https://myanimelist.net/news/58695441 ^ It looks like they've succeeded in the crowdfunding campaign to make this now that there's an entry in MAL for this one~ I really hope that Yumemi will get to tug on my heartstrings again even though this is a prequel. |

Can someone tell me what this will be about exactly? I know this is a prequel thanks to the OP, and I've watched both anime (the OVA and the film) but that's it. |

Well thats a nice thought but why did the story even include the flash drive if it turns out to be completely irrelevant? |

epidemia78 said: this ^ i want some closure for that. because it was in the VN and they never expanded on it. because it had her memory and personality chip in it. so honestly i hope for a sequel i don't really need a super depressing prequel on top of this depressing story.FullyCharged said: epidemia78 said: RealTheAbsurdist said: epidemia78 said: It's a prequel? "among monsters and humans, there are only two types. Those who undergo suffering and spread it to others. And those who undergo suffering and avoid giving it to others." -Alice “Beauty is no quality in things themselves: It exists merely in the mind which contemplates them; and each mind perceives a different beauty.” David Hume “Evil is created when someone gives up on someone else. It appears when everyone gives up on someone as a lost cause and removes their path to salvation. Once they are cut off from everyone else, they become evil.” -Othinus |

Well thats a nice thought but why did the story even include the flash drive if it turns out to be completely irrelevant? It is relevant. to jock your memory a bit, basically movie goes like after the events of the main story, Mr. Junker found himself another purpose: to tell the remaining humans of the dream Yumemi told him. and, by luck, to find a way to restore Yumemi (since he took her drive with her when he left), so that she can work again. Movie started with an old, dying Mr. Junker. Still working for that. Movie went about him passing down that dream to the children in the hideout. But while he managed to tell so many stuff to the kids (and everyone throughout his journey), he always thinks that he fails. Bcs his idea is to make another planetarium that Yumemi can work on. By some miracle, in that hideout, he finds a similar bot to Yumemi. (Same bot maker, different model, since Yumemi's model was special-made.) He plugs in the drive, but doesn't manage to get her on. He is distraught, thought he has failed and Yumemi's dream would die with him, and passes out due to all the pain in his body. (His body had been exposed to radiation over the years of travelling. This is why he's been so sick.) What he didn't know is that it took sometime for the bot to process the new input. The movie made it as if it was a miracle for "Yumemi" to walk again, albeit not the exact same Yumemi. That "Yumemi" carries his body to his room, where he wakes up for a moment, sees the bot working, and passes away peacefully. and thus is why the ending scene. A Titanic-fashioned scene of him and the Yumemi he knew reuniting, ready to start the show on the planetarium. He knew the dream lives. He found peace at the end of his life So yeah, the drive matters. A lot. |

It didn't even occur to me that there was some kind of delay, I just thought it was due to a complete incompatibility with the drive and the robot. I will definitely have to re-watch this series again and pay closer attention this time. |

It warms my heart that we are getting more Yumemi albeit it in a prequel. I do hope we get some merch of her out of this, currently it is few and far between and if you want a figure be prepared to break the bank like I did. |

I've played the visual novel way back, and it was instantly one of my favorites, and kept that spot. Only Anime wallscroll I have is one of Hoshino Yumemi. Couldn't believe it when the Anime was announced, and then that great movie on top of it (only some of the voice acting could've been better imho). I wasn't even aware that there was a crowdfunding campaign (shame on me), but I'm definitely gonna watch this. In the visual novel, you get some background info from a guy who in the past told you about some strange android he had found in some city, and that it's best not too get involved with her. I don't remember the details, but it was something about getting too soft or too emotionally involved or something along those lines. I'd love to see that part. Or, we really get the story about when the fall actually happened. That'd also be very interesting. Edit: The two series I really want figures from, but I'll probably never get any: Violet Evergarden and Planetarian. |

It looks like it came out for the backers. If you search the OVA on twitter, several users have posted about seeing it in the past couple of days. |

I don't know if you've already watched yet or not. I suggest to watch the others first. This one is prequel, but it's just 'additional' story. |
