yes definitely, besides mecha, it tackles a very timely society issue: racism and how war affects the current and the generation which lies before us! the OST is also a plus!!!

its amazing, art and sound are great, good drama and emotions, nice fights and so on.

character, especially the Protagonist shin, got good backgrounds and char dev.
the story is well written and it has a good pacing.

if you like code geas i think you can enjoy the show

overall the best mecha since long time, even if mecha isnt the main focus, its more about the drama and characters

one of the best shows in the last few seasons, even compared to kimetsu no yaiba, aot, mushoku tensei, horimiya..... yare yare yare (there are many fkin banger animes out there since 2021, right now its again a good time for anime fans compared to the years befor where we see only one or two very good shows per season^^)

Its really good. The two you mentioned are extremely over the top (in a good way, it is part of their charm) whereas 86 is a lot more grounded. It still has some supernatural elements and cool scifi stuff too. The characters are very well written and the animation is insanely good.

It’s one of the goat mecha anime really

I honestly disagree, I feel like the LN has its moments that the anime didn’t.

I think the LN does a better job of explaining the characters and their emotions, though the anime does have really good cinematography.

86 Is in my opinion a mix of Attack on Titan and Death Note. I mean it’s horrible like Death Note and It gives me aot feelings. The show is just great give it a try it has a good story and really nice characters… but this show is really painful to watch it’s really dramatic but still in a good way. So just try it you have nothing to loose.

Well the majority of others doesn't like reading mostly full text so watching the anime is safer to go and even if the LN is better than the anime adaptation itself, the anime was able to capture the character's raw emotion and provide some symbolism to say the least plus it's one of the better LN adaptations out there.

It really depends obviously, but if the LN has really good writing then they can use diction and figurative language to portray scenes and emotions just as good if not better than in an anime.

Haven't seen gurren lagan, but it's very different from Code Geass, though it's a very good show in itself(I love both of em). The story is compelling, characters are interesting (lead characters anyway), got great ost and beautiful animation, you should try it atleast, you'll pretty much get what it's about from the first episode, if like it, continue, if you don't then drop.

Watch it if you like war stories. When you get down to it, it's a war drama. It has phenomenal cinematography, beautiful or epic music as the occasion warrants, and striking action; but it's best to come in expecting something more grounded at it's heart. When the characters joke that they could die tomorrow it's not entirely a joke.

Well, Asato being involved definitely speaks to why this adaptation has been a better route than the LN. Ngl, I ain't a big fan of the LN.

I agree, this show is mid af and just is mediocre in almost all instances it feels like a shit version of code geass where the protag is female tanjiro (who I also fucking hate). But I'll give it credit the ost is good and the cinematography is fantastic.
