THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
I was not expecting ninja cats to show up in this show. I mean, I guess it's possible but didn't expect it lol

Thought this episode is kinda amusing. Kozakura is also back with a cute little animal friend in her hands. Seto is also someone worth to keep an eye on. Not sure how much they can trust her but she doesn't seem like a bad person.

Cats of the hidden leaf(Ninja Cats) attacked Araki, Sorao's junior. Kozakura was back in this episode. She's honestly the cutest of them all and most likable. What's the mystery behind the lucky charm and Araki's tutor who's related to Toriko? Maybe we'll know next time.

Ninja cats lmao, the whole premise of today’s ep was hilarious. The AP-1 tobacco machine was hilarious as well. Was uruma in an earlier episode or do we just not know her yet? I may have missed the name earlier on in the season.

Also still wondering about the US marines who were in the ura sekai.

Great episode as things are tended to get more tense. The real question is how can they afford a blooming forklift? Are they made of money? Jokes aside we get a reality check in this episode that jerks us back from the playful reality it was showing, the urasekai can and will kill you and people that they know have gone missing, presumably dead. Great episode on the whole

Arc 7: Attack of the Ninja Cats

When there's a new character, she always comes off as eccentric, as is the case with Sorawo's juniorL 1st Year Akari Seto, being under attack by ninja cats based on folklore.

Of course, having known about the past episodes of the Otherside, this is a different Otherside case altogether. LELS Toriko and Sorawo disillusioned by buying that tobacco machine, which is in fact to be used on the Otherside in time of help and need.

Another creepypasta of ninja cats afloating around Akari, and the time parallel shift into the Otherside in the same setting and veins as the Space-Time Man. The reality check of Akari almost converting into a ninja cat from a standard neko good-luck charm, it's the small things that entice.

The dots are beginning to intertwine...and reality sets in for Toriko, especially when it comes to anything Satsuki-related.

Another bizarre case, but a simple episode that's still as good as the others preceding it.

Ninja cats lol, this time it wasn't creepy but it was a fun episode. Seto vs ninja cat combat scene was great. I like her character so hope we see her again.

The reveal at the end was nice. So it was all tied to Satsuki, wonder what really happened to her.

That "The Shining" reference caught me off guard. Also of all the weird things that exist in the otherside, ninja cats were the last thing I would have expected. They seem out of place compared to the other weird creatures we've seen so far.

A Ninja cats attack? That was sure weird, especially with that cat city... but seems like the attack was because of the souvenir Satsuki gave to that girl, it's interesting, maybe now they'll find more info about what happened to her

Ninja cats huh thats quite the thought. Still thats quite the surprise delivery that Kozakura had there. A secret gathering of cats though was quite the sight to see late at night. Guess being on the receiving end of ninja cats made Akari learn martial arts then. Just like the famed ninja though the cats sure are fast. Curious how the sign that the ninja was looking for was such a insignificant object. Still the originator of that charm sure was someone that was known to them and dear to Toriko. Overall a pretty fun ep that while doing well in showcasing the character of Akari featured a good combination of tension and weirdness that the show is famed for. Seems that things are starting to go full circle with Satsuki being brought back to the forefront.

I expected Toriko and Sorao to turn into catgirls after entering that room... my disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

The cat ninjas were funny. Toriko's expression and the music in the last scene scared me, it looks like the next episode's going to be good.

After this episode, I think I’m gonna drop this anime. It never really capitalized on the horror aspects and potential that the Otherside provided. I still don’t care for the characters and the way the stories/plots are presented is a mess. I still do like the music and the direction on occasion, but it hasn’t lived up to what I thought it could be and I don’t enjoy watching it anymore.

So a new girl, being attacked by cats. Not just any cats, but Ninja Cats... Honestly the point where she acted weird I was like, yeah she done for. Maybe she'll become part of the team after that ending.

Decent episode, less scary this time around as well.

So the girls bought the tobacco harvester machine during one of their drunken evenings... I guess that they forgot what happened to the Marine's "mule" in the Otherside.

And was Satsuki a "recruiter" for the Otherside? Why was she getting so many people involved in it?

This ep was great. Freaking ninja cats vs. karate kouhai!

Kozakura's "tanuki" scene was adorable. *pout*

Drunkenly buying the farm equipment was funny. Them not regretting it and actually trying to think of a way to use it instead of returning it was low key hilarious. Just imagine them driving this stupid, loud as hell machine through the Otherside...

They went to Cafe Pause (Paws)...

The way kouhai was showing them pictures of normal cats when trying to explain the ninja cats, as if that's what she was talking about, and then suddenly actual freaking ninja cats...

The cat "Here's Johnny!"ing them in the back room of the cafe...

Sorawo getting mega jealous when Toriko wanted to include kouhai as a "partner in crime"...

Sorawo being all QQ when she realizes they're actually just cats but then having steel nerves when they have to pull the charm out of kouhai while Toriko was all steel nerves when it came to the cats but got all QQ when she had to pull the charm out... "R- Roger!", lol.

A more lighthearted episode overall compared to what we’ve gotten so far, but I liked it, a lot of funny bits with Kozakura’s tanuki and the tobacco harvester, and I really liked the Toriko cat bit after the ED, cute stuff. Karate girl is cool, wouldn’t mind her being a reoccurring character, the animation when she was fighting the ninja cats was pretty good imo.

Idk man I feel like the show turned into a pile of Dog Shit...or in this case Cat Shit. You introduce a new character 8 episodes in, no say in how they got back home from Okinawa, no follow up from last week, and there's just nothing being mentioned about the Phone call that Kozakura heard or the fact that an entire ARMY Squad was trapped on the other side.

It's just silly at this point imo.

Yeah, finally the last girl, Akari, the karateka, introduced after such a long time. This episode kinda supposed to be the event after the space-time man part by having that phenomenon in the first place, i guess. Especially with how different the start of the episode compared to the previous episode. So, yeah, even though the flow kinda messed up a bit for me, and the fight scene dissapointed me much. The ninja cats design were also so hilarious. But its okay since, Sorao already blurted it out her wish to Toriko about Akari. Lol. In the end, its making Toriko lost friend mystery at the Otherside got more deeper than i can anticipated. Its not even a surprise if the last boss they should've fight is her, in the end of the day. Lets see whats next....

It's been silly ever since episode 1. Just look at the end of the OP where they do a Scooby Doo run down a spiral staircase and a stereotypical cartoon "shocked" expression at the bottom. They've done that sort of Scooby Doo silliness mid-episode a few times, as well. I dunno why some people expected this show to be srsbsns. It's supposed to be fun. I mean, two episodes ago was loosely based on IRL creepypasta, for crying out loud.

It was a pretty good episode, I'd say it's my favorite so far. It gave us a fun episode while also moving the plot with Satsuki.

Kozakura hugging that "tanuki" was adorable, I hope Akari becomes a supporting character like Kozakura and not just vanish then never see her again. Looking forward to the next episode.

This episode is one of the more likable ones of Urasekai so far, not so bad but not that great either. It's a lukewarm at worst.

We have Ninja Cats this episode, as we meet our final character (probably) of the series, Akari Seto. And hey she's voiced by one of my faves, Miyu Tomita. Overall this episode really had some heavy A Whisker Away with a bit of Naruto vibes, that's a combination I do not expect coming, and for Urasekai of all shows. And the way they entered the Cat world is similar to what happened in A Whisker- [spoilers]

Anyways, they managed to defeat the enemy without killing, hurting, or escaping from it. Which is pretty damn nice since Sorao loves cats. Aww and when those bunch of white cats swarmed into them, I thought that this is Neko Heaven.

We now have a karate sidekick and another student of the mysterious "Satsuki Uruma". Interesting note to end this decently good episode.

They actually changed a line so that it made sense in the shuffle of the story lines! *gasp*

So, they really cut a lot out of this, which makes this seem even cheesier, but to be perfectly honest, this story arc is kinda dumb anyways, no mater the source.

Kozakura still being best girl, though.

Now, time for me to submit my weekly edit of Sorawo's name on her character page, because they changed it to the misspelling Funimation originally went with, and despite Funimation changing it on all the subtitles to the correct spelling, it still hasn't changed back, lol.

Uruma Satsuki is Toriko's tutor/friend that she has been searching for in the other side.

Sick. I mean this is new. The manga hasn't hit this arc yet but it's doing fine. Isn't a tobacco maker illegal? And where did all those bullets come from? Toriko didn't reload once and she was basically spamming. No CG again! Yay! But I'm more concerned about this space time man world. Wtf even is that place.

Every story in Urasekai is based on a creepypasta or something similar, the author literally crediting 2channel threads for inspiration in the afterword. Which didn't stop the LN from being a seriously screwed-up horror stuff.

Even the Nyar... Ninja Cats story was actually rather creepy in the original, despite sorta being a self-aware shitpost at the same time. The "cats stalking" part in particular, which seems to have went over Liden's head completely.

That's only a problem if you run it into a glitch. Between bolt chucking and Sorawo's eye, there's no reason for that to happen.

It was creepy in the novel because the cats were following them for the whole day (or more?) The anime really doesn't have the time to build the creepy atmosphere that way, because they only had 12 episodes to cover everything they're trying to cover (looks like the first 3 volumes). Probably less going over anybody's head, and more trying to adapt too much in too little time (and with too few resources).

They had more than enough time for that (it wasn't even all that long in the novel), but decided to go all out on that ridiculous fight scene instead. Which is in line with Liden's clear lack of understanding what to do with the source material, which they seem to be handling like a lighthearted adventure story for the most part - and this is indeed the impression plenty of people are getting from this series.
