Wow! This episode was okay, compared to the rest that was Yami Shibai 8. Another season concluded.

At least they made an end of it with a sleepwalker who did not know the reason for his decent untidy room. But it still doesn't take away the fact that this season was yet another disappointment for the horror genre... A disappointment.

4/10

The first seasons were about show don't tell and built climaxes that paid off while leaving you questioning what you just watched, Season 8 neither shows or tells you anything, episodes end abruptly without any conclusion and the only thing you end up questioning is why you wasted your time watching it.
Unless we get another miracle like Season 5 was, it's best to kill off this franchise for good.

Last episode was ok . But overall it wasn't impressive most of the story's were lame or fail to hit the mark. But I did like the snow monster episode . IMO it was easily the best and felt like a horror

And I give it 4/10

I'll watch any number of upcoming Yami Shibai seasons (4 minutes a week isn't anything special), but this one was probably the weakest of the franchise

Love this series. Another meh season, Ep 2 is the best one.

Surprisingly not bad, but it's literally the "you need to let me go" meme.

4/10 for the season, I guess it's a good place to drop the series.

A meh episode. This season wanted to experiment with a "Tell, don't show" approach, but they didn't tell anything appropriately, except from that family reunion or the snow episode, which is one of the best of the series overall in terms of drawing. Just for that I'll give it a 5.5, as they had me on the edge of my seat.

I'll agree that most of the episodes were pretty lame but i still think this season was at least okay.

And that's somewhat of achievement because S2-S7 have all been pretty bad. Usually i watch news season to see how much shittier the series can get.

I wonder what the hell happened between S1 and S2.

The episode itself was fine, possibly even my favourite of the bunch. There was nothing I thought detracted from it, and I think the ending was pretty well-done. Kido did seem more creepy than the sleeptalking, and so it wasn't much surprised that they connected together, but I thought the thing with the picture worked as a good concluding note.

That said, this is the worst season in a good while. Seasons 5-7 were all stronger than this one. This is the most bland season of all of Yami Shibai tbh. I don't think any episode here comes close to the best, but on the other hand, none of them quite get as bad as the worst. There are certainly obviously writing/directing stumbles throughout, but I don't think anything as egregious as 3's monster design focus or 4's over-reliance on narration. Even the worst episodes of seasons 5-7 feel significantly worse than anything in Season 8.

4/10 for me, though I did consider a 3/10. For Seasons 1-4, my ratings had gotten progressively worse. For seasons 6-8, my ratings had gotten progressively worse. Will Season 9 continue the trend or will it be the next trend bucker like season 5 and be an improvement. I don't have much faith in the latter, but if nothing else, I hope it's more interesting next time.

Yet another lackluster season. :/

Season 1 and 6 have been the only decent ones in my book.

This episode was garbage and now I don't know whether I hate this episode more or that episode about workaholic people.
Anyway, this season was kinda mixed, I feel like the first 8 episodes are good with episode 2 being a masterpiece and then from episode 9 onwards it's just one bad episode after another.

So far seasons ranked IMO 1>5>6>2>4>7>8>3

Ngl, this was a bit of a weak finale imo, I think the setup was good and unsettling with the dude being told he’s sleepwalking and then setting up a camera to capture the night activities, but then the episode ended in a really confusing way. So his friend disappeared from the photo, then told the dude he’s next, and then he disappeared also, because he was sleepwalking? What? I guess the idea is that it’s rooted to letting go of the past and I like the theme there (if I’m getting that right) but the execution imo was just unsatisfying and like I already said, kinda confusing.

Yeah I think I’m with some others here that this was overall a weaker season, the first one I’ve given a 6/10 since Season 4, and that’s above average to me, not the worst of scores, because like all of Yamishibai this series is easy to watch and fun even if the episodes aren’t great, but that still puts it lower than most of the seasons for me, and I think that’s because a lot of the stories in this one relied on “tell don’t show”, which for some episodes it worked but others just left you feeling blue balled, a shame too because a lot of them had good setups but just fumbled the endings. That being said, as always I had my favorite episodes of the season, they were “Death Day”, “Don’t Look Back”, “Catch of the Day”, “Viewing”, and “Footprints in the Snow”. I also liked the ED a lot this season, it was another chill one which kinda conflicts with the spooky vibe but I think it contrasts nicely.
