Ha, this show has some of the most unorthodox personalities...

Anarchy, Pink, and Blue each feel uniquely different as main characters. Even otaku hero has a lot of charisma although I hope he takes more leadership roles. This episode was kinda all over the place but still quite amusing imo. Hope they can build a solid story out of this.

And I think the story will be simple but it won't have much, it will be an anime where the story is simple that almost doesn't have a story that is taken seriously, but this serious thing doesn't matter much and it's a parody where the ending it will be something to try to be glorious and it will have a ridiculous idea like FLCL and Panty And Stocking that were like this

Kanda "Blueberry" Ai is saved, though her Otaku fantasies ride the fans crazy, and the stats are in order to get Pink as well with the help of Akabane "Anarchy" Kirara.

All 3 magical girls have distinct personalities, though for Pink, it takes a brain full of imagination just to cross out the battle of consciousness to win her over. Even with the support of her hardcore fans, it's to reclaim what was lost, and whatever it is, the 3 magical girls are all back in full force to fight back against the Shobon Army.

Execution is so-so, but this is just the beginning.

now that the 3 magical girls are united again lets see how they will fight the government that is oppressing the otakus

That acid trip with the girls was insane lmao. This show is just absolutely ridiculous in all of the best ways.

I love blue as well, she and anarchy chemistry is amazing and having a token masochist is always a plus.

I’m just wondering if this is all real or if it’s just in their head

That OP will go down as one of the most creative in recent memories for sure

Animation is incredible, hope they do the same for 100 gfs anime. Plot is a little messy but hopefully the creator wasn’t lying about madoka inspiration and will bring the twist next episode! Also the ed is amazing!!!!

Well, this anime will be pretty interesting to watch with this crazy plot with twisted world and great animation, and i really don't mind getting some small fanservice from time to time 😏, of course without turning this anime in to Ecchi one.

A lot better than the first episode, I dunno about the Otaku premise in the first place but I'm all in for the magical girl transformation (Still thinking who have the best one, I'm in between Anarchy or Pink lol) and the sequences were at times rough but it's also on the edge of the seat with it's creative setup.

I love the visuals a lot, it's a style we don't see much of nowadays, that's for sure. The plot feels a bit flimsy and all over the place with its execution, but it was still incredibly amusing and out there. Blue and Pink officially are back, after a very intriguing battle, and the revolution against the Shobon Army can carry on once more.

I hear the creator had some inspiration from Madoka Magica, and you know, Episode 3 is coming up and all, so I wonder if there's something interesting next time.

Damn, that's quite very nice. This show is a perfect mix between comedy and serious moments, it can switch from a ton of sex jokes to an epic fight, very well done. The way to manage to get Pink-Chan to join the group was to use hard drugs, nice. It's still as fucking beautiful animation-wise, Bibury really flexing something that they didn't showed off before, I really hope it stays that cool for the other 10 episodes. The ending is similarly on par with the opening for being very great. ALSO THEY DID A POP TEAM EPIC VISUAL AT THE END SO COOL.

I didn't expected so much in the first episode, but it seems that Blue give a great and funny mood to the show. Also the OP is incredible as the ED. This ep had an incredible animation with the battle animations and well the transformations of Blue and Anarchy are so similar to Sailor Moon. I love the way this anime is going. 8/10

It's difficult to describe the absurd lack of coherency, cohesion and function on display.

It's clear there's a lot of young talent on this team, particularly in the animation side of things. The unique and high-concept web-gen-esque style of drawings makes itself felt known. Particularly in the OP, whose drug-core psychedelics are some of my favorite-looking stuff in an OP this season. It almost makes you think you're in for a high faluten abstract deconstruction on the magical girl genre; think Madoka Magica but by way of Kill La Kill. Or some sort of Ikuhara anime; a dream-like delve into social ideas.

But instead, I can't help but feel like it's all flash and no substance. A bunch of horrible, unlikable nightmare characters are fighting this grand antagonist that seems so simple yet is so incomprehensible. No effort is made to ground the world-building or even thematic ideas in any way. Scenes play out like extended fugue states bouncing from abstract idea to abstract idea punctuated with failed attempts at pathos and feel-good moments raunchy dumb comedy.

Speaking of which, boy do I think this show's comedy sucks. Comedy can't just be built from archetypes and aesthetics. It has to be built from a foundation, which the story and characters lack. I think the Kill La Kill comparison is apt because that's the tone and energy it seems to be mimicking the most. But I don't think it's unfair to suggest that it learned the worst lessons about what makes Kill La Kill funny and a good example of social commentary. Kill La Kill never had to sacrifice its on-the-nose-ness zaniness, it kept it. But it earned the ability to "keep it" by having its world, heroes, villains, and side characters have clear motivations.

Magical destroyer's world feels incomplete. The characters feel lost and lack purpose. But that doesn't stop them from just inventing seemingly random and uninteresting ploys to pretend are complete purposeful ideas. It's complete fancy.

I keep waiting for the joke to be that this whole anime's existence is a sci-op or social experiment for something beyond me. Like there's some sort of industry in-joke that I'm out of the loop on. I get that is uses otaku references, ideas, and imagery, but they feel arbitrary and detached. It doesn't feel like the writers of this show were interested in sharing their ideas outside of the very very small audience that chanced upon the same wavelength.

But I will watch the OP once a week.

much like the first episode, this one is kinda a mess
the animation isn't bad, and in fact during the transformation sequences it was pretty good, but a lot of the time it feels way stiffer than I'd like out of a show with this aesthetic
blue action as a translator for pink was a decent joke that got a chuckle out of me, but otherwise nothing particularly stood out to me. I'll keep watching for 1 more episode, but if episode 3 doesn't hook me I'll have to drop the show
unfortunate, since I was quite looking forward to this anime

Two eps in and this show's exactly what I feared it would be from ep 1, a black hole of creativity outside of its OP/ED that feels like it's trying to have "soul" through a checklist that it barely puts any effort into the contents of.

I love the aesthetics but I really do hope they flesh out the world and characters soon. I don't think it's a good thing when I think that the best parts so far are when the otaku side-characters are around to be funny and relatable. Not really a fan of the melodrama where the characters win the day by crying and appealing to each other's emotions.

And why are there people who still haven't swallowed it because they think it's funny,But they want to see how the story and characters will develop, they want to see this anime have its potential awakened and I believe it can when it arrives in one of the Episodes but I think he must surprise some time because this anime was reminding me of Bocchi that also the beginning was whatever that later developed well in the middle to the end

another solid episode, one of the most enjoyable shows from this season.
animation is just eye candy and that one transition was smooth as hell.
blue is so jokes, pink is also interesting.

Honestly quite a bit better than the first episode. Love the psychedelic nightmare-zone the girls get thrust into and have the feeling that there's more to the cast than meets the eye. Wouldn't be surprised if the show has a handful of twists coming forward and even if the writing is kinda barebones It makes up for it with keeping the visuals fun to watch. Shoutouts to the color grading bc omfg I love it so much.

I'm curious to know where this series comes from. It seems more like animators trying to come with cool visual stuff rather than a traditional story. I'm loving it, if they can tie everything with the story and interesting themes it could be something great.

The amount of praise for it's creativity really bothers me. This episode attempts an acid trip and it falls flat, feeling like they googled "mind screw" and copied the first page of the image results, like really, MC Escher stairs and an End of Evangelion reference is the best you've got for a drug trip sequence? Blue being a horny masochist is such a lame predictable gag after her episode 1 introduction I can't believe they actually did it.

The gags feel like a bad anime parody from a western cartoon from 20 years ago, really, a big head gag? I haven't seen a real anime do a 'character shouts and their head gets really big and SD but not their body' gag in over twenty years, except when Americans try and parody anime. It doesn't feel like a show in touch with otaku culture at all, they had a magical girl with a syringe and they didn't even reference otaku gag anime Nurse Witch Komugi?

The amazing soundtrack and incredible animation are utterly wasted on this trite, bad comedy drama hybrid that isn't funny and tries to be emotional without earning it.

Trippy ep.

The action was sick and Blue is best girl easily.

Personally Idc about the messy direction or lack of story, as long as this can deliver some mindless fun week to week, then it can probably be my AOTS.

would rather have a show that doesnt try to have some message or concrete plot than  seeing it try and fail at it anyways.

First talking about liking the characters, I feel a middle ground where it makes me unsure if I like them or not.

Something I'm loving about this anime is the beautiful art, its analogies and various references to works from the otaku world. Opposition, perversion and madness! Everything is working fine.

In this episode, there was no way not to notice the references to Evangelion. And my god, the opening and ending are jaw-dropping, they sound so much like music videos, I need to hear this band of three magical girls and an otaku right now!

And finally, this art by Pop Team Epic, just confirmed what I thought since before the anime was announced, that they were using the work as a reference for the characters.

The surreal almost dreamlike state of the world along with the imagery in the ED of someone staring up into a surgery bay light followed by Otaku Hero laying unconscious in a hospital bed surrounded by the magical girls suggests the reality we are watching may actually exist at least partially as a projection of his own mind. This world and its struggle may be the result of some sort of internal fugue state. Note that the final magical girl, White, who has sided with the enemy, looks a bit like a nurse, and even has a large red cross on her chest.

I think there is a greater meaning behind the abundant symbolism. It's too early to make much sense of it yet, but it's almost like the 4 magical girls each represent some part of Otaku Hero's inner self.

I'm still feeling conflicted about this show. I really like how off the wall it is story-wise despite not liking the story... If that makes sense. It's entertaining to watch, and yet the story is underwhelming. I also really dislike the Otaku-hero character. I hate his design. Granted it's only been two episodes, but I have yet to see why he's needed as an MC in this show.

Animation is often incredible. That entire fight in Pink's mind was fucking sick. Great transformations. Really beautiful stuff. Hopefully the story will become more appealing in future episodes.

I love how much of a consistent acid trip this is, from the into to the end, OP and ED included lmao. Reminds me a bit of Kill la Kill with its directing, but like dial up the content itself to even more crazy heights.
