Awesome, it was indeed just an epic adaptation expansion, that led to an actually more interesting way to reach the climax of the arc (Yoko putting herself between DS and Abigail, and THEN seeing an opportunity to make him fall into the abyss by breaking the loose cliff portion he was standing in, instead of having her just do that while he was attacking DS with the laser beams).

This anime was adapted with a profound amount of care from start to finish, even the lazy blank panels of Hagiwara from the source were elaborated properly (particularly noticeable during the Ring episode).

Kinda reminds me a bit of HxH 2011 vs the manga chapters (in that case it was more problematic though).

Fantastic first arc adaptation overall, 8/10 for 1-24.

5/5 to the final episode, and let's hope for a new cour adaptation for the next arc!

I should again point out this is a precursor that pioneered a lot of those tropes it used at the time (including 4th-wall-breaking meta-commentary comedy within a half serious plot).

Much like JoJo part 1 and 2 (mostly part 1), it WILL feel dated nowadays no matter what, and that's an expected reaction from new audiences even by the committee. Hopefully you should enjoy the next arcs much more (if they decide to adapt them, that is).

My god, just how many times did Abigail have to come back? And that's a really unsatisfying point to end the story. Have they announced another season yet?

Almost loved it but definitely enjoyed it a lot. From what I heard the following stuff happens after a time skip and it's more complicated, serious, and on a higher scale, which sounds great on paper but I wonder if that's good for a show this dumb.

Anyways, if they make a third season, I would watch it regardless of its quality, but the general opinion of this show was so bad, I don't know if that will happen, I sure hope so.

I enjoyed my time more than i expected in this anime. Some comedy scenes are really good and couldnt be found in the new generation of anime series. The main story and story telling are the main cons(how many times did anime do the fake death of abigail and darsh which made me bored while watching these scenes) for this anime however it covers these cons with good comedy scenes and it doesn't take it's main story too serious. It could definitely be better at comedy, story telling and dialagues. therefore it is

7/10 for me

Does this have a conclusion? I see its been on hiatus since 2010 which essentially means its not coming back. Hope for some kind of end at least.

Do hope for more, this show is dumb absolutely but it is fun for what it is. Can get it to a 7/10, is badass enough to overcome its silliness to get that much from me.

Like, this first arc is generally agreed to be a fun introduction... to a much more epic and funnier (and hornier) eldritch ride going forward haha
So yeah, overall while it's good fun stuff, it IS the weaker part of the content and goes by the numbers for a bit (though still breaking many conventions and introducing some interesting tropes at the time of release, which influenced many manga to come all the same).

It doesn't have a conclusion yet however, and this is the real king of hiatus in the manga world, HxH has nothing on it (maybe Clamp's X is the only competitor in terms of content released since launch). I would say it's worth just having a blast and reading without thinking too much about the hiatus. The art evolution is superb as well.

If all goes right, I guess Hagiwara may soon start making more chapters (he is active on twitter and very pleased by the anime, and also being part of Bastard!! expos in Japan atm), the admittedly lazy perfectionist bum stopped writing in order to remake the earlier volumes with new artwork (and then entered in hiatus nine volumes into adjusting them).

Then again, his canon Bastard!! hentai doujins apparently got him more money than the volumes ever did and he got really snarky about that some years ago lol (saying like "maybe I should just write more hentai instead" iirc).

Man, I didn't expect a "to be continued" in the end.

Part 2 had its cringe moments like part 1, but it's a fun anime to watch. Abigail was a true boss and pushed everyone into the corner. Story-wise it's nothing impressive but the studio did a really good job on art and animation. The OP song will be in my mind for years, it's so damn good.

Hoping for another cringe moments on S2.

Batch 2 adapts Chapter 41 to Chapter 69 of the manga. Episodes 23 and 24 have anime-only scenes with the second half of 23 and first half of 24.
Basically all that stuff with Kai Harn and Sean Ari showing up and them having to fight the undead army and the giant undead and basically DS having a fire spirit form (which I'm pretty sure is a reference to stuff way later in the manga) are all original scenes. It's why Abigail felt like he kept getting back up since he gets up like 3 times in the anime-original scenes.

It's on nonstop infinite hiatus since 2010, so no conclusion. But the manga does go insanely out there after the next arc that this anime didn't cover. And whether that's to people's liking or not, I think it's 50/50.

So I finished it!
I hope a S2 isn't entirely impossible.
I read all of the manga after the first batch and I wanna see the latter half parts animated, but I feel like with how they relied on the CG here with Abigail's Demon Mech, they might rely a whole lot on that for the really insane setpiece matches.

I was guessing this second half was gonna adapt Abigail and Kall-Su arcs but I didn't realize how long Abigail's arc was!
If so, Kall-Su arc might just take the whole season if we ever get a continuation! Because that was long!

I hope so. They did tease us with that "to be continued" at the end though. I don't think they would put it out there if they didn't have plans for the future.

Well if it gets too looney toons i don't think I'd be able to take it but I'll be giving it a shot if the anime does continue. The absurdity and the nudity/sexuality have really been something I've tolerated not really enjoyed so if these elements go up... ehhhhh. Just turns into a wacky soft core porno if it goes any harder.

it was disappointing frankly, it feels like they needed to delay the end, I don't know why, make people die, make them come back to life, make them die, make them come back to life, make them die, make them come back to life, it's horrible frankly !!!

and of course the end the cream of the crop of course !!! :/

Well, that was an ending. I'm so confused rn. Wtf happened? Did DS send the castle and its crew to a pocket dimension or something? How did Yoko survive the fall? Did DS save her? So many questions and we got a damn cliffhanger ending. Hopefully, the anime will be continued as promised. I can only see the story getting more interesting from now with the introduction of these new characters by the end.

But gotta say, I think I like Part 1 better. It covered more territories and felt more like an adventure whereas Part 2 became very repetitive by the end. Still enjoyed it very much.

I didn't think this show would be so successful considering I barely saw anyone talk about the series on social media. I guess majority of the viewers are from Japan? Also, Netflix did almost no marketing or advertisements for Part 2. And with Cyberpunk Edgerunners releasing just a few days before probably didn't help it at all. I hate Netflix's treatment towards anime. If a Season 2 is made it probably wouldn't make much of a difference if it switches to a weekly release since most people who didn't watch season 1 probably won't care about a sequel. It's a shame cause if this was released weekly then I know this show would've been more popular.

Considering that the manga became a monthly (heh, I wish, it's a flipflop hiatus schedule like Berserk) it's gotten more pages per chapter. So if they really wanted to adapt all of it, I can wager it'd take 3-4 seasons to cover the rest. If Abigail's arc is an indication of pacing, Kall-Su's arc alone may take most of the 2nd season (if not, all).

I can't believe we ended with another cliffhanger and introduction with a lot of interesting characters... Please bring S2.

I liked the first part a little more, but the action on part 2 was way more hype. I think Abigail took to much time :S

Also Blessless is definitely one of my favorite ED theme this year, it is beautiful.

"You talk too long."
"I was having fun giving that speech!"

Its so nice having a monologing antagonist who is self aware!

I cant even be mad that he came back AGAIN. Not when he ultimately died in such a goofy way. Its just fitting.

They actually managed to make the ending dramatic and emotional. Wow. Absolutely GOATed. I really loved the directing in this show and the OST was just the cherry on top.

Here is to hope season 2 comes soon, I am way too curious to see what Kall Su is up to. And I guess we saw the next set of antagonists?

What a cliffhanger after credit scene!

I really enjoyed Part 1 and was looking forward to Part 2, but it ended up being such a drag. I won't be watching another season if there is one.

Part 1 was awesome because you had DS encountering new characters and interacting with the world in unique ways, so I was hoping for more of that.

Part 2 was just monster-of-the-week until it became monster-of-the-season in the second half, and that format does nothing for this type of show.

I loved it. Nice to watch something silly with a lot of stupid humor and cool moments. I preferred part 2 over 1 as I felt part 1 started off way too slow before ending strong. Part 2 felt more consistent throughout. The Abigail fight went on really long, but I still enjoyed it. Darsh acting like he was finally dead so that he could fondle Yoko's ass and stick his face in her cleavage was an excellent moment.

I still need to read the manga. Hope they adapt more of it if there's still enough to adapt.

Honestly loved Bastard!! thoroughly. I'm going to count Part 1 and 2 as one whole because that's how it should be imo.

THis was just so much fun though. It's this weird semi-serious tone going which I just fell in love with. I really want to know what happens to all these characters after this huge cliffhanger which I can usually shrug off in other shows, but here I really give a shit. Absolutely fantastic show and I pray we get a second season.

And so we wrap up with the defeat of Abigail with a Saruman-the-white execution style. Dark Schneider grabs Yoko's ass, and then later the whole castle... explodes?? At least Yoko and Dark Schneider somehow find themselves in some alternate dimension, where they share a kiss which causes Lucien to return as his boy form. Then in the after credits scene we see them show up at a hidden Samurai castle, all bloodied and bruised and seeking for help. TO BE CONTINUED. I have no idea if Part 3 or Season 2 or whatever is either in the works or at least planned to be in the works, but I sure hope that this project isn't completely axed. This show was designed from the ground up to be a guilty pleasure and I love it.

Not much else to say since this show's so basic, so I guess I'll leave with saying who my favorite girl was. Honestly have no real preference, but low-key I do gotta say it's probably Sean Ari, who had imo the hottest scene which was also a borderline sex scene almost. Part 1 definitely was more horny, where Part 2 almost completely focused on the action. Nei Arshes is your one real WOMAN, Kai is your tomboy, Sheila is a timd shy schoolgirl, and Yoko... was just a little bit annoying tbh.

And yeah that's it for now, I do hope we see a continuation eventually, even though I'm assuming this didn't get a lot of recognition. Didn't get to face off against Kal-Su (however you spell his name) because Abigail just wouldn't die, but at least we have something to look forward to should season 2 ever truly come to fruition. I gave Part 1 an 8/10 and feel the same way here for Part 2. Although most likely that's the recency bias talking, and I'll probably lower them both down to a 7/10 sometime later. Glad I was able to enjoy this along with you guys. See you in Season 2, fingers crossed that it will actually happen.

Enjoyed it far less than part 1 but still kinda decent. Loved the fourth wall break moments.

Abigail returning like 10838 times made it frustrating to watch sometimes.

The end scene was interesting. I hope Gara and Nei are alive. 5/10

Dark Rebel Army Arc - COMPLETE

Wowwwww what the actual fuck looooool. This show is so fucking absurd and weird, i love it in a weird way. The OP playing while Dark Shneider kicked that guy's ass was cool, I loved how he looked with the fire on him like that.

As for the ending, im surprised, but they're saving Kal Su for the next arc I suppose. He must be the true main antagonist, right? Anthrasax is no longer awakening, but the princess and fucking everyone evaporated?????? Does that mean Gara and Nei are gone too??? What the hell happened man!!!

Now obviously DS isn't dead, but he's really damaged and stuck in Lucien's body. Ig time to wait to see what happens in Season 2 loool.

Overall I like this show a decent amount, it's goofy and ridiculous but it's charming. I like how it looks and Dark Shneider is dope.

He's out of magic but he has a contract with spirits. They can become his body. Fiery Dark Schneider interrupts Abigail to get to killing him but both the hero and villain are invulnerable is some ways.
Yoko took the chance to kill Abigail even if the cost was her own life, but Abigail plays his trump card last as planned. The whole kingdom is engulfed in a black hole; from within it looks like the entire Universe ended (funny that I watched this finale's after JJBA's on Netflix).
Dark Schneider doesn't have his lower half, but he can always uses his hands lol
We move away from a European-esque land but with Japanese Ninjas to full on Samurai and Yoko turns up on the doorstep with bloody Lucien.
