THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
This was a dramatic episode with everyone wondering about their future and the state of their world.

Unlike the previous episode, there was no room for fun. One thing that did bother me a little about the episode is the dark lighting on some scenes. Still, this episode's buildup had me very interested for the story's future.

Hmm...a Pac-Man like world next, but replaced with mice to save? Distortion is at large, and Asakaze can control it easily.

Sadly for Nagara, he still cannot envision the choice of his choosing for his powers, this still is a random chance. But Rajdhani and the others are OK with the fact that they're still learning about the world at large, piecing things together as they progress as their big project with their powers. Mice are saved, though a literal computer mouse isn't something I'm thinking of. The power to unravel things, it'd be a very useful superpower.

The point with their homeroom teacher Aki-sensei appearing outta nowhere (and Nozomi's words that ring true: Never trusting the words of a large-breasted woman), and that only makes the class of 36 disingenuous at best to find out who is at fault, and bring them back to their original world. Instinctively, everyone thought of "the savior" Nagara (since he basically proved his powers in the last episode), but in fact Aki-sensei already know who is behind this: Asakaze, the special "only one". But with how the class is acting, human conscience is the only thing that is unchanging, and the split between Aki-sensei and Hoshi's faction is inevitable. It's still pretty bad to blame someone for your need.

Nozomi really is the only one enjoying this moment with Nagara, the deep water-like underground of minnow guardian spirits to clear his head. But when it comes to confronting Nagara with the rest of the supporters behind Aki-sensei, Nagara's underwhelming deliveries only raises more anger to the beseeching of this poor soul to "Escape", and Asakaze does the job simple for them as This World's guardian. There's still God hearing Nagara's cries, and He beckons to him to try again.

Honestly though, both Nozomi and Mizuho should punch some confidence into Nagara, and it's glad to see that both and Rajdhani still has faith in him, even when he ran away to the displeasure of everyone. Seems like Rajdhani has figured out Nagara's real power of creating new This Worlds, and this will have implications going forward. NO MORE RUNNING AWAY, NAGARA.

IMO, this unpredictable direction only raises my interest more on how this world operates on one's will.

Once again started off with a weird world and the dynamic. So many mice in a game-like scenario with a computer mouse involved in it as well. LOL. Not to trust the big-breasted woman. They all are blaming all of what happened to them on Nagara. What a weird bunch of idiots.

Poor Nagara... That teacher is really suspicious. I don't like her at all. Still can't put my finger on anything in this show right now. So unpredictable.

Another interesting episode. I hate how the class just instantly blame people without reason however. The mice world was funny lol. Looking forward to the next episode.

Mice world, pretty weird one. Well, every world so far was extremely weird and confusing. Everyone's blaming Nagara after hearing Ms.Aki's words. Of course, that's the only way to stay as a ''human'' otherwise they'd go crazy for sure. Well, this anime is confusing as hell but the visuals are just insanely amazing. It gives off such a relaxing vibe.

Mizuho was as cute as every other episode. A great episode, glad to see Nozomi enjoying the ''this World'' with Nagara.

Everyone sided with Ms.Aki. Nagara's breakdown in the end was a bit emotional. Did ''God'' talk to Nagara when he was crying? Maybe..

Without a ''savoir'' they're a bunch of brainless people. Glad to see that there are people that still care about Nagara such as Rajdhani, Mizuho and Nozomi. The visuals in the end were just crazy.

Thanks to Rajdhani, Nagara found out his true powers. A power to create ''this islands''

PS: you can't trust Ms.Aki or that weird guy with a star on his face lol.

the pacman world though helping the mouse revolution and change the worldview

ye another structure vs agency stuff there

Nagaras power is not teleporting to escape to another world eh but he creates another world or new timeline (or new worldview)? like many worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics the timeline or worlds branches

Asakaze since his power is gravity does that mean he created a black hole or even wormhole the suck everybody on This World

Ms. Aki is definitely the sexual fanservice of this show too

and existence is meaningless until you give it meaning already existentialism 101 "existence precedes essence"

We need to know all of the holdover powers in the objects they've been rewarded to really guess on how this will all play out unfortunately. I'm surprised they stopped listening to Hoshi so soon, but he's obviously going to devise a plan to get everyone following Student Council lead again

Probably my favourite episode yet. First the production, as usual was really strong. The episode was mostly outsourced to wit, but madhouse still worked on the fish scene, which was gorgeous (and yes the swarm of fishes part was entirely hand drawn, no CG there. It was animated by Gosei Oda). Some real good tension this episode, and it actually feels that the plot is finally progressing, which i very much appreciate. I also wasnt ready for the feels i got when nagara was crying, i myself didnt cry but i didnt think i would have gotten as emotional as i actually did. The characters are honestly really growing on me a ton.

I don't know what Aki sensei is trying to do, but she's causing a disaster in the students...
Now everyone is blaming Nagara, I don't know if it's really his fault, but it's not fair although if it really was he. Good thing he has his real friends c:

I didn't understand even half of this episode, but it's so beautiful and entertaining that I don't care xd

Amazing episode! Aki is really suspicious considering all the statements she's making and how she's manipulating everyone to believe Nagara is the problem.

Also, the fish scene was extremely captivating.

For some reason I can't say that I like this show. I am extremely intrigued by it, yes. But there has been no major payoff that made me go 'Holy Shit, that was amazing".
The only reason I'm still watching the show is for the interest that I have for the show. I'm Not saying that this isn't good. It's just that there's only been building of the mystery till now. I've really been enjoying this, but for me to say that I like this, I'll have to wait for the big payoff to come through. The closest example of what I'm feeling right now would be how I felt while watching steins;gate.

P.S. - everything has been looking hella beautiful so far atleast in terms of animation and artstyle.

Also want to add that the broken vase scene with Nozomi was apparently as flashback to a point in time where being scared and anxious caused her sadness in her life.

Don't get mad at me y'all. It was kinda disappointing because of the fan-service big breasts. I think it was really unnecessary. I don't think this kind of anime needs fan-service. Or maybe her big breasts are related to the plot idk. Anyway, I still enjoyed it. It's my favorite anime in this season. As I've said before don't get mad at me, it's my opinion.

This episode finally got me hooked. Nagara can basically fill in the distance between real world and this world by creating new worlds. Every time he restored that island, he created an identical copy. But it also seems like he can switch back thus why he ended on the burned island.

Good episode. Nice bit of character development (or at least some fleshing out) on our lead quartet. The rest of the class are a bit flat for me though. I get the impression that they've been adrift for a while but the show hasn't done a good job of conveying just how long.

[Side note: what's the deal with that weird review in the reviews section? I don't understand their issue]

So Ms. Aki is either lying or she's telling the truth. I'm leaning towards truth at the moment, because her calling ponytail a piece of crap points me in the direction of her knowing everything that's happened so far and more.

This episode kind of adds evidence to the theory that it's fiction all the way down. They can't go back to their world because they're fictional characters. Their real world never existed except as scene dressing for flashbacks.

Nagara creates worlds inside worlds, but maybe the original creator is this God character?

Also there's a hint that Ms. Aki is not the real Ms. Aki but just cast like an actor in the role she's playing here, since the characters note she's not talking like she normally would (presumably how we heard her talk in Episode 2 in that one flashback of the teacher's office)

What the hell is that giant black pit anyway? How does it prevents island from sinking?
Also what were those objects on the shelf? Rewards for solving mysteries of new worlds they get drifted to?
I'm still confused about Nagara's power. Didn't we see he "creates" new worlds? So how is his power replicating (create) those previous worlds?

Aki sensei is definetely good fanservice but, she also means trouble. So, Nagara is the scapegoat for everyone now. There's still a lot of confusion about the powers. Nagara's power seems to be finally figured out, hopefully.

the opening with the new world was a bit confusing, but a good lead into the objects found or created by the superpowered.

ms aki pisses me off though, it seems like shes trying to turn everyone against nagars, even if some are trying to defend him, she tries to turn the class against nagara and the people that are on his side, and the class takes her side. as far as i know, shes up to no good.

glad that rahjdani, nozomi, mizuho and hoshi are still putting faith in him, as he isnt the cause of the this worlds, and rahjdani's lead on what nagaras power could actually be could help them on how they can get home

i feel bad for nagara though, the class was quick to turn on him, and the things they said to him, like how unlike him they were needed back in their original home, really stung, especially since nagara and nozomi and the people theyre turning against are probably their only hope at returning.

great episode though

I don't remember it being mentioned or shown (someone can chime in to help), but Asakaze making the pit is likely. I see two possibilities after hearing 'prevent the island from sinking'.

1. It could be interpreted as 'kept the students sane and prevented chaos'. At the start of ep. 4 you see all the students having fun around the pit remember? Asakaze making it + helps students keep their minds off the current situation = 'prevents the island from sinking'.

2. At the end of this episode, you see Asakaze throw in a skateboard so I assume he was aware that the island was sinking so he was throwing things into it to make the island lighter to prevent it? That's the only thing I can think of right now.

As for your second question, yes but every reward is related to what goes on in the 'new world' it was found in. That was my interpretation at least.

About Nagara's power, I think the simple way to view it is that he can do either (create something brand new + replication). The island was burned down so he simply created a new world which was what the island was like previously.

Nagara's Shinji-like personality is annoying. He was "sorry boy" all through the episode. Also I hope the show wouldn't end up as a sekai-kei (the world shaped by protagonist's action) story like Eva.

Those characters can be classified into 4 quadrants by "You like/dislike real world" vector and "You like/dislike parallel worlds" vector. The reason that I feel relaxed with Rajdhani is he can be happy in any circumstances. Other characters are somewhat selfish and edgy or mindless or wicked.

Nagara actually pissed me off in this episode when he almost apologized in the classroom and then ACTUALLY apologized later on. Come on my man. Thanks god he has the squad of Mizuho (Best Girl) Nozomi, and Raj on his side.
I thought the interaction with Mizuho at the end really developed Nagara more. As he admitted his personal issues.

Well now it seems like the Student Council is now siding with Nagara though and the jealously of Asakaze is being used to his advantage. A Typical troupe in most anime but let's see where it goes.

Decent episode overall.

Kids always searching someone else to be the other subject to blame for their own inferiority. There's always has been like that, always, especially with all of those frustation to be back home. Omg. To my surprise, Hoshi actually lost his power to control the crowd, which is really unbeliavable considering all his charisma kinda big previously. Well, looks like there's kinda be another set of rule from the god which setting him up into a temporary lower side of the society by the next turn of event. Well, as a result he will be forced to silent until Nagara's team figured out how to treat those problems with the majority of the kids and, the big-breasted teacher. I'd been slowly drifting away from this show after loving the first episode, but this one pulled me back in. It was excellent.

We get good story progression, multiple characters getting more fleshed out, it delivered key themes while the show, and was paced incredibly well to the point where there was never really a lull. The scene underwater was incredible, from the visuals to the music.

Definitely one of, if not the best, single episodes of a show this season. Admittedly a really low bar, but still.

The teacher seems suspicious.

The points the teacher made about Nagara being the cause of everything makes sense based on what we know so far. But, it also seems people may be wrong about Nagara's powers. I am excited to know what caused this.

When people got up after Hoshi's speech, it was funny. This is the first time we see him weak.

I always the assumed Hoshi and the president would be against Nagara, but this episode is making me re-think. They stood up for him when he wasn't even around.

I thought the president would create problems using the curtain she found, but she used it to help everyone find Nagara.

Nagara heard the voice too. I really wanna know more about it!!

Rajdhani is MVP! He's my favourite character so far.
