Idk is the movie overrated? Did you watch this movie and think that this movie was good but not worthy of a rating of 8.9? If so does that justify the movie being overrated? Do you think that this movie is possibly overrated by being an overrated movie by the terms of having a rating higher than it should therefore making it overrated? If so your justification of overratedness is underrated and therefore possibly overrated as well.....

kimi no na wa is overrated, koe no katachi, if anything is underrated, because people overrate Kimi no na wa over this way too much, when koe no katachi is the better movie

if any anime movie is overrated then it's Your Name. Koe No Katachi was really deep and had a hard emotional impact...if anything it's actually underrated compared to the likes of the movie I mentioned before.

yep i do think you are right . Just because the animation quality was top- notch , it doesn't mean the story was that good . Even " I want to Eat your Pancreas " was better than Your name and Weathering with you . A silent Voice is not overrated by any means .

Absolutely not, it checks all boxes i rate as a 10, there is simply nothing that I'd say should be improved about it, animation, story, characters, it really is a unique masterpiece.

I'm saying that koe no katachi is underrated because people overrate Kimi no na wa over koe no katachi. Even though koe no katachi is the better movie, koe no katachi deserves more praise than it actually gets cause people keep blowing smoke up kimi no na wa's ass for no reason

I watched it a while ago and I remembered it was pretty good (I gave it a 10), but not so long ago I tried rewatching it (keep in mind my memory is horrible so it was almost like watching it for the first time) and it was horrible, extremely boring and slowly moving, waited for it to end the whole time, a solid 6/10 experience

If you think that it was good but don't live up to 8.99 or whatever it was, that is your opinion and everyone gets to have theirs. That's why we get the averages, although sometimes they might be skewed if someone drops it before they give a rating.

I mean I liked it but other than the protagonist other characters were kinda lacking in characterisation with only a few elements to their personality.

We had little to no peek into the female MCs thoughts. considering the runtime, the writing could have been better but the protagonist is well written. Hats off to that.

This thread is meaningless. How do you get from talking about and if Silent Voice is overrated to saying Your Name is overrated and worse than this one, both movies are really good and the ratings for both movies are justified. If you personally think it's a 7/10 or 8/10 that's your own personal evaluation.

pretty much agree on this there are only few animes out there are what I can call " unique " . and say that it could only be presented in anime format. else movies and western cartoons does a lot better job than anime as a whole .

it doesnt mean its overrated because you think the score should be lower. everyone dont have to like something equally and its totally normal to rate it lower then 8.9. also i dont think koe no katachi was overrated and probably i would still think the same thing if it was 9+ score.

While I think the movie is good, it is a little overhyped imo and I hate how none of the bullies faced any consequences especially the girl who for some reason was immediately accepted into the friend without even apologizing. I honestly don't know what's up with Japan and making bullies get away with everything and never being held accountable for their actions. Overall the plot was good and the relationship and character development between the two mcs was great but everything else was mid. I don't know, I feel like they sent the message that people should easily forgive their bullies even if they made you want to commit suicide which isn't cool to me. I'd give the movie a 7.5

Everything is overrated/underrated according to someone, taste is subjective. For instance, I personally think that it deserves the hype, it has a high level of EQ and successful social commentary. The technical parts, like the art and direction, are also great. On top of that, I shared similar experiences with some characters and it was spot on. Now, I've heard people not liking it, and it's fine I guess. Different strokes for different folks.

This was the first anime movie to break my heart. I was literally sobbing when he was being awful to her just because she was deaf. Something about it hit me so hard. This is a sad but beautiful story about how people who were cruel as kids can turn themselves around and become loving and wonderful people. The fact that he worked so hard to make amends with her despite them having gone their separate ways was heartwarming and so moving. I'm not sure I could have been as forgiving personally.

So you're okay with getting away with everything? You don't even think the characters should confront her about her being a bully? I get your point, but i believe you're wrong. She does atone for her mistakes in her own way( or at least starts the atonement process), its my fav movie/anime and i have watched it prolly a million times, and so if you pay attention to her character you'll see that she believes that action speak louder than words and she's not quite the sentimental type, she's a bully and bitc* still but at the beginning of the movie she does help her write stuff and then gets kinda tired because she believes that shouko doesn't help herself too, during the fireworks scene there is a glimpse of her and family, 3 young brothers and her father prolly, the mom is missing out of this picture , i don't believe its a reach and i think its done om purpose , i think she's always had to be like the tough one and etc for her brothers, and at the end, shouko Indeed starts to take action and stops feeling sorry for herself just like she told her indeed,and takes real action,She notices this change in shouko and , she starts learning sign language to make an effort too to amend things too.
