Sonoka is injured but she's still in good support thanks to the support of her comrades.

Kind of a slow episode but from this point, Sonoka should be careful about her future. Life and death is always a risk when fighting in the air. A bit of a slower episode but I'm okay with it.

After a 15 minute send off for Amatsuka and weeks of death flags, it couldn’t have been more obvious that she wasn’t coming back. Still, pretty sad πŸ˜” Unfortunately, I think this’ll be the first of several sad deaths in this show over the final stretch.

Odin’s comment to Okita about “when we’re in vahalla” pretty much confirms what I’ve been suspecting since the start, he’s up to no good and manipulating the humans to do his bidding.

I think next week we’ll start seeing the Tappei style dark twists. Can’t wait. This show continues to be what I look forward to most every week.

Great episode but damn that was brutal. "Thor" absolutely decimated humanity's attempt to attack the pillar.

Amatsuka. T.T
It was a pretty big death flag but I was still hoping she'd pull off a miracle and survive but of course it was never going to happen. Not against the pillars who are far stronger than what humanity can muster at the moment. :(

Really like the part where Claudia and the other saw off Amatsuka and her battalion.

Sonoka crying both when Amatsuka shared her final moment with her and at the very end hit really hard.

RIP Amatsuka. The death flag was strong. Poor Sonoka. :(
Now I wonder how they will defeat the pillar. Thor destroyed humanity's hope.

Damm to think that the pillars will bring back the hero wings of deceased Valkyria's back to life as enemies. Fighting someone that you know personally as a comrade now reborn as an enemy sure was a cruel move on the pillars part. Given the odds arrayed against them retreat was the only avenue open to them. Thor though really proved to be quite the foe for them though completely overwhelming. But the cost for the op sure was grave with almost all of their forces and command wiped clear. Claudia especially lost another dear friend to the pillars as well thanks to damm Thor. Considering her default nature its rare to see Sonaka so fragile in her injured state though but this battle proved that despite their victories so far the pillars can easily flip the ride easily. Despite their differences its nice to see Sonaka make peace with Yayoi. The wishes that Claudia and co paid to Yayoi and her team sure was warm and Yayoi's subsequent scene sure was cool. Overall an excellent ep that combined excellent combat with a rare sense of grimness and despair that came from suffering not only a major defeat but also losing countless friends and comrades as well. This ep sure did well in changing phases to a more serious nature as benefitting the desire by humanity to retake their world.

Damn what a killer episode. The Valkyries chances are set back to square one as the pillars had striked back in far greater numbers. The generals and even Odin are gone. And after an obvious death flag, Amatsuka onee-chan is DEAD. Huhu and I was just beginning to like her, and what is really sad is that only one pilot managed to escape the pillar. When Sonoka opened the locket, it was a punch I could have never asked for but damn it hit strong for me.

If this anime attempts for a depresso ending...I am ready but damn this will be awfully hard to digest (in a sad way). There might be losses but always hope for the better.

Well that was kinda sad. RIP.

Seems like this episode further adds that Odin acts more like an enemy to the humans. I only wonder what more he will do to sabotage the group in the next few episodes.

Goodbye Amatsuka. You could not resist the death flag sadly. Well someone was left heart broken today and that is Sonoka. I wonder what's in store for the team next.

OK episode :/

Well after last week's death flags, this really didn't come as a surprise. RIP Amatsuka.

That Thor though, I thought that whole base got wiped out, glad to see it was only a portion and that the commander was already evacuated from there.

Odin is hella sus though..

The people who tought this was a good idea are just dumb, trust in a self-proclaimed god that doesn't provide any trust is like trust in the most corrupted politician in the world, how this operation can be succesuful?

Sonoka... Oh lord, you are also dumb, why you did that? Im not blaming her but maybe if it wasnt for her stupid action we may didn't lose the other Valkyries. The law of Murphy in is pure state.

I hope the characters learn about this. Now it seems we only have our main cast alive.

Sure we'll see her as a black plane and I'm sure they'll find some way to convert them all back to life. I'm calling that as the ending now. Pillars destroyed, everyone alive and well, no more Grim Reaper, now life bringer...person...thing.

It has a bad ending. The events which make main characters maturer are never fighting with enemies but the death of partners.Death flags made me nervous and finally she still lost her life. Are DEATH FLAGS really so effective? ? ? :(

Humans have lost lots of combat effectiveness in this war.Responsibility of beating the pillars to save the world has been on Claudia and her companions' shoulders.Hope Sonoka can be out of sorrow soon.

Amatsuka was waving the death flag pretty epically this episode. It's sad that she's not going to come back. Was Leyli the other European S-ranked pilot? Now I want to know out of all the Valkyries we've seen, how many are left. The episode made it look like Tateyama is the only unit left.

DAMN the death flags this week WERE PRETTY STRONG. First Fire Force, and now this. Tappei Nagatsuki bringing his "death flag" A-game as props.

The fallen Valkyries being the enemies of the Pillar, guess that wasn't a surprise given how much Odin has brought his "time of Ragnarok, of Thor and Valhalla" ever closer. Man, to trust in a self-proclaiming god that's full of sus, these people have known fear, but definitely have not known death. This was a mission SET UP FOR FAILURE.

But truth be told, as if last episode's foreshadowing wasn't enough damage, only the Tateyama forces being the only survivors left sure is evident enough for a mass-scale operation. Sonoka being kept in the dark from Yayoi because of shock factors, and her death to boot, looks like this easily-emotional girl will not be out of her sorrows anytime soon.

As much as this is a depressing episode, this felt like the beginning of the set-up for the 2nd half of Tappei's true writing abilities. An OK episode, but looking forward to see what this'll bring to the table.

Fuck, I thought we were gonna get Amatsuka's status next week but, they straight up ended the episode with her death T_T. Those good luck scenes to Amatsuka just smelled death, fuck.

There's no way Odin is dead, though I also doubt the commander is dead. Odin might have protected them I don't know, on second thought Odin did say that he'll find out in Valhalla so he might really be dead, fuck. Well at least maybe he will be able to see his daughter Sakura in Valhalla at least that is what they implied that Sakura is the commander's daughter.

Looking forward to the next episode... for more suffering...

Seriously, why is this show still scored below 7 on MAL? It didn't even place on top 10 weekly reviews on any listings ever!? I mean, DUDE, even Mahouka Koukou no Rettosei and some trashes like Kimisen and Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear sometimes get their place somewhere on those lists.

EDIT: Wait, is it because those chimps still think this is from some Gacha Games like CanColle or sth!?
Seriously, Akudama Drive is the most underatted anime this season!? THIS IS the most underatted anime this season! (No offense to Akudama Drive fan since I'm also a big fan of Akudama Drive, but still, with all due respect, it still has more people rating it fairly than this)

Claudia really became a grim reaper again on these episode.

Hah! I am glad that i post-poned this a bit. Because the feeling was just too hard for me to handle. Everyone from the Pillar attacks, possibly KIA in the Pillar realm. Except those four main, and one girl (injured badly), that were still given the chance to live to tell the tale. Yeah, its a yes, possibly, Amakusa including too at the lost group. Unfortunately the scene was just unsatisfying, so much skipping. No bloody outcome made me feel uneasy about the real fact of them. But that green beam was just beautifully done. I feel bad for those general, and Odin. But why not Satomi? Oh, yes, plot armor was so thick XD.

Well, idk about the next that looks like become the usual comedy thingy again. Seriously they reverted it after these event? How could they even relaxed after what happened lately? I don't even know about Odin's status too. Was he really wiped out there? Oh, man, idk what should i say. Rather, its just really a mess, and i can't tell anything rather just a complete sorrow. Just kidding, its surely funny. How this might turned out lighter flying girl with a war tension. But suddenly the storm hits in the right place. Okay, Tappei, you did a nice job writing these little show....

Edit: adjusting some of my wrong grammar.

Ehh what?? So they apparently sent several girls to the rescue operation, including Amatsuka, only to save a grand total of ONE? Talk about waste of resources.

I agree, that seems very likely, it was pretty suspicious from the point when he only mentioned answering the commander's question in Valhalla.

The supposedly dead people being "alive" and coming back as an enemy also reminds me a lot of Qualidea Code.

What right does Warlords of Sigrdrifa have to become awesome of all sudden!? The dramatic tension and the emotional stakes reach an all-time high with this episode. The counteroffensive fails and our heroes are in full retreat and the best thing they can do now is survive and attempt to figure out what to do next. We get a small moment of reconciliation between Sonoka and Amatsuka, which unfortunately serves to make the final scene of the episode much more tragic and poignant. I've never believed that a story becomes automatically better if it becomes darker and grittier, but I think Warlords of Sigrdrifa made the right call by focusing on the bitter reality of warfare and I hope it can maintain this upturn in quality as it moves forward.

ending would've sunk in more if there weren't death flags through the roof for her i was seriously expecting her to make it back as the twist

understand leaving no one left behind but the outcome of only one person vs how many (i don't actually know )went to rescue seems like a tragic waste

I'm simply sad that Amatsuka is gone, not because the execution was good. At least with her out of the picture I will be able to focus on the dialogue.

But seriously, there were almost as many flags as ass shots of her. Way too much for a frankly speaking minor character.

Still F to her and the sqad.
