THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Heh, Food Wars is back and they didn't get time into the food battles with pork cutlet. Souma also faced off against a formidable rival this episode. Oh and there's Megumi and the others still preparing for their own future. Also more background storytelling and buildup this episode. I feel like Food Wars made a neat return and hopefully doesn't get delayed again. |

they made some changes but not huge changes in this episode but the main question r they going to make some changes in the BLUE in order (events): 1. villain out of nowhere that is too op and annoying and able to defeat jouichiro 5-0 ( jouichiro MUST be the final boss (obstacle) that souma have to face but what we got was the new OP annoying villian). 2. the villain makes soma look like a trash in a trashcan in the first challenge. 3. the villain made proper advances towards Erina and wants to MARRY HER her and actually put his hands on her before.Soma hasn't even come close to doing the same (the villain keep flirting with erina and has more moments with erina (he carried her while she was unconscious, spending time with her in the office having some tea bring her roses bouquet). Beach arc: 4. the villain kidnapped erina and released her later and she didn't took any action like sue him or put him under arrest for what he did !?. Final arc BLUE: 5. evil dark chefs mafia and clowns and cooking with some kind of a weapon (making whipped cream with CHAINSAW and baking with Dynamite and more). 6. yuki morosaki went on maternity leave around this arc (Morisaki is the brains of all the recipes used in the series. The series officially lists her as a "collaborator"). 7. the villian also defeated both 3-0 eishi and megumi without analyze or describe the dishes just straight up results. 8. the villain has one of superpower BS (the ability to gain the chef's skill when he takes their main chef tool,an example is if he takes saibas knife he gains all his years of experience as a chef and adds it to his skill). 9. did erina do something useful in the BLUE ? no , nothing. 10. removed 70% of cooking from the manga (entire cooking sequences skipped meaning showing only results). 11. the usage of the characters are not that emphasize so much compared to previous arcs.the story just revolves on the protag and the antag. 12. rushed (because too many people dropped it in the BLUE and the sales of the manga wasn't going very well (sales: vol.31 (280740) - vol.35 (178355)),it got axed). 13. Erina's mother finally who's the judge in BLUE. She's even colder than Azami towards Erina and she doesn't accept her food . 14. dealing with nakiri's issues and their drama again. 15. erina's character regressed why? just because the villain changed her mood ! what is the point of building character development ? (took takumi's dish and threw it in the TRASHCAN, didn't TRUST souma and want souma to LOSE against the villain in the blue tournament , finally when souma won against the annoying villain asahi , erina wasn't happy or satisfied when souma won, she was in shock, she didn't even talk to him after he won.). moved from shonen Jump (weekly) to GIGA (monthly) just to give the author more time to think and to finish the manga and come up with a good closure and they give him only 3 final chapters of le dessert (final vol 36): 16. ( CH 315, 315,1 ) i consider it the WORST PART: ( Ch 315 ) souma wants to comfort her by giving her his dish , erina ate it and woke up from her nightmare and destroyed half of the kitchen instead ripping cloth or getting nude ( foodgasm ) and says disgusting !? instead of delicious, now she is back to her senses and ready to challenge souma , ( Ch 315.1 ) she WON the blue tournament just like that by showing only results !!!? so who is the protagonist again of this series souma or erina ??? soma traveled when he lost to erina in the blue tournament because of his mood. 17. (CH 315.2) the author be like: i can fix that (which was unnecessary), all of sudden it turns out that the annoying villain which is out of nowhere is actually HALF BROTHER ,the one who WANTS TO MARRY ERINA HIS SISTER !!? they just discovered long lost brother and he didnt even knew that . just to undone the NTR , end of my shokugeki no souma NTR rant. let's forgive asahi's actions because his backstory was tragic and forget everything like nothing happened and move on like any other shonen we must forgive and sympathize with the villian in the end. 18. (CH 315.3) WORST PLOT TWIST that nobody likes it or cares about it: the annoying villain incest asahi half brother became a part of the family with more screen time and better ending than souma in 2 last chapters . 19. (CH 315.3) souma finally appeared in the final chapter (he didnt appeared in the previous chapters), and yet AGAIN the author keep showing us HINTS AGAIN and the author decided to make some progress souma x erina in the epilogue!? which u didn't have time to make progress when u r at the final stage epilogue instead of ending up together they skipped 8 YEARS not 3 or 4 but 8 YEARS and showing us in ambiguous way that they begin to realize their feeling using inner monologue instead of verbally speaking. 20. not even showing souma's new skills after what he learned from traveling or the dish that he's about to serve in the end instead we got disgusting food like really !? not even a scene were erina says delicious to souma simple objective of the series or even a shokugeki with erina or his dad !? in the end we got nothing. 21. open ended cliffhanger without a proper closure, both in terms of cooking and romantic relationship. (The End) . (ch 315.2) we only got little backstory about souma's mother. the only interesting thing in (le dessert) was the backstory of souma's mother . (Shokugeki No souma TO Shokugeki No Nakiri) with all nakiri family members including asahi sit down together and enjoy their meal, Happily ever after. (blue arc and le dessert): was all about erinas mother, father, half brother and grandfather even the cover of the manga speak it self vol 34,35 missing objectives: 1. souma: i will make you say delicious ? we knew erina like his dishes and looking forward to it and she did say delicious BUT indirectly to joichiro and hisako and the huge problem was she's still tsundere even souma told her and she NEVER said delicious to souma directly (a scene) (simple objective) 2. souma: i will run the restaurant after the graduation ? keep travelling instead of running his restaurant 3. taste of love (Manga ch 52.5) ? erina still didn't taste it because souma keep travelling for 8 years and she misses him but they will in the future ( off screen ) because after 8 years souma just realized his feeling 4. souma: i will surpass my father ? author: but through asahi of course !? about the BLUE arc were too many people dropped the manga when asahi appeared: when asahi beats jouichiro 5-0 people dropped it when asahi keep flirting with erina and carried her people dropped it when they saw mafia and clowns cooking with weapons people dropped it when they saw Chainsaw and baking with Dynamite people dropped it when they saw asahi with superpower people dropped it and finally when they saw souma lost to erina people dropped it in the interview: 1. he added the villain to make progress between (souma x erina)? what progress ?? more like character regression 2. he said “Soma has all these cute girls around him, and all he cares about is cooking—why can’t he act more like Asahi?” is Tsukuda seriously trying to justify the criminal Asahi's existence as something that Soma should be?? the sales of the manga wasn't going very well. so it got axed take a close look at the chart ((VOL 31 - 35 : season 5: final season (the new guy who appeared in the end of the episode)) tell me does it look fine ? |

They did make some changes in this episode. Like wow. That saying was suppose to be said by Siaba Asahi himself. But if anything. This is wher why people are very unhappy with this arc alone and why many people dropped it. Which I can understand. |

It's FINALLY back haha, but it doesn't sound very good for the next episodes, that villain definitely sucks, he's just a rapist, I don't know how can he think that it's a good idea to force someone into a wedding... but anyway i'm sure they'll beat him. |

Damn, this was one speedy episode! I doubt things will be getting any slower from here on so I'm just hoping they won't be getting any faster than this, had a hard enough time switching gears constantly from this episode alone. Erina-ojousama totally falling for Asahi-sensei's bait was a big face-palm, it's just like her xD. Only second to Souma, I suppose. Prestige of Totsuki v forced Bride, can't say it's the smartest of moves personally. Joichirou-san's sudden appearance definitely surprised me too. I figured he'd be more bummed out by this but good to see not. Train Souma well, sir. And teach how to fall in love while at it, lol. Finally some reference to Tamako-san too, it has truly been coming for a long time! By the way, the leader of the Gourmet Foundation (or whatevs it was) related to Erina? Interesting... Tadokoro and Aldini getting a few seconds of prep screen-time was really nice too. No comments on Asahi in particular, to be honest. I spoiled myself a fair bit on him in advance but the buildup with the usage of soundtrack (which is glorious all the time) and the dual revelations from Joichirou-san and Dojima-san. I got to say the "Shokugeki" part in the title might well be invalid now since they'll be away from Totsuki territory now, no? Whatever the case, I'm super glad this is back! Here's to hoping there'll be no more delays from here on to the very end (most likely one cour worth, anyway). phantomfandom said: They almost speak as fast as Saiki Kusuo. Found it extremely strange too. I get that they're trying to adapt things really fast but that's almost uncharted territory for such a show, lol. Need for Speed time. |

The visuals in here continue to be sadly stiff and jarring, imho. Tbf, though, it's not the only issue I have with this season. Starting back from s3, I've began to have major qualms about the course of the story, especially with how the adaptation's batshit pacing throws off a lot of scenes or even seems like it just straight up cuts major parts out. I'm not really that far into the manga, but hearing about how the last arc of this series is probably the worst, it's safe to say I don't feel really good about how this shit will wrap up, especially since it looks like even the staff is starting to give up trying to adapt such a mediocre story now that has lost its touch with the initial novelty (which, tbf, was already a thing from Chuuka Ichiban and Yakitate Japan). I've started to care even less and less about the particular details now. This new antagonist Asahi makes my experience even more aggravating. While I doubt this is how he's accurately portrayed, he comes off as that kind of "casually over-conceited" bad guy that I just loathe...hopefully that's not entirely the case, but it's not a good impression even then. |

Even as a mainly CGDCT/slice of life watcher, I am quite happy that Food Wars is back. One of the most from other categories I enjoyed. Tbh Asahi doesn't sound like a really bad villain for me even if he is active in the unterground scene. But still deciding a wedding with a cooking duel is a little bit too far...but I mean basically everything is decided with cooking here so no big surprise. Really looking forward to see the BLUE battles, I haven't read the manga so I have no idea how it will turn out but the good side will always win! So and I am hungry now seeing all those delicious food again (even with the "white sauce") |

In normal circumstances I would say, "Glad that Shokugeki no Souma is back"... but meh, Suzuki-sensei or Asahi, is a real sore to the eyes. Maybe I could have done without the return of this season XD I guess I could look at it this way, I am glad Megumi is back!! Megumi was the one who stole the episode again! Well, Shokugeki no Souma returns after a long break, and, like I expected, Souma lost. We are also introduced to the Noir (that is some organization of cooks working for criminals) and it turns out Suzuki is in truth a former disciple of Souma's dad who wants Erina for him. Tbh I can see why manga readers didn't like this arc. The NTR stuff with Asahi and Erina is already questionable, but that thing of the underworld chefs wearing KKK hoods and being a threat to the world of cooking is... very ridiculous. The plot with Azami during the seasons 3-4 was already over the top (even for the standards of the series), but this may be too much. Oh, well, let's see how bad this can get. I at least liked the interactions of Souma with his father. They were funny and the scene where Jouichirou tells Souma that the thing that makes a good chef is having someone to cook for (alluding to his wife) was sweet. |

Man, after a long time , it's back. So Saiba Asahi aka Suzuki is the head of Nior, a group of rebellious chefs and he's the only who has beaten Yukimura's otosan. Ok so them Nior shits just appeared in Erina;s bedroom , man doesn't Erina's home had any security??? IDK about you guys but this 5th plate is getting way too overrated. |

Yay food wars is back! This episode was pretty good. We finally got to see Soma fight a strong opponent. Its still pretty early in this season so it was more of a buildup episode toward the BLUEs. I'm excited to see the next episode and to see if Soma takes what his dad told him about cooking for another person to heart. |

Those Noir guys remind me of those witch cult from Re:Zero. Now all we need is for Asahi/Suzuki-sensei to bite his nails. Anyways. Food Wars is back and Souma lost. I liked Souma's and Jouichirou's interactions. We got to learn a bit about Souma's mother. |

This show really tries to explore what can/can't be perceived as animation. It's embarrassing how awful this show is visually and the writing is not much better. Fast-pacing aside the characters are so boring. Erina had her character development in the previous season but the others haven't had any for like three seasons. They've been so 1-dimensional this season and it bores me to death. The new villain is too op and his motivation for wanting to marry Erina is shallow. I also hated how Souma's dad lost to him off-screen. The Noir guys look like what edgy teenagers would find cool but in my eyes just look stupid. As much as it pains me I will watch this garbage to the end. |

The cringiest season till now. The edgy pale slenderman chef declared his love for Erina, and of course, we have Erina, like the stupid idiot she is agreeing with the KKK leader. The dude just asked for her hand in marriage, but it turns out she gave it as little thought as she can give, she is deluded, stupid and doesn't deserve Soma. By far, the worst season ever. 3 episodes are enough to tell. I was expecting Soma to go full Sasuke mode, you know, the "I will get revenge" mode. But nah, Soma is still Soma. I swear to god, if they pull some BS at the finale, BS like Soma and Asahi had a close battle, Soma won, but lost against Takumi or Megumi or Erina, I'm gonna freak out. Soma deserves the win, he is the strongest chef. If they pull some "Power of friendship, who wins doesn't matter" shit I'll hunt them down. Everything about this season is just wrong, it feels wrong. When did this whole shit turn into a Food Mafia? What the fuck? |

The train wreck final season of Soma has finally returned and I'm reminded of why this was probably the only delay I didn't really mind...then again, if it wasn't delayed the season would be over and out of our lives by now. Anyway, the show continues to speed through the final arc, making tons of changes along the way. I still can't get over how this lame sorry excuse of an antagonist was forcefully shoehorned into this final arc for no reason. It would have been so much better to just have a normal competition without these Noir chefs. |

How many times are we gonna have Souma lose, just for the winner to not follow through with their win condition? It happened with Shinomiya. It happened with Tsukasa, and it's happening again here. |

now that this is back, boy was this already a chore to go through. this final season will be super rough! like with Azami’s shtick, Noir’s deal is also dumb as hell |

They managed to find a source of conflict less intelligent that Azami. At least Azami was motivated by differences of opinion in how the world of gourmet food should interact with the world at large. If he wasn't comically evil, it could have been interesting. Saiba is just an idiot. Once again, the perception that a story needs epic conflict to be good ruins yet another decent story. |
Every day you can read a book or watch some anime is a good day! |

That end-card was the Takumi x Megumi validation that I didn’t know I needed in my life. |

So Saiba Asahi is Jouichiro's student, does feel like they through him in outta nowhere with almost no build up but it is what it is I guess. Sounds like he'll give Souma a run for his money, which I'm looking forward to see how it'll playout. I know most manga readers claim this as the worst arc of the series, I'm curious what about it makes it so bad, I'll watch and find out I suppose. |
