beautiful and whimsical art-style.
As the OP said, this is a modern classic, and I really hope that the anime will do justice to the source material.

Masterpiece. Impeccable ending, except... I was expecting Laios x Marcille to be a real thing tho x'D
Maybe there'll be something in the extra material?
Also, as said by someone above me, it'd be cool to see Chilchuck introducing his family and more about the characters during Laios reign.

Words express pretty poorly how good this manga makes me feel, thanks Kui Ryoko for sharing your creativity and love with us <3

well that was way more interesting than i expected. can't say it very appetising, for a gourmet manga though lol. guess you just have to be laois. wish more happened with him and marcille. falin is back though and its a good ending, solid 7/10. usually not a fan of fantasies but this is one of better ones for sure and i hope the anime adaptation goes well too.

A bit disappointed considering how highly praised this was overall.

The first ~30 chapters showed an interesting premise and the concept was somewhat fresh. After that however it went into mediocrity with a lot of repetitive chapters.
Might have been better if one was to follow this at slower pace of release rather than reading it all in 2 days, eh.

The entire food part of the story was rather dull even compared to Golden Kamui where it was more of a side entertainment.

I guess the ending was somewhat satisfying if we ignore all the absurdity leading up to it.

Hardly have I ever come across a story that draws me in so much that I ended up reading it till 5am in the morning without sleep. Finished in one go without even remember to update my reading status on MAL. Not that necessary anyway, I finished it so fast that there wasn't any need to keep track on the chapter numbers.

In a nutshell, Dungeon Meshi is a perfect combination of comedy, fantasy and drama. I absolutely love how Kui-sensei was able to create hilarious situations even during depressing moments (yes, I'm talking about Marcille's necromancy dance-). I literally laughed until my throat became hoarse, and not only one time.

All adventures will have to come to an end. This is also the end for Laios and company's epic adventure, but it will also mark the beginning of another one!

And Falin is so cute with those beast traits left on her.

@Tsu_san A great story is a great story, no matter how the ways we read it differ! I would compare this to how a masterpiece song can touch the heart of everyone regardless of each individual's preference. Personally, I love songs with a gentle melody, but sometimes I'd come across pieces that are far from my preference, and yet still made me love them.

When Laios convinced Marcille to stop being the lord of the dungeon, I remember him saying that no menu can satisfy every person there is. He's right, but I'd like to think that Dungeon Meshi is a great menu that can satisfy the appetite of even people who aren't much interested in its genres. Of course there are still people who don't find it delicious (like Kabru and monster meat?), but it's enough for the series to be considered a successful menu!

falin is back the resurrection is a success

laios is now the king and is called the devourer of all things horrible (but i like demon eater more though like who needs demon slayers?) plus the curse of the demon lion was all monsters are afraid of him lol now his wish to coexist with monsters are gone

to live is to eat

I just love fantasy worlds like the one Dungeon Meshi has. If a story has elves, dwarfs, orcs... It's just my thing. So what if the story is good, has a good ending and characters and worldbuilding is interesting, all added to the prior mix... Love, pure love.

The fake is of far greater value. In its deliberate attempt to be real, it's more real than the real thing.

Now we can guess what Winged Lion meant when he cursed Laios of his inability to fulfil his greatest desire.. to the greatest extent. He'll never be full xD

Now what started as an adventure to find, and if in luck, resurrect Falin, eventually ending up in the discovery of a long-lost continent itself with Laios leading its proceedings, and of course, with the resurrection of Falin... that was some grand scale of world building we've had. Though I'd say the resurrection part taking a sudden backseat for the entire "defeat demon" purpose didn't really add much relevance to Falin's resurrection itself in the end, as eventually they had to cook and eat all that stuff lol, except of course, the huge numbers to eat that stuff had to be because of them defeating winged lion.

Though really, one of a kind series in the end. If only we'd have gotten Chilchuck meeting his wife and daughters too xD

After watching the anime I had to know the rest of story. So, throughout this fantastic piece of literature I litterally laughed, cried, bit my nails and spent a whole lot of money on all the volumes. This is a story where you're eyes can't keep up with the anticipation of what's going to happen on the next page. Happy end for our characters, happy end for me - 10/10 period. Can't wait for what Ryoko sensei might be cooking for us in the future.

Absolutely loved it.
Adorable characters, fun light-hearted mood, a story that is easy to follow and feels totally fresh. The worldbuilding the author created and how we smoothly dive into the main story. Oh dear, it was an amazing journey. I had so many moments when I literally laughed out loud.
I hope to read something like Dungeon Meshi again.

P.S. Too bad we didn't meet Chilchuk's family :D
