I really wish this season would be 24 episodes or at the very least 12. Honestly this is probably one of my favorite anime of all time. I don’t really enjoy light novels but after this season is over I definitely have to start reading the series from the beginning!

I love an isekai with awesome world building. It is a nice change of pace from all of the fantasy fulfillment ecchi stuff. I also love it because it is such a process and even though Myne knows so much she still struggles with achieving her goals. She also faces some realistic obstructions like class differences and monopolies. I get so excited each week for a new episode.
Where are we going and why am I in this hand-basket?

If you like fantastic world building, then you should definitely check out Mushoku Tensei

It just gets less each season lol. By this rate next season will be 8 eps long.

This season is conclusion to part 2 of the novel, so that's why it's just 10 episodes long. I think there are gonna be some ova this time.

Unfortunately Mushoku Tensei is not for me. To be honest I feel as though it kind of falls into the fantasy fulfillment category. Also, I know this is a debated topic among the anime community (not necessarily specifically this isekai though) but I’m one of those people where this sort of thing comes off to me as pedophilia-ish. Not bashing anyone and I get it is not real life, to each their own.

Oh I hope there are ovas! And I see, that makes sense with it being shorter if it can fit all of part two in 10 episodes. Presumably it’s the best stopping point.

Rudeus ruined the show for me, he's heavily perverted and I really dislike it.

10 episodes will get us to the end of Part 2 of the novels, which is a good stopping point

The light novel is absolutely worth your time. This is a great adaptation but it glosses over a surprising amount of detail from the novels. I only picked it up myself after watching the first two seasons several times.

There's a decent chance that next season could be fairly long. Seasons 2+3 look to cover all of part 2 of the light novel, that's four volumes. (Two per season.) Season 1 covered all of part 1 of the novel which was three volumes, which is why it was a bit longer. Part 3, however, is five volumes and quite a bit happens in some of those too. It'll take a bare minimum of two reasonably long (12-13 episode) seasons to cover all of it, possibly three. Or they could just go for a multi-cour season, though that seems fairly unlikely. Part 4 will be even longer. it's a whopping nine volumes while part 5 (the last part of the series) is currently at 8 volumes, with am estimated total of 12 in the end, though p5v8 just released less than two weeks ago in Japan. (The translation is currently on p4v8.)

The episodes so far feel rushed, im really hoping they are just glossing over some of the slower moments to really flesh out later ones. The novels are 100% worth your time if you can deal with the slow burn of 300+ pages a book. i am currently waiting for the 12th book to be printed and regret nothing.

It'll be 5 episodes / volume so it's not rushed. the first 26 episodes had an average of 5.2 episodes/volume, and the last volume to adapt here have side stories that will probably not be adapted as part of the main anime series so that's a very similar pace overall.

I can only advise you to look past the first episodes, there is some real character development and as others said: his pervertedness is only ~5% of the anime.

I can vouch on this too. The world building in Mushoku Tensei is just as good as Ascendance of the Bookworm. Rudeus was a piece of shit the first episodes, but he's growing up. Great character development.
MT tackles darker themes and leaves me on the edge of my seat, while Bookworm is lighter and leaves me with a smile.

I'm not sure I'd consider nobles who consider commoners to be tools that must obey them under all circumstances and who engage in sexual slavery of said commoners to be particularly light, lol. Though admittedly the anime tends to gloss over this stuff a lot more than the light novel does.

That is the main point of the series, to see how a scumbag of a person like him is slowly but surely adapting himself to be a better person in his new life than the old and i can agree the world building is amazing.

Bookworm s3 is a bit of a rush job as they are finishing the 2nd main arc, i just hope if another season shows up we can get a more slower paced adaptation but so far it has still been good.
