THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Well, at least Myne is starting to gain respect of some of the people she's working with now, most specifically Fran.

Others like Delia aren't that easy to get along with. Gil has his own blushing moments this episode which I find kinda amusing. Myne's inner imaginations are still a continous running gag.

Ah nothing better to end a long afternoon of anime on Saturday with than Bookworm.

Damnn, Lutz doesn’t play around with his girl at all. He was ready to beat Gil’s ass for grabbing Maine.

I can’t look at Gil without seeing Boruto lol

Aw, he reminds me of one of those kids in school who acts out due to a lack of attention and praise at home. Deep down he’s a really nice kid, just has emotional issues

Lmaoo delia trying to pimp herself out to Benno, I’m dead af. He basically said begone thot

Yet another excellent episode. We got to see some great character development and growth from Delia and Gil. Both of them had underlying self worth issues and they both started on the path to improvement today thanks to Maine. What I love most about this show is how it does the little things so well and doesn’t try to be too overly ambitious like most Isekai.

Don’t get me wrong, isekai is my fave genre but it’s nice to see a show that isn’t focused on defeating a demon lord or saving the world, but on a character driven narrative with great world building.

See y’all next week, stay safe and blessed

Maine seems to enjoy her upper class status and treat what's around her as servant. Which is quite disappoint consider that she's from modern world where all human are equal.

Myne was finally able to win over both Gil and Delia.

I see Benno is still keeping the handsome look.

I still don't trust that Delia girl. I think she would betray Myne at the first chance. I hope I'm wrong but I'll keep my eyes open. Gil on the other hand turned out to be such a nice boy!

I was wondering how she would handle Gil and Delia... Gil was actually a touching moment because Main realized it was partly her mistake that Gil didn't get any food at all and he just wanted someone to thank and appreciate him. That 180-turn to Delia was fun too!
Delia was quite fast.. Hoped for something longer but this is alright I guess.

I was worried that the books were just gonna cause her to lose any other sense. But this episode and the previous one, shows that she's learning to adapt to the lifestyle, instead of being focused on books alone. She's really doing well.

I pretty much had a very good time with the 1st season of the show, but the place where the story is going does not enthralls me that much. I think I strongly dislike what's going on between Main and her retainers aka slaves. I know it's supposed to be adaptation to another world, with its own social rules and stuff, but it's still bothersome.

Funny Crunchyroll spells her name Myne in articles. Solid episode but I really hate that "those who don't work, don't eat" quote. It basically means people too sick to work should just starve to death. No church should push that message

That last scene gave me certain vibes. Dark vibes. I don't know what that was about, but it was rather ominous. Is this series gonna take a dark turn? Or am I just reading too much in to that scene. Could there be a secret about this church? I mean knowing how the High Priest is, I wouldn't be surprised.

Finally I see big, big changes! I couldn't stand watching those brats treating Myne like crap anymore!

I've suspected all along those were fake tears the first, and the second try real tears -w-; Hahaha nice try Dalia, that charm move doesn't work with mister Benno XD I shouldn't trust her yet. I feel like this isn't over...

Nice episode! Seriously, if it wasn't for Myne's kindness, I don't know that might happen! Hope those two retainers will be more grateful from now on.

Main's pretty quick to nail down what her retainers need from her. My guess is she's read quite a few novels where the hero has to befriend rivals, etc.

Didn't expect her to win over Gil and Delia in the same episode. Now that they're not being absolute brats and can see that Main genuinely wants to help them they're much more tolerable. Delia being thrown out by that priest was inevitable though, so I'm not surprised by that development. Typical scum that sees the retainers as expendable slaves. Is he mad about them getting the office because of the oven? Or is there something else in there he doesn't want them to find?

That pizza eating at the end was so creepy though...

I find myself always looking forward to Sunday morning because of this (and Kaguya-sama, Arte, and Yesterday wo Utatte). So I hope this series will not join the victims of postponement.

You're misconstruing this... take those with disabilities out this, we don't know for sure what system they have for the sick. There is truth to this quote that correlates with the real world we live in. If you choose to just sit on your ass expecting to get something for doing nothing you will absolutely get nothing.

They're not "slaves." They're more like butlers or maids that can be "fired" from their position (job) if they fail to fulfill their duties. They voluntarily join the church. Slaves were taken against their will and worked to death without any reasonable compensation. Mayne breaks the norm by treating them as equals e.g. providing the same clothing everyone wears and eating at the same time without formality.

I really loved Gil's little arc! It really made his trust feel earned. With Delia, however, that total 180 felt out of nowhere. I hope that Myne and her still have some progression in their relationship to go and it doesn't just end with this sudden change of heart on Delia's half

Also disliked that they skipped the part on how Maine recovered from suddenly fainting last episode, but I guess that's just a minor detail but its still something important.

For those wondering about the last part, yes this season is kinda on the dark side. It will reveal the dark part of both the church and a little bit on the noble side

Another very enjoyable episode. Considering the title for the following ep I have a feeling she'll come to change the orphanage as much as she has influenced Benno's business.

Vysarine said:

At the time he got the info from an outside retainer so I imagine it's just him being petty with the bratty sentiment of "I hate you so how dare you have this [room]!" He looks too spoiled to even be aware of an oven's value and unlikely to expect Myne to utilize it.

Considering the church makes an effort to separates itself from the market place I doubt Myne will go unprovoked if they find out she's using church facilities for product creation. At a minimum they'll end up wanting a big cut of the profit if they even allow it.

Delia had it a bit too easy. Gil even had a bit of a hard time before he completely fawns over Myne. She just comes in, throws a fit, and cries. Gil had to clean and realize he had a bad attitude and yet this girl is being trusted too easily.

Well, by our world's standards it is considered analogous to slavery. Both Gil and Delia (and arguably Franz) ain't given any real choice.

Even if someone argues that this is an isekai with different rules and ethics, Myne is not from there. She is a rich adult from our world with the means and know-how to at least change her near environment, but she simply prefers to consent to that system.

What "means" - she has no say in how the church is run, and if she tries to openly go against the system, all that would happen is the nobles saying "see, that's why letting a filthy commoner in was a bad idea". If you expect her to start a bloody revolution to overthrow the "evil nobles" like some shonen hero, that ain't gonna happen.

I don't believe the novel ever mentioned whenever Urano's (Main's previous persona) family is rich though. If you refers to how unused she is to live in poverty, be mindful that Japanese live style in big cities during Heisei era is pretty comfortable, at least so much more than most European commoners had in the middle age.

Regarding on how she consents to the system, please do also remember that Urano is supposed to be an ordinary Japanese. Which culturally means she was raised in a society which values conformity to general consensus more than individualism, which is highly valued in Western culture.

Haha! I don't mean this to turn into politics and stuff, because this is just a fantasy anime. Now (depending on the countries) -we- have minimum wages, and social services, allowances, public healthcare, labor law etc. because sometimes we consider eating and living a basic human right xD
The MC is basically a god towards her retainers, she can be just, she can be unjust, with nothing to stop her as seen with how the big boss fired one of the retainers. I think she's been quite friendly while playing along the rules, which is totally understandable, I'm just hoping this is going somewhere brighter for my taste.

By looking at title of next episode that last scene was orphanage. From what they told about orphanage (especially Delia), it doesn't seems as nice place. They are getting leftovers of leftovers and they don't have nobles ("blue robes") who would "control" them.

@PurpleGirl203
by the way she talked about the orphanage I think they were her real tears.

I think your definition of slavery is getting mixed up with unfair working conditions. They are very different with only one relative aspect, which is "exploitative." Slavery denies a person the free will of choosing to leave and seek out better employment. Slaves are literally chained to their workplace and forced to work whether they want to or not with the threat of bodily harm, starvation, torture, rape and definite death. The definition of slavery has been overused in today's modern era to describe unfairly disproportionate working conditions merely for sympathy sake to rally support e.g. low wages, meager benefits, unsafe workplace and mean managers/bosses however you have the freedom to say "f_ck this shit, I'm out!!" Give your boss the "finger" while walking out to go somewhere better.
In Mayne's isekai world; there are no armed guards posted at the cathedral entrance denying anyone from leaving. The setup I've seen between the church and the orphanage so far is that the orphans earn or qualify to serve the church. The orphanage provides the labor yet the church provides the opportunity for them to grow up getting an education (read & write)* and training as adults. You might say the orphans are compelled to stay since there's a lack of options but given the circumstances their situation is actually way better than most have in that era. They can run away and take their chances in the streets or be employed somewhere else if they're lucky to get hired without the training or education the church offers.
*I'm assuming heavily that they're getting an education simply on the fact they're needed to read and copy/write scriptures.

It's not the empty pizza plate and the eating noises but the double-doors with the large wooden bolt across then that should be the foreboding flag....

Myne has to adapt quickly to life in the church due to her being an "commoner" - she knows that she is in a difficult position due to the retainers she has been allocated.

In the LN the head priest (the one she nearly killed in Ep.14) has said to squeeze as much mana & money out of her as possible and make her life difficult.

This Ep. was toned down a bit (eg. Gil being beaten by Lutz). But the majority of what's needed was present.

Sometimes it's easier to change things you don't like from within by conforming to what's required and subtly getting what you want later....

Holy shit, Main said "pika pika" when she noticed the stairs ramp with brilliant : I truly laughed and rewinded this single part a few times

About this episode, she gained Gil's trust and managed to form a win-win relation with him. His turn-over was expected since he chose this work to be able to live correctly. So basically he himself realized that there's no reward without an appropriated work behind. I'm not feeling extremely confident about Delia because she didn't seem to be working especially for a living. What I mean is that she seemed - in my opinion - to be working for the High Priest before working for her own sake. Her loyalty remains questionable and I can't erase the possibility she betrays her master.

That is quite true! Can easily imagine they're starving and more likely to cause a ruckus due to it and due it. Wonder if they limit their exposure to the "outside world" within the church grounds to more or less "hide the mess below the rug" while not in need.
