A lot of background storytelling this episode. Tbh, sibling relationships in this show never seemed easy to tell. The clash of egos, personalities, etc takes hold on character roles.

I do like the way they gave us more insight into Shimazu's past though.

The Shimazu Band is on the brink of collapse thanks to Akihiro himself turning into a lonewolf, and their backstory explains it all of how they got to here in the first place.

Akihiro is the only brother whom his Kitetsu Blade is Red, and is knighted as the Shimazu's future leader, that his decision to give his position to his elder brother Haruhisa only infuriates their Lord to designate them as rank-and-file Bushi. This causes both Akihiro and Haruhisa to part ways and do as what their jobs are given by the colour of their blades, and simultaneously holding that responsibility to slay the Kishin.

Unfortunately, Akihiro's stern-faced application bears no hope for his brothers for his resignation to the role, and he has to uphold his reputation as well by defeating Yamato no Orochi, even if it meant sacrificing his life for his younger brothers and Haruhisa. And the force marker that Akihiro has carried all along (thanks to Musashi) reinvigorated their spirit to reconcile with the rebellious brother, but with the pressure of the Shimazu family to uphold that Akihiro is feeling the heat, what's pressure if it ain't felt like a familial bond, and that same bond of chain defeated Yamato no Orochi.

Now it's the lackeys' turn to finish what is left.

Great episode! Akihiro is trying to break the Kishin's horn by himself so he can take the credit. All of the Shimazu are wondering why he changed so much from what he used to be like.
They think it all changed at his blade trial...
He was the only red bladed bushi and his lord made him the head of the house even though he wanted his older brother to be. He said that only red bladed bushi are able to rule and that from now on his elder brother is below him.
How bladeist!
Akihiro orders everyone to link blade energy and says he is the only one who will fight.
It seems he is just trying to protect them though.
The kishin ate him!
Though the blade energy is still linked...so he is still alive.
Musashi convinves Haruhisa to go after Akihiro.
'If I die...the others will be happy.'
I feel bad for Akihiro quite a bit now...
He is suprised but annoyed that Haruhisa came to save him!
Musashi gave him Akihiro's force marker and it showed Haruhisa that he did care about them.
The others are also there for him and they link their blade energy again!
Akihiro isn't in the best condition and Musashi says he can fill in for him but Akihiro feels that if he doesn't link then he will be useless to the clan.
He gains his energy again and breaks the Kishin's horn!
Yamata no orochi is finally gone!
Akihiro says he owes Musashi for helping him.
Now the white forces have the job of rescuing the Uesugi leader!

Looking forward to the next episode!

This is supposed to be an uplifting episode, and yes, it is. But I can't help but facepalm at the whole orange hair family affair. It's like the author's trying to force every family to have some kind of internal conflict, IMHO the orange hair group might work better if they're just a normal high ego family. Not enough time to develop their backstory, but since the author present it I'll analyze it anyway. There are two systems on the path of leader. One is the currently active system, a person with more power should lead (in this case judge by the color of their sword power). The other one is the person who born before (big brother/father) should lead. It's not like one system is clearly better than the other one so I'm quite raise my eyebrows when the anime clearly pick one system as a solution. I mean, what's wrong with having a powerful leader? This is not the first time I see characters with good design being wasted on a so-so development and it's not gonna be a last time either, but I still feel pity everytime it happens.

Let's move on to saving Tatsuomi Uesugi, I hope he's still intact, I love his body.

As much as I feel for that emotional Akihiro flashback of the Shimazu clan, I still can't help the feeling that Mushshi is still on the sidelines in his own story. At least Yamato no Orochi is no longer a threat anymore.

Tbh, this is how a bushidan is supposed to work. Their way of life (bushido) is also pretty messed up unlike how many people think of it. They're harsh to outsiders, brothers might kill each other for the throne (definitely not dramatic tho), etc.

So two episodes left to find Michiru...is this even going to happen. I feel like Musashi didn't even give a damn after Orochi vanished.

Then next week they rescue the lord? Thought he was dead!!!

Idk. Feels like a rushed ending incoming.

yeah this episode was massively bogged down by serious bouts of 'flashback-itus'. frankly, i FF through all those bits because they weren't all that interesting. bad/mean/evil dad... bla bla bla... bunch of self-hate... bla bla bla... sibling bonds screwed up... bla bla bla...

i know backstory is important to the character development and plotline of the story. but shoving it into the MIDDLE of an important and supposedly CLIMACTIC battle where lives are on the line, is just cruddy writing.

add into all THAT and the massively ho-hum-boring poorly animated/choreographed big finishing moment of the episode
that just shows that this episode is seriously lacking in quality writing as well as animation.

the Bell vs Moss Huge fight in Danmachi this season was better than this one. the ep12 finale fight in My Isekai Life was done better.
just an ol school American otaku enjoyin the life. don't sass me kiddies, i've been otaku probably since before you were born. leave me in peace and i won't bother you either.

Bruh did they forget about Michiru? I was positive she'd be saved by the time the Kishin was slayed but nope.

Akihiro ended up being reedemed. My suspicions about him trying to protect his brothers and taking the job to break the horn because no one else can were right. Hhe will probably act a lot nicer to everyone now, especially Mushashi.

This seemed like the main battle of this Season and Mushashi our MC hasn't contributed much to it, his shining moment was in episode 9 with him breaking the barrier lights something repeatedly so that Shimazu brothers can link up.

So much build up to break the horn and everything just gets over in 5 seconds, damn.

And I completely forgot their lord still needs to be saved, I wonde if he's even alive lol. That reminds me of Michiru, is she alive? She was born from that Kishin and now that that Kishin is gone isn't Michiru gone too? I hope not I mean I want to see the stuff we see in the ED happening in the anime, I want Michiru and Mushashi to get together.

Good episode overall.

The end of an era. Thank you Wit, Mappa and Isayama.
Feeling half happy, half sad.

Decent episode, with Akihiro and his team linking up their blade energy with Mushashi's Help they defeat the Awaji Island Oni but there is still a suspicious feeling you get at the end of the episode.

I give it 6/10.

this was a terrible episode. lame flash backs. lame rah-rah human interest plot. it was forced; i don't "feel" anything for that clan/family of brothers. the actual oni fighting was lame af. the boss went down in 3 seconds

so bad. like a 4/10 type of episode. this season is a definite downgrade from season 1. idk if there will be a season 3, but as of right now, i don't think i'll watch it
