Many people might know this already, but many may not. So, the reason this skips from Floor 1 to Floor 5 is because the
is still unfinished in the novels. Spanning from floor 3 to floor 9 while the novels currently finished floor 7.

Now, you may ask, if this spans floor 3 to 9, why skip floor 2? I am not really sure about that one.

Though one thing is sure, they won't be adapting SAO's last arc any time soon because around 5+ volumes remain to be released, as well as it taking too long. So, I am not really sure about the decision of adapting Progressive, which is also unfinished. Now we're left with two unfinished projects...

(Sorry if this was a bit hard to read. It's my first time using the discussion part of this website)

Yes you are right and the only Choices left to adapt were the Side Stories and volume 4 which is not much linked with the arc Reki was mentioning
WISHED I COULD ALSO GET TRANSPORTED TO A WORLD FULL OF MAGIC And DUNGEONS, please take me there too if you could ( ◜‿◝ )

It is totally understandable that the production comittee wants the content to be whole and just after then will they adapt it.

I am happy that the floors are not dropped entirely. I’m looking forward to the adaptations and my positivity high. Unlike some party poopers keep on appearing here and there talking negatively about the series. And I’m definitely not talking about someone around here 👀.

People can complain but 5th floor is the best evergreen volume in the Progressive novels which has so many beautiful Kirisuna moments and it will be absolutely treat to watch their interaction. Since the author had explained why they are skipping so it is understandable. We know it will be adapted when that Arc will be finished.

I am currently on vol. 2, so I'm looking forward to it. Also, won't people find it weird that there are so many sudden Kirisuna moments even though they knew each other for a few weeks? Going from floor 1 to fooor 5 content is gonna confuse people imo.

It's just platonic nothing sort of romantic but very beautiful and wholesome, so it shouldn't be the problem.

I see. Welp, it doesn't bother me anyway. I'm looking forward to any SAO content!

Totally bullshit reasons if I may tell you, great authors don't make great macro decisions at all, you have tons of examples.

In most cases, the MAL Average Scores don't mean anything, here is a question: were the works made before 2000 all shit?
Why are they so damn scarce in the Top 50? Think about how MAL is quite literally a filtered amount of the Anime fanbase.

Here's a timeline of the Top 15 in which you can check that, almost always, the scores are affected by the freshness, popularity and other factors that have nothing to do with quality.

It's progressive because it stars Asuna (if I recall well?) prominently, thus a figure of female empowerment, fitting a feminist agenda.

Hold your horses. The novels are from Kirito's perspective. And I hear both Asuna and Kirito have plenty of screentime. This feminism talk is unnecessary and has nothing to do with this at all.

lmfao, you commented this on the other forum post too. Glad to know SAO lives rent free in your head so much that you felt the need to comment it twice.

I hope they’ll do a good job with the decision they’ve made. I do not agree with it, they could have simply followed the novel by making movies as soon as new contents were published.
I do hope they know what they’re doing!

incorrect. progressive is NOT the exact translation or DEFINITION YOU think it is in this situation. progress is the root word, your English conjugation skills apparently are lacking. also you need an English dictionary.

a progressive event, is an event that moves forwards. not IMPROVEMENT or progressive thinking as in 'feminism is a progressive movement to improve the lives of women'.

these series of NOVELS were written by the author to cover the content he SKIPPED ON PURPOSE in his original series concerning the Aincrad Incident. remember, his original text he submitted for his first novel to 'that now famous contest' was TOO LONG! he had too many pages. so, his submission was rejected. later on when he was picked up for physical publishing he and his editor(s) cut even MORE content out. that's why his first novels on the Aincrad Incident timeskip so many days, weeks, months, and floors. we didn't need to know about all the grinding everybody did back then. we didn't need to know about all the side quests and smaller events everybody had to deal with. remember, in SAO you didn't NEED to sleep! it wasn't part of the game mechanics. people slept 'in game' because that's physiologically required of humans. also, we're programmed socially to require it as well. so people, like Kirito who did DAYS AND WEEKS worth of solo grinding without ANY SLEEP could enter relatively 'safe' areas for their skill levels. they could MASSIVELY improve themselves, get loot, get information, while your 'average player' spent time 'resting' in an inn THEN moving around in the day or night time... depending on the quests/events... they participated in.

so if the author had included ALL THIS in his original series? how much do you think the anime funding and production committees would have cut for TV broadcast?

Disappointed even tho I understand why they're doing this. But I'd much rather they delayed it by a year and adapt the floors in sequential order when the Elfwar quest finished. There's no rush, I can live without my fav anime for a year.

> figure of female empowerment, fitting a feminist agenda

Not the novelist fault. It the goddamn anime fans who throw a tantrum back in 2012

Like @KiliianSleipnir mentioned: "a progressive event, is an event that moves forwards. not IMPROVEMENT or progressive thinking as in 'feminism is a progressive movement to improve the lives of women"

Back on topic, A1 Pictures is trying really hard to undermine what make Progressive great in the first place.

This whole situation is a mess. I don't even like the new original character, Mito.

It’s funny when you say a crow can’t become a peacock and have HxH as your name and PFP. One of the most overhyped series in existence

I am absolutely lost what this means. So We got floor 1 in the first movie. And the second movie will be floor 5 because some arc that spans from floor 3 to 9 is not finished yet? If what I just wrote is correct than I have several questions:

How will this not absolutely screw continuity? I mean there's 3 floors of character development and world building that is being skipped? They aren't gonna be able to adapt floor 3-9 in a single movie anyways but someone here said that floor 7 is currently being written. If they have the content up to floor 6 done.... why skip so many of them? I am lost what the point of all of this is... do they expect us to watch movies about stuff that we already know the outcome to as in we know that nobody of the characters that we see in movie 2 will die in the movies that cover floor 2-4. All of this sounds like they are just making a "best off" movie series that is all over the place.

which means that continuity is moot when the movie is gonna stop but its not. So my advice if you want continuity wait several years to watched. Because of how it is releases. So after floor 5 movie, we can expect some floor 2 movie and so on. And fyi progressive is every floor is self contain story
