Well, this is getting more serious in terms of the actual ninja exams. I mean, lives might be at stakes? Honestly, it felt like these exams were much more about just becoming a certified ninja.

It sounds like being part of that school and the exams is a sentence for a shorter life.

inb4, someone from Koga killed their ex-chief and blamed Iga because they wanted to use his body for an experiment, maybe something like trying to create a genetically modified super ninja, and start a war.

So for attempted murder you don't get expelled even though it's one of the 'Three rules of Ninja' not to kill?... What a fantastic school this is.

Once again all the non-ninja skills his mother had him learn seemed to disappear into nothing and he was utterly useless. "I'm sure he must hate me." Well... yeah. You've completely blindsided him by refusing to teach him about the one thing his life is going to evolve around. It's not even that she had a moral issue with children being ninja because his childhood friend is his bodyguard. They've given no reason as to why he wasn't trained that holds any sort of weight.

i said in ep4 that they need to pick the pace up. well. this was something.

exams that stakes someones life is a thing that shouldn't exist but it is, on Ninja's world that is. Suzaku killing Ittoki just because "Iga killed the head of Kouga" is so faqin stupid, and if that explosion didn't happen the exam would continue as is cuz' basically in ninja school you can do anything just don't get caught and you good. ik they explained it alrd, but what a bizarre rule.
and that plot twist at the end caught me off guard. holy hell!

I feel like, at least among students, there's no one that has real intention on killing. So since no one want to kill anyone there won't be a traitor in the first place. But it seems like the next episode, which will be a flashback episode, will be quite bloodbath.

Figured there was more than one traitor, with both that guy and blonde girl but I wouldn't be surprised if there were even more traitors as I don't fully trust gadget girl, Satomi, either. That was a strange exam and no one is held responsible for the explosion and Suzaku for the attempted murder? Ok then, at least Kousetsu is badass and, in my opinion, carrying the show.

For the ninja school, exams are part-and-parcel of life, and sadly for Ittoki, it feels like nothing has gone in his head of what's happening...or rather, due to the horrible writing, he isn't really given a heads-up.

The Koga chief Minobe Kishinmaru's assassination in the midst of another war between it and Iga, and Suzaku poised to become its next leader, who knows why he has to die willingly just to ready the next heir (just like Ittoki). And all of this demarcated for the end-of-term practical exam, Ittoki is bound to hit a snag due to Kousetsu's whims, and unfortunately this was his trigger point. His pep talk with the Ninja Academy's headmaster to clear up his doubts, it certainly helped him quite a bit.

Truthfully, having a traitor in this case is also part-and-parcel of what it means to be a ninja, and at least Ittoki braved up to face Suzaku, and ran for as long as he can to avoid killing him, which he survived the ordeal. But aside from Tokisada knowing that Shione is tailing him, never trust blonde characters like Kirei, working for Suzaku.

Just let the genericness steamroll...

fast-paced episode. and as always, kousetsu carried it again. though unlike most, i don’t really find ittoki annoying. i think he’s really just THAT kind of character, and i like that he sticks up to his ideologies no matter what. can’t wait for more revelations in the upcoming eps.

I don't know. The ninja exam was underwhelming. I think you can watch it, but you have to turn off your brain. The ending was the only interesting part of this episode.

So... when two concepts of justice clash, the one with true power is the one that survive.
The key word is survive, not win. For a gakuen anime, this left a lot to be desire.
I can understand that Ittoki is unaware of what a Ninja is, the concepts behind "do everything on the shadows", and "a life for a thousand". But is borderline cringe to see him be so naive, dreamer and without using those physicals abilities he has show at the first chapter. Also, for a person who has the power to avoid be bully, is disgusting how he takes too easily the role of the victim. Yes, he is in a hostile environment, yet that doesn't mean he has to embrace that role with the eas he has show.
His rival... i understand that live to fulfill the dreams of the person you admire is a think in japan... but his desire to "kill" even in a schollar environment is stupid... or at least, the development of the series make me thing that doesn't have the deep that other series have.
The plot surrounding the killing of the Koga late leader... is so predictable, that amazing me how late we are in the anime, that the havoc haven't be released.
For a studio that made El Melloid Case Files (9 to me), Sakurako-no Ashimoto (8), Ald.Noah Zero (7.5 if not was for that anticlimactic climax), Re:Creators (6)... this is painful and disappointing. Dunno if is Troyca's writers or DMM's writers, but i am struggling to find a reason to keep watching this.

You mean to tell me that you sent your kid to a ninja school without teaching him anything about ninjas, but also without knowing anything about the school? School is literally parenting 101.

For his background, Ittoki's behavior and talk no jutsu makes sense I suppose, but that doesn't mean that it's not annoying. While we found out about the "actual" traitor, I'm still suspicious of the girl from the Saiga village, and I'm surprised that not even Kousetsu indicated any suspicions after the test.

So, it looks like the plot thicken when Itokki's uncle see what can be looked like as Minobe Kishinmaru in a tank, were them Koga's making a clone of him or what?

Well then just as I think that the red head is the snitch it turns out it was the blond who's the snitch.

I wonder why didn't Suzaku kill Ittoki when it looks like that he's hellbent on revenge ?

Kousetsu i hope she becomes more likable since right now the only thing good about her is her character design

man these non-protag characters better start being less terrible and stupid at some point. like you can accept one blind idiot hating Iga with no reason and being violent enough to kill a kid for it. the entire lot of them? that's a bit much

also MCs that just can't accept the reality of their situation to their own downfall are really annoying. he got over if after a lecture but it's ep5 man. this ain't news.

So this might have been the best episode yet, character development wise. I felt bad for the Koga heir to be (redhead) as he has GOOD reasons to want revenge.

Gotta really start to wonder why the "pacifist" leader was killed, and if the Iga really did so? If his father did kill the Pacifist Koga, then he's still got blood on his hands through his clan. The "frail" guy leading the Koga now ... seems to be very suspicious. Wonder if he's really responsible?

I'm starting to hate the MC and his inept mom. He really needs to get with the program and figure out how to keep himself alive because luck and plot armor can only go so far before viewers give up on stupid writing.

I'm soooooo tired of weak pussy MCs. Like seriously, what's the purpose of him being like this? Sure, it makes sense if we take the story into account, but the story itself is so insanely dumb that it'd be better to just forget it and at least make him likeable.

The pacing of this show is so weird. it felt like a lot things happened, but at the end nothing has really moved. Kousetsu and Ryouko(really sus) are definitely the most interesting characters, but character writing is nonexistent for now, so I hope they actually do something besides staying trope characters. My main issue is the cuts. What are those cuts? Two minutes scenes into a power point transition. Idk this episode was weirdly directed.

I don't know why more people aren't talking about this. that was one of the things that again is pissing me off. They put this huge hook out there where she is saying no one else is going to have disguise type Ninja tools and they happen to have the same exact one she gave him....... and no one's going to ask her about that!

This is almost as bad as when the Uncle said to the mom hey maybe we should tell him what's going on and give him all the backstory..... Mom says nah!
Or when he's never used a single ninja tool in his life and when he asked for help from his supposed childhood friend who knows he has zero clue what he's doing...... she scoffs at him and says not enough training!

Also for the first time ever someone with apparently more than one brain cell has the bright idea to finally fucking ask...... why would the Iga want to kill the Koga leader, but her supposed superior in the Ninja police says.....that doesn't matter they be mad now so who cares about the why.......fuck this show!

So many things are just wrong with this show. The ninja rules apparently have no power what so ever. Like everyone is killing everyone apparently so whats the point.
Also in last episode the ninja tool family head talked about how he doesn't want his daughter to take over. So their clan is just going to go legit and get out of the world of ninja....... so why the fuck didn't his mom do that after the dad died.... well let's just end it there, my husband's dead I don't want this way of life for my son so much I'll keep it secret from him. nah JK let's keep going but just for shits and giggles let's also not tell my son he is gonna have to maybe keep the family going.....ugh

For real one of the worst animes I've ever seen in my life. Rant over, it's just every new episode makes me more confused and angry.
I won't be surprised if I went to get a check up after finishing this anime and my doctor told me I had testicular cancer.... cuz this show will give people cancer or the downs.

pretty generic and lame but well it is enjoyable to watch.

it's getting really irritating to watch mc's who are being targeted to killed being all, "it's bad to kill" and such shit. i'm in disbelief that shizuaku didn't kill ittoki there just because of ittoki's small lame ass speech.

the school has a rule which says no killing but it doesn't do anything to prevent that. can they not even monitor their students? use some drones or shit man.

irroki's patheticness is almost on par with the mc of platinum end. platinum end mc got a contender finally.

the whole anime is full of bullshit. all we can do is turn our brains off and enjoy.

I'm still trying to figure out why a ninja clan/village would agree to be led by a non-ninja. That was my first huh moment and they just keep rolling in.
