well yeah, but like compared to the shit i love its not much. i said hating something in anime is rare like 3 years ago when i was still new to anime, which has changed drastically recently.

mmm i see. 10s for me are something that is so unique and done so well that it creates a vivid emotional response (i cried after some scenes in violet xD).

ah for sure, comparing shows when rating is something that i definitely try not to do (unless its a sequel).

understandable, competence in anime is actually getting harder and harder to find as newer anime comes out. that whole isekai thing in 2018-19 just left a sour taste after watching some of them, and i found myself just becoming less and less interested in the genre (obvious exceptions of course, like konosuba and shield hero).

thats respectable as well. i score this way because i like how it puts a ton of weight on the higher portion of the scale (7-10), seeing as they are far less common than normal anime (4-5). For example, violet is the only show that ive given a 10, and while i do understand that it has story problems, the execution is just godtier. the shows in the higher portion of my scores have definitely impacted me emotionally, and that objective standpoint helps me score fairly without bias.

ik its kinda weird logic but i do break up each individual portion of an anime into several key parts (art, music, story, enjoyment, etc.) and then generalize that score.

i do really love anime, and i understand that i may be cynical at times/hard to please, but i try to rate my shows as objectively as possible.

(also if you ask me there are people who are wayyy more harsh on their scoring)
